Abstract

Anthropomorphism in arts has been known since the prehistoric period and developed in all over the world, including the primitive arts in the Borneo and Papua hinterland. During the Indonesia-Hindu culture, anthropomorphism was used to represent the character of ‘extraordinary’ in the old fables and serves as a medium of religious. While anthropomorphism in modern Indonesian arts today can be found in the form of comics, movies, and television soap operas although anthropomorphic shape still not as extraordinary as Indonesian-Hindu arts earlier. Abstract

This study aims to determine the editing technique that is applied to the Rectoverso film and to know how editing can form storytelling in the Rectoverso film. The study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection used interviews, observation, and literatures. Data analysis was performed based on the theories on Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. Type of editing applied in the film Rectoverso is continuity editing. This type of editing to ensure the achievement of sustainability of a series of stories in the scene of action. There are seven techniques and processes used to achieve the editing, namely Rules 1800, Shot/Reverse-shot, Establishing/reestablishing shot, eye line match, cutting point of view, cut-in, and match on action. The conclusions of the study that the use of continuity editing can form storytelling and supporting each scene in the movie. The splicing shot and scene shows the implicit message in it. Overall the Rectoverso film uses cross-cutting techniques or parallel editing. If the pattern is associated with the development of the story, then the movie Rectoverso uses three stages, namely, the stage of the beginning, middle, and closing. The goal is that the bond of causality (cause and effect) will be maintained because of the unity and development of the story is also determined by them. So, editing as one element in the Rectoverso film can also form the storytelling.Keywords: editing, Rectoverso, film, and story

Abstract

Film Sang Penari (The Dancer) is one of Indonesian film that has a local spirit.Ifa Ifansyah, director of this film presents the problematic female dancers Ronggeng, ranging from the problem itself with her culture,herself with her family,to herself with her love story. The film seems to provide another offer to bring local wisdom in the movie screen.This research uses ethical approach by applying interpretation of analysis with Baumgarten aesthetic theory.The presentation is presented in qualitative descriptive. Based on the aesthetic analysis are generated various perceptions of beauty as follows: 1) The filmSang Penari (The Dancer) has a unique plot power, the cornerstone of this plot is a flashback but only a small percentage. Then forwarded with a forward flow that dominates the plot in its entirely.2)The aesthetics in this film appear when presenting a complex suspense and surprises. Both aspects are beyond the expectations of the audience thought and blanket the mind of the audience. 3) The aesthetics revealed is how the power of displaying beauty-beauty through political symbols. 4) The next aesthetic that is revealed is the cultural aesthetic.The aesthetics of Ronggeng performing arts along with the aspects in them are clearly revealed in this film.Aesthetics displayed by a dancer Ronggeng not only on the beautiful and sensual movement, but also a Ronggeng is a representation of beauty in maintaining the agrarian society.Keywords:Film,Sang Penari,estetika,Ronggeng,dan Buamgarten

Abstract

This documentary film entitled Perkampungan Adat Nagari Sijunjung (Traditional Village of Nagari Sijunjung) is trying to show the reality about the condition of the gadang house nowadays. This film was created with an expository documentary style, which uses the narrator as a single speaker. This documentary film describes one area that still maintains ‘gadang’ houses like their original functions, namely daily and customary functions. The daily function of the ‘gadang’ house is as a place to accommodate the daily activities of its inhabitants, as is usually the case with residential houses. While the traditional function of the ‘gadang’ house is the main house owned by a family belonging to a certain tribe. As the main house, the ‘gadang’ house is a place for traditional ceremonies and other importantevents from a large family of homeowners or fellow brothers of the same tribe.

