Abstract

Batik art is one of the everlasting and an extra ordinary lagacy  from the Indonesian culture and it has a very deep meaning or sense. There are so many thing that can be revealed through the batik art, such as the background of the culture, faith, customs and tradition, characteristic and manners, savor, skill, etc.  It can be found in the form of various ornaments on the batik  itself. Every sheet of batik cloth reflects a massage and hope about a better future for the person who wears it. The massage is clearly vis­ible through the form of the various ornaments that painted on the batik cloth.  On classical batik, every motif and design ornaments have a  relation with the function of the clothes itself It is caused by every kinds of batik and the distinctive various of ornaments have their own spiri­tual meaning that can be related with the person who wears it and the event.  On the other hand, the form of the various batik ornaments  have an implicit meaning in the form of religion perspective or political perspective.  Key words: the form of various ornaments on the batik, the meaning

Abstract

Lurik is one of the traditional textiles ever developed in severalregions in Indonesia, and one of them is in Surakarta. Thereis an opinion that the wordlurik have the same root with the word lorek in Javanese, meaning lines, and also the word lirik-lirikmeaning striped by small lines.The syllable rik means a line oran imprint of a shallow trench. Javanese people are familiar withthe word mageri which means protecting from things that areevil and invisible . Visually lurik can be divided into two, namelylurik ciut and lurik wiyar In terms of pattern lurik is divided into3, pakan malang, lajuran and cacahan. Lurik in its times not justas a mere body cover, but it has a deeper meaning, a symbolicmeaning concerning with the culture, beliefs and expectations ofthe Javanese people, especially in Surakarta. Kain lurik worn bythe Javanese in ceremonies related to the human life cycle, frombirth to death. Lurik is used in ceremonies associated with beliefsuch as labuhan, adang ceremony etc. But along with the timesthat influence the worldview and human lifestyle, lurik is gettingabandoned . Even if there are still people who use and preserveit it’s only a small number , or already have another function justas for bags, table cloth, chair pads, so its deeper meaning hasbeen neglected.Keywords: Lurik, Fungtion, Symbolic

Abstract

Environment is a place where all creatures live. It is very important to be rescued dan continuing all the beauty inside. It is wise to all especially craft men to responsible to keep it in a good and far away fom pollute. Besides, It is also wise to continuing the forefather culture and probably develop it. One of the way is to build creative effort by ming a synergy between old craft-manship and the condition of environment nowadays.Eventhough, there is no summary to all events and fenomena which occurred, because of many limitation, but the results of this study is proved that encourage the creativity among the young craftmen. Abstract

Reality shows recently being a new trend on our national television which actually was a genre development from reality shows that was born in the be­ginning of 20th  century on overseas. And most of Indonesian people societies and telecommunication techno(ogy.Pro and con to the reality shows should be focused the specific matters. And of course, it is not proper if we only would judge to all of them, since there are so many kinds of reality shows. Reality shows is a really good business modelf or the TV itself. It is also very appropriate to the characteristic of the TV media itself and it is also giving chance to the viewers to participate actively when they wacthing the live shows play on the TV.In the articles will be discussed about the definition of reality shows, the progress of local product of the reality shows, AFI dan Indonesian Idol, the viewers emotion, education value and the business point of view of the reality shows.Keyword: reality, show, television

Wreksa Warangka is a research on wood as the basicmaterial of the sheath for keris in Surakarta. The knowledgeof suitable wood used as the material of the sheath forkeris has come into axistence since the age of the court ofSurakarta. Abstract

Salah satu cerita di dalam pertunjukan wayang, ada perang hidup dan mati antara Pandawa dan Kurawa yang disebut Baratayuda Jayabinangun. Objek penelitian ini difokuskan pada karakter Pandawa dan Kurawa. Mereka mewakili kejahatan dan kebajikan, protagonis dan antagonis, kebenaran melawan kejahatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan aspek teori konflik Marx dalam kaitannya dengan Baratayuda sebagai solusi konflik Kurawa dan Pandawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif sosiologis dengan menempatkan teori konflik Marx sebagai alat analisis. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Konflik Kurawa-Pandawa didasarkan pada materi sebagai faktor psikis, yaitu kamukten dari negara Amarta dan Astina serta karakteristik Duryudana, yaitu ambeg angkara murka, (2) Konflik Kurawa-Pandawa bisa dikategorikan sebagai konflik sosial, (3) Perjuangan Pandawa yang tidak dapat dikategorikan sebagai perjuangan antara kaum miskin dan kaya untuk menghindari tekanan Kurawa. Konflik Kurawa-Pandawa tidak terbentuk dari faktor ekonomi. Kata kunci: Baratayuda, konflik, psikis, sosial, ekonomi

Abstract

Tulisan ini mendiskusikan proyek perancangan perkembangan motif yang kurang variasi pada kain lurik,lurik bisa dikembangkan dan dikolaborasikan dengan batik lukis, batik lukis fungsinya sebagai hiasan tepikarena hiasan tepi pada lurik selama ini belum banyak yang mengerjakannya sehingga diperlukan carapengolahan hiasan tepi dengan pengembangan inovasi baru. Ide pengembangan visual “Bunga teratai”,merancang desain motif teratai sebagai hiasan tepi pada kain lurik melalui teknik batik lukis dengan teknikpendukung proses pengelantangan sehingga menghasilkan produk tekstil pakaian yang ekslusif.Kata Kunci: Motif Teratai, Hiasan tepi,Lurik, Batik Lukis.

Abstract

Aesthetics may be defined narrowly as the theory of beauty, or more broadly as that together with the philosophy of art. Traditionally, the philosophy of art concentrated on its definition, but recently this has not been the focus, with a careful analyses of aspects of art largely replacing it. Philosophical aesthetics is here considered to center on these latter- day developments. Some aesthetic effects available in architecture include tonal variation, repetition, field effects, symmetry/asymmetry, perceived mass, subliminal structure, linear dynamics, tension and repose, pattern, contrast, perspective, 3 dimensionality, movement, rhythm, unity/Gestalt, matrixiality and proportion Generally, architecture adheres to the aesthetic principles of symmetry/asymmetry, focal point, pattern, contrast, perspective, 3D dimensionality, movement, rhythm, unity/gestalt, and proportion.Key word : aesthetic and architecture.

This ceremonial is tobe accompanied by gending gending.Every Gending-s must be played appropriate to official prosesion.The House institution use gending Karawitan, gending S~mar Mantu,gending Bindri, gending Ladrang Pengantin, gending Prabu Mataramand Raja Manggala, gending Sri Kundur and gending Tedhak Saking,gending Mas Kumambang, gending Boyong, gending Kodhok Ngorek,gending Munggang, gending Sekatenan, gending Runtung, gendingKutut Manggung, gending Lambangsari, gending Bondhet and gendingSida Asih in panggih and reseption procession .All wedding ceremony in Yogyakarta House use composition ingarap saran such as gending Semar Mantu. Here is several ekslusivegending that only be played in Karaton Yogyakarta, that is Prabu Mataram,gending Raja Manggala, gending Sri Kundur. gending TedhakSaking, gending Kodhok Ngorek and gending Munggang, while othersgending that is gending Semar Mantu should be played by public peoplein reception and panggih procession.
