This journal had ever been changed into Jurnal Bahasa dan Seni during 2004-2013. In 2014 this journal is renamed as Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni applies open journal system (OJS) and peer-reviewed online journal in 2017 with Online ISSN 2548-9097.

Abstract

This research is emphasized on phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori and You To Omou. This research is structural analysis which is conducted to analyze phrase and sentence used Tsoumori and You To Omou that are found in the novel Harry Potta To Kenja No Ishi . This novel is written in Japanese language. It is written by Matsuako Yuuko. The problem that will be analyzed in this research is dealing with phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori and You To Omou. The aim of this research is to describe the phrase structure and sentence structure of Tsumori  and You To Omou sentence. Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of  PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, and Note) Strategy in Teaching Reading Descriptive text to Junior High School at SMP N 1 Bukit Sundi. This  research used experiment research design  that consist of two groups as the sample groups. They were: an experimental class that used  PLAN Strategy and the other was control class, used discovery learning strategy. The population of this research were eight grade students of  SMP N 1 Bukit Sundi that have learn descriptive text. The samples of this research were class VIII.E as experimental class (20 Students) and class VIII.D as control class (20 students. Instruments that used in collecting the data was reading test. The result of the research showed that PLAN trategy gave possitive effect on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. It could be seen from mean scores of students’ test at experimental class was higher than mean scores of students’ reading test at controll class. This strategy gave more challenging activites and develop students’ autonomy and made students’ easier in comprehending desriptive text. Keyword: PLAN, Reading, Descriptive Text PENGGUNAAN STRATEGI PLAN (PREDICT, LOCATE, ADD , NOTE) DALAM PENGAJARAN TEKS DESCRIPTIFAbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh dari penggunaan strategi PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) dalam pengajaran reading teks deskriptiv di SMP N 1 Bukit Sundi. Penelitian ini merupkan penelitian experimen yang terdiri dari dua kelas sampel. Kelas eperiment menggunakan strategi PLAN  dan kelas kontrol menggunakan strategi pembelajaran discovering. Populasi dari penelitin ini adalah kelas delapan SMP N 1 Bukit Sundi yang telah mempelajari teks deskriptiv. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII.E  (20 orang) dan kelas VIII.D  sebagai kelas kontrol (20 orang). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah tes reading. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi PLAN memberikan efek positif terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks descriptif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari mean score hasil tes reading kelas experimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas control. Strategi ini memberikan aktivitas yang dapat meningkatkan dan membuat siswa dapat memahami teks descriptif lebih mudah.Kata Kunci: PLAN, Reading, Descriptive Text

Abstract

Every country in the world has its own culture that characterizes each nation. One of the cultures of every nation is the way to have the social interaction through verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication can be in forms of greetings and so forth, while the non-verbal communication can be signaled by using the scattering; wave of the hand, eye blink, bow weight and so forth. Abstract

Kaba Gadih Basanai merupakan karya sastra klasik Minangkabau yang merupakan warisan berharga yang memiliki nilai-nilai budaya yang amat baik bagi kehidupan. Artikel ini membahas kandungan nilai-nilai budaya yang terdapat dalam kaba tersebut dan ditemukan cerita ini mengandung nilai budaya berkaitan dalam hubungan antara manusia dengan Tuhan, alam, masyarakat, orang lain, serta dengan diri sendiri. Nilai budaya yang dominan adalah nilai budaya berserah diri dan berdoa kepada Allah. Nilai budaya manusia mengelola alam dan selaras dengan alam untuk dimanfaatkan dalam meraih harapan. Nilai budaya bermusyawarah, cinta tanah air dan patuh pada adat serta budaya tolong menolong, ramah, kasih sayang, dan patuh pada orang tua ketabahan, berkemauan keras, jujur, terampil, dan sikap waspada. Kelebihan penyampaian nilai budaya dalam kaba ini sangat halus dengan bahasa yang indah dan terkadang melalui pantun-pantun. Kata Kunci: Sastra lisan, Kaba, Nilai Budaya

Abstract

KONTRIBUSI SIKAP BELAJAR DAN PENGUASAAN KOSAKATA TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERPEN SISWA KELAS IX SMP NEGERI 1 RAMBAH SAMO KABUPATEN ROKAN HULUAbstractThis research aims to describe (1) the contribution learning attitude toward short story writing skills; (2) the contribution vocabulary mastery toward short story writing skills and (3) the contribution learning attitude and vocabulary mastery toward short story writing skills student 9­­th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo, Rokan Hulu Regency.This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods and using correlational design. The study population was all 9th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo totaling 119 people. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test of Product Moment (PPM), a double correlation test, t-test, F-test, and determinant coefficient formula to determine the contribution of independent variables on the dependent variable, either single or simultaneous. Results of this study are as follows: (1) learning attitude make a significant contribution to short story writing skills; (2) vocabulary contributed significantly to short story writing skills; (3) learning attitude and vocabulary mastery together make a significant contribution to short story writing skills. Thus, it can be concluded that learning attitude and vocabulary mastery, either single or simultaneous provide a significant contribution to short story writing skills of student 9­­th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo, Rokan Hulu Regency. Keyword: learning attitude, vocabulary mastery, short story.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan (1) kontribusi sikap belajar  terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen; (2) kontribusi penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen, dan (3) kontribusi sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan menggunakan desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo yang berjumlah 119 orang. Data penelitian ini berupa skor hasil sikap belajar, skor hasil penguasaan kosakata, dan skor hasil keterampilan menulis cerpen yang diubah ke dalam bentuk nilai. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment (PPM), uji korelasi ganda, uji t, uji F, dan rumus koefesien determinan untuk mengetahui besar kontribusi variabel bebas terhadap variabel terikat, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun secara bersama-sama. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) sikap belajar memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen;(2)penguasaan kosakata memberikankontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen;(3) sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata secarabersama-sama memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun bersama-sama memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Kata kunci: sikap belajar, penguasaan kosakata, cerpen.

