Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni is an international journal dedicated for the publication of scientific articles in language education, literature, and arts education. It was firstly published on March 2000 with ISSN 1411-3732 in 2007 by Faculty of Language Literature and Arts Universitas Negeri Padang. This journal had ever been changed into Jurnal Bahasa dan Seni during 2004-2013. In 2014 this journal is renamed as Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni applies open journal system (OJS) and peer-reviewed online journal in 2017 with Online ISSN 2548-9097.

Abstract

This paper is discusses the use of game in relation to some theories in the psycholinguistic area, kinds of game, and its procedures for elementary students. Game can be said as one of alternatives for joyful learning. In Psycholinguistic, it is believed that the use of game can stimulate the use of games stimulate the students’ cognitive and language development. This simulation occurs in the cognitive development and ability to use language productively, especially the ability to speak. The cognitive development and the ability to use language are one of the best techniques gained by applying these six games such as “please guess, riddles, twenty questions, charades, and let’ tell a story”. To achieve the expected result, these games need to be conducted by the appropriate procedures, of course, by analyzing students’ characteristics. It is expected that by applying these six games, the students’ difficulties in speaking can be reduced. Keywords: game, cognitive development, speaking ability, elementary students, psycholinguistics

Abstract

This article aims to explain about the alternative of reconstructing characterized education through artwork for students at State University of Padang (UNP). The artwork is an expression in which human being is able to express moral values through its symbols; as a result, it becomes expressive media for the characterized education. This research is the qualitative one which applies the descriptive method. The data is collected through direct observation, interview and library research. Afterward, the data were analyzed by using phenomenology approach. Apparently, the problem of the students at UNP is the lack of characters. As the cultural and social beings who live in the surroundings of tradition and cultural philosophies like Minangkabau, whose famous sayings adat basandi sarak, sarak basandi kitabullah (culture is based on religion, and the religion is based on Islam), these students cannot contain themselves being in the society. On the other side, artwork as an expressive media of human’s behavior and feelings is viewed as means of delivery the concepts of characterized education for these students; in return, they can behave as what is expected by culture and tradition of Minangkabau. Abstract

IMPLEMENTASI DISCOVERY LEARNING PADA PEMBELAJARAN SENI BUDAYA BIDANG SENI RUPA:  EKSPERIMEN PADA SISWA KELAS VII SLTPAbstractThe aim of this research was to find out the effect of using discovery learning strategy on the students’ performance in the Arts and Culture subject at SMPN 18 Padang. It was a quasi-experimental research which applied Pretest- Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this research were all students registered in the first semester in the academic year 2014/2015, and the samples were chosen purposively (purposive sampling). The source of the data was the written test administered to the students. The data obtained then were analyzed statistically. The test consisted of multiple choice questions on theories of arts and culture. T-test was used to prove the hypothesis of this research. The finding of the research showed that the students taught by using discovery learning strategy performed better than those taught by using conventional teaching strategy. Sumber data adalah tes tertulis yang diberikan kepada siswa. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara statistik. Tes terdiri dari pertanyaan pilihan ganda tentang teori seni dan budaya. T-test digunakan untuk membuktikan hipotesis penelitian ini. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran penemuan dilakukan lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi pengajaran konvensional.Kata kunci: strategi pembelajaran penemuan, seni dan budaya, Hasil belajar

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat penerapan strategi-stategi membaca berdasarkan Genre Based Approach guna menigkatkan pencapaian nilai membaca siswa. penulis melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan strategi membaca berdasarkan konsep Genre Based Approach yang terdiri dari empat langkah yaitu building context of the text, modeling the text, joint construct of the text, dan independent construction of the text. Strategi-strategi membaca berdasarkan genre based approach diterapkan melalui tiga fase membaca yaitu, pre-reading phase, whilst reading phase, dan post reading phase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi membaca bisa memperbaiki proses belajar dan mengajar membaca. Simpulan ini bisa dilihat dari hasil tes membaca siswa yang menunjukkan peningkatan dari 12, 5% di siklus 1 ke 70, 8% di siklus 2 dan terakhir di siklus 3 menjadi 83, 3%. Penulis juga melakukan pengamatan dengan menggunakan (contreng) checklist terhadap strategi pengajaran dan keaktifan siswa. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan hampir semua siswa suka strategi pengajaran guru dan sebagian besar dari siswa sudah aktif. Hasil angket menunjukkan 90% dari siswa tertarik dengan cara pengajaran guru dan 88% dari siswa  tersebut aktif dalam belajar. Data tersebut juga diperkuat oleh informasi dari wawancara yang direkam terhadap 15 siswa pada tiap siklusnya. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara diketahui bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengatakan mereka tertarik dengan cara guru mengajar dan termotivasi membaca teks berbahasa Inggris Key words: Students’ Reading Comprehension, Genre based approach, Reading Strategies Derived from Genre Based Approach