Indonesian Broadcasting Commission has an important role in the world oftelevision broadcasting. KPI create P3SPS that should be done and implemented bytelevision workers on Indonesian television according with Law No. 32 In 2002,KHAZANAH an Islamic program TRANS | 7 which received a reprimand from the KPI,episode Mengenal Syi’ah. Narrative that read maked a lot of controversy from thepublic and Syi’ah groups. Many residents complained to the KPI for give sanction toKHAZANAH. The purpose of this study to determine a infraction of broadcast standardprogram in KHAZANAH program, as well as knowing the KPI measures to providewarning in accordance with applicable law. The method used in this study is qualitativemethods, which will be presented descriptively; accurately depict the actual situation,the data collect from interviews, observation, and documentation. The result obtainedin this study is to know that the true treasures in infraction of applicable SPS and stepsof KPI to carry out his duties as a regulator. Continually look at episode MengenalSyi’ah which opinion publik and IJABI figure contravene broadcast content. KPI heldmediation between KHAZANAH and IJABI. Based on the research conducted, whichwas read on episode Mengenal Syi’ah caused controversy in the community, especiallythe Syi’ah group. Abstract

This research describes about one of television genre programs called Suami-suamiTakut Istri.The problem is how stereotyping of woman's character in the Suami-suamiTakut Istriprogram? In addition, this research uses qualitative design and semiotic signification. From theresult,this research showed the stereotype of the woman's figure.There are particularly threestereotypes showed character, acting territory, and the relationship between men and women.Furthermore,the kinds of stereotypes among others indicate that a figure is feminine,emotional,domestic acting, and as a male sex object.Therefore, it is a proof that the sitcom Suami-suamiTakut Istri in Trans TV is not a program which empowers women because it is still on thestereotype to women.Keywords: Stereotype,sitcom,and Suami-SuamiTakut Istri

Abstract

This study describes the problem about the strategy of hard news program conducted by Kompas TV. The object of this research is the hard news program on Kompas TV which is examined by using qualitative descriptive approach. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. Methods of data collection using participative observation, interviews, and literature study. The results of the study show that the strategy undertaken by producers and programming team in Kompas TV includes strategy in program planningconsisting of program product arrangement, and program promotion. Strategy in self production (in house production) and program purchase through three systems. The strategy on program execution involves broadcasting the program according to the broadcast pattern and in accordance with the target audience. In addition, the program supervision strategy is conducted through internal control quality by the producer and programming team that refersto Broadcasting Behavior Guidelines and Broadcast Program Standards (P3SPS) and external supervision by Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), as well as strategies that are compiled through daily and weekly evaluation.

Abstract

Urban landscape photography is not a new thing in photography. It’s similar with temple or street photography, only that the objects in focus are in urban regions. By using lomography camera the urban landscapes are caputered in special manners that new, extraordinary images appear. Abstract

 This study describes the interpretation of “Caddy” in the animated film series Shaun the Sheep episodes of “Who’s the Caddy?” The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using a semiotic approach of Charles S. Peirce. The primary data of the film is presented in such a visualization of each scene. Data were analyzed in a descriptive narrative form based on mark classification in the process of signification that takes place in the triadic relationship namely representament, interpretant, and object. This study uses the approach to the concept of the mark that divides a sign into three categories: icons, indices, and symbols by using the concept of triangle meaning. From the results of the meaning of these signs can be drawn a conclusion that this study is interconnected. Based on the data analysis, it can be seen that Caddy in the series of Shaun The Sheep episode “Who’s the Caddy?” is a symbol that is full of messages. The message reflected through scene after scene that is presented by Caddy is an interpretant that refers to the object. In this case, it represents the three main actors in this episode, they are three golfers (Farmer, Shaun and Bitzer), in which each player is Caddy in a different context. Farmer has become a symbol of the Caddy, Shaun as an index and Bitzer as an icon of Caddy. Caddy represents interpretan, figures (Farmer, Shaun, and Bitzer) represent an object while representamen is a game of golf that has a relationship with the characters. Abstract

Nowadays, Omnibus is the soap opera program which rarely appears on the televiseprogram in Indonesia. With soap opera program, there are so many short movies which arebroadcasted by televise stations. But, the story of short movies should be repackaged. Inaddition,duration of Soap Opera Sabtu Sore Bercerita is 48 including 3 stories of short movies.Adirector was covering three short movies through coherency to connect locations, an artist,and time.Keywords:Omnibus, coherency, soap opera,and Sabtu Sore Bercerita
