Abstract

Coronary heart disease is caused by narrowing the coronary arteries due to atherosclerosis or spasms, or a combination of both. A non-surgical intervention to reopen narrowed coronary arteries by Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and pain is one of the common symptoms. Interventions were carried out to reduce pain by using cold compresses with ice gel. This study aimed to examine the effect of cold compress with ice gel on pain intensity among patients with aff femoral sheath post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). True experimental approach post-test only with control group design was applied in this study. Independent t-test showed a significant difference p-value 0.000 (<0.05) that the pain intensity of the intervention group decreased from 4.53 to 2.40 (p=0.000) with a mean delta value of -2.13. The mean pain intensity control group also reduced from 4.40 to 4.27 (p=0.334) with a mean delta value of -0.13. Conclusion cold compresses with ice gel effectively reduce pain intensity in aff femoral sheath patients with post percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Cold compress (ice gel) is a nurse's independent action to reduce the pain intensity scale and increase comfort during the treatment phase but still requires collaboration with doctors to provide analgesics

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a glucose metabolism disease characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels and impaired metabolism of fats, protein, and carbohydrates due to a lack of the hormone insulin, both absolutely and relatively. Alternative treatment of diabetes mellitus with complementary therapies, namely acupressure and smart gymnastic, can improve the fasting blood sugar level. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of acupressure and smart gymnastic on fasting blood sugar levels among patients with type II diabetes mellitus. True experimental study pretest and post-test with non-equivalent control group design were applied in this study. Repeated Measure, ANOVA test, showed a significant difference with the mean fasting blood sugar level p-value 0.000 (<0.05). The intervention group is better at lowering fasting blood sugar levels than control group 1 and control group 2 seen from the higher value difference. Conclusion of acupressure therapy with smart gymnastics three times a week for four weeks effectively reduces fasting blood sugar level in a patient with type II diabetes mellitus. This study can be used as a reference for further research, with a larger sample size, controlling the patient's diet, and a longer duration of intervention, so that the results obtained are more valid.

Abstract

In Jakarta, the proportion of low birth weight is 6.0%. LBW has difficulty adapting to extra-uterine life. This is due to the organ systems' inability, such as the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, and digestive system. The SPEOS method can be used to increase breast milk production in mothers. This study aims to identify whether there is an effect of the SPEOS method on the increase in breast milk production in post-section caesarian mothers at Pelni Hospital, Jakarta. The sample used was Post-Caesaria Section Patients with 64 respondents. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and post-test control group design approach. The statistical test used was the paired-sample t-test, so breast milk production was p-value <0.05. This shows a significant effect between the SPOES method on the increase in milk production in post-section caesarian mothers at Pelni Hospital, Jakarta. It is suggested that PELNI Hospital Jakarta need to implement a new policy so that breast milk production increases with the SPEOS method in Post Sectio patients
