Abstract

The application of simultaneous regional elections in 2024 has presented several implications for the changing political landscape in Indonesia, including in provincial areas such as Aceh. Different from other areas, the pros and cons of appointing an acting regional head in Aceh seem to lack consensus or approval from the local government regarding the postponement of regional elections in 2022 based on autonomy value in Aceh. The central government of Indonesia and the Aceh government are involved in this issue. This situation has both pros and cons for all elements of society. Therefore, this issue has become the focus of this research. To achieve this, researchers employ a qualitative research method, including in-depth interviews, and collect relevant literature related to the topic. This research is expected to provide a specific depiction of the mechanisms involved in appointing an acting regional head, the problems encountered, and the democratic aspects of the appointment process. Keywords: Deliberative Democracy, Appointment of Acting Regional Head (PJ), Problems of Acting Appointment, Aceh Province.

Abstract

This study analyzes health communication in the context of public policy through the YouTube video “Polemic on BPJS Regulation 2025” on the BeritaSatu channel. The main issue raised is the ineffectiveness of government communication in disseminating the new BPJS regulation, which triggered predominantly negative public responses. The objective of this research is to examine the government's communication narrative and public reactions expressed in the video comments. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, employing content and thematic analysis, supported by NVivo 12 software to systematically map public opinion. The findings show that negative sentiment dominates (69%), reflecting unclear policy information, public distrust, and anxiety over children’s health services. This study highlights the importance of responsive, participatory, and adaptive health communication strategies in digital media contexts. The findings offer theoretical implications for developing public policy communication and practical recommendations for government agencies to design public communication based on digital literacy and social trust.

Abstract

This study examines social media as a platform for rejecting mining concessions by Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah. Using a qualitative case study approach and Nvivo 12 Plus for analysis, it draws data from Twitter/X. The findings reveal differing protest focuses: criticism of Muhammadiyah highlights its reputation, while protests against Nahdlatul Ulama emphasize concession acceptance. Social media amplifies voices broadly, playing a key role in modern protests. Popular narratives mainly center on mining, with some also scrutinizing Muhammadiyah. A significant wave of rejection emerged, with strong negative reactions from netizens. This study has limitations in focusing data on social media platforms such as Twitter/X. Recommendations for further research can focus on environmental issues and Indigenous communities in the frame of protests through social media.

Abstract

Corruption remains a serious challenge in Indonesian governance, while legal-formal approaches have not been fully effective in curbing corrupt practices, particularly at the local level. This study analyzes how the Bau Lolon ritual, as Lamaholot local wisdom, can be integrated into anti-corruption policies in East Flores Regency. The research employed a qualitative method with a multi-sited ethnographic approach in Adonara, Solor, and West Flores through literature review, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. Findings show that Bau Lolon functions as a living law that reinforces integrity, honesty, and accountability, thus deserving formal recognition as a public ethical institution complementing positive law. Its integration has the potential to strengthen local anti-corruption policies by embedding moral, social, and cosmic legitimacy rooted in local culture. Theoretically, this study expands the horizon of Indigenous Public Administration by presenting Bau Lolon as a model of hybrid governance, while practically, it recommends traditional oath-taking mechanisms and community-based financial oversight.