Abstract

The aim of early age education is to develop all of student’s basic potential ability. To develop the student’s basic potential ability, it is needed the improvement of teachers’ profesionalism. The improvement of teachers’ profesionalism itself should be done toward both of the guide of profesionalism capability and the guide of commitment. The improvement of profesionalism capability for early age education teachers can be done through: education supervision; certification program and study task; commitment training for early age education teachers by helping their welfare. Abstract

This paper focuses on two phenomena, namely Indonesian language behavior and its perspectives in the globalization problems. Referring to the language behavior of Indonesian users, this paper discusses the behavior of the teachers and students in thinking, being, doing and acting in the perspective of globalization. In this regard the author has examined some of the problems faced by teachers and language learners based on experience and discussions with students and through reading the articles written by the observers of Indonesian language. The awareness on Indonesian language behaviors is needed to be actualized in a more contextual issue with creative solutions through interpretation and reinterpretation as well as the logical explanation, so that language behavior is more prospective in dealing with globalization. Abstract

The background of this research is the low ability of the students in writing the role play text, in which they can not pass the minimum mastery criterion (KKM). The type of the research is Classroom Action Research which is employed in two (2) cycles. The act of the teaching and learning process is done by using CTL approach. Each cycle is done by integrating some CTL components and observed by the observers. The steps of the research are planning, doing, observation and reflection. The data are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data are collected from the observation and filed note while the quantitative data are collected from the result of students performance test. The research resuts shows that there is an increasing of student’s activity during teaching and learning processes after finishing the first and the second cycles. Furthermore, there is an increasing of students achievement result in writing the role play text from 68,38 in pre-cycle, which indicates that  40% of the students passed the KKM. Furthermore, the students achievement increases into 73,75 on the first cycle in which 64 % of students passed the KKM. Moreover, the second cycle shows that the average students’ grade is 88,25. This  grade means that 100% of the students pass the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). Keywords: writing, role play text, contextual teaching approach

Abstract

PERANAN YOUTUBE DALAM MENULIS ESAI POPULERAbstractThis paper discussed the use of YouTube as a media to teach essay writing. It is believed that writing is not an easy feat. The earliest stage in the activity of writing is generating ideas on what to write which can be garnered through reading or listening activities. This is to ensure that the topics to be written are about the latest issues which are able to attract readers’ interest. In this paper, steps to write popular essay by using YouTube broadcasting breaking news are fully elaborated. The use of visual media like YouTube is expected to incite the learners’ creativity. The use of YouTube is based on the fact that people like watching videos regardless to their function as a means of entertainment or source of information. All in all, writing popular essay does not only serve as a media to express ideas but also to change learners’ worldview.Keywords: writing, popular essay, YouTubeAbstrakMakalah ini membahas penggunaan YouTube sebagai media untuk mengajarkan menulis esai. Hal ini diyakini bahwa menulis bukanlah kegiatan yang mudah. Tahap awal dalam kegiatan menulis adalah menghasilkan ide-ide tentang apa yang harus ditulis yang dapat dikumpulkan melalui membaca atau kegiatan menyimak. Hal ini untuk memastikan bahwa topik yang akan ditulis merupakan isu-isu terbaru yang mampu menarik minat pembaca. Dalam tulisan ini, langkah-langkah untuk menulis esai populer dengan menggunakan YouTube akan diuraikan sepenuhnya. Penggunaan media visual seperti YouTube diharapkan dapat menarik kreativitas peserta didik. Penggunaan YouTube didasarkan pada fakta bahwa orang-orang suka menonton video tanpa memperhatikan fungsinya sebagai sarana hiburan atau sumber informasi. Terakhir, menulis esai populer tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media untuk mengekspresikan ide-ide tetapi juga untuk mengubah pandangan dunia peserta didik.Keywords: writing, popular essay, YouTube

Abstract

This paper analyses the characters involvde in “Semar Guga Play” in relation to the plot of the story. Thus, the analysis of character (s) in a drama text (script) cannot be separated from the analysis of the element of plot of the story. In other words both elements – characters and plot – support each other. The research method is qualitative design in which data is analyzed inductive and descriptively. Furthermore, the analysis of setting is also inseparable with the elementsof plot and character. In conclusion “Semar Gugat” does not only criticize phenomena of social condition, but also deconstructs the Javanese’s view towards Semar and Arjuna" wayang.