Abstract

Honorific delivery strategy is an integral part of the Indonesian speech act speech of educated families from Makasar speech community. The strategy has a peculiarity. This study was conducted to get an overview and explanation of the delivery of honorific strategy in the speech act of prohibition delivered by educated families from Makasar speech community. This qualitative study uses the pragmatic theory design with ethnography of communication model. The results of this study indicate that the delivery of honorific prohibition strategy embodied in the speech acts of direct and indirect use of honorific alternatives varies with different contexts according to socio-cultural norm they have. Abstract

The widespread use of celular phones and SMS has spawned a variety of new word formation. These new words raise a language variety that leads to various interpretations. This is because the abbreviations and perpetuate sentences tend to "violate" graphological and syntactic rules, and the influence of psycholinguistics in the use of these abbreviations. This is because the creativity of the language community is very expressive and subjective regardless of the linguistic acceptability. Abstract

SOSOK PEREMPUAN DALAM KARYA SASTRAAbstractCurrently, women have started to gain access to the public sphere, which was traditionally reserved for men. However, questions remain whether these women have already gained due recognition for their work in the public domain. This phenomena are also present in literature, a creative work which is believed to be able to depict social phenomena with ample clarity. Three short stories published in the Jakarta Posts 2008, and Kompas 2012 chosen to see the reflection of women who entered the public domain which is strongly patriarchal in nature. Ironically, patriarchy still strongly presents in custom, tradition, and religion in which the sanctity of Eastern culture must be kept at all cost.Keywords: image, woman, literary worksAbstrakSaat ini, perempuan sudah mulai mendapatkan akses ke ruang publik, yang secara tradisional untuk laki-laki. Abstract

The study of the music phenomenon has long been an important discussion due to its role in upholding the accretion of the history of literature of the world of music. Among the two poles music’s idealism, which is between European and American, they both have different opinion about multiculturalism. The multiculturalism in the Europe is the unification of the music culture with the lowest integrity level between the music cultures which possibly experience the multicultural process. It means, with the music culture base which just established like music classic, so that the multicultural process will cannot be seen easily from the music which recommended, because its interference usually dissolved is the music substance which intrinsically used, at rhythmic, melodies, form and others.  Meanwhile the multiculturalism phenomenon in the America will offers the explicit structures, which accurately occurs the powerful and influential multiculturalism process. This thing also based on the heterogeneous America’s people as the interference of many cultures by means of the difference music. The multiculturalism music in America also develop faster because in its accretion it influence with the political period and the crime-infested unsafe makes the countries which moves to America feels that they the same. So, it is not surprise if the performance of the African-American music or the America’s World Music will demonstrate the music multiculturalism process which actual and has been growth for a long time. Abstract

The aims of this research to examine in depth The principles of language politeness and politeness strategies that contained in The Talk Show “Ellen DeGeneres Show”. This research is a qualitative research using content analysis method. Data collection techniques and procedures used are documentation techniques; listened techniques, and record techniques. The results of The research showed: (1) Politeness principle that The most commonly used was The sympaty maxim about 68 utterances (36.55%), while generosity maxim was The least-used, 1 utterance (0.53%) ; (2) The most frequent violation of principle politeness was agreement maxim about 24 utterances (68.57%), while The least violation of principle of politeness was approbation maxim,  2 utterances (5.71%); (3) The implications of politeness in The learning of English is divided into two, Theoretical and practical implications. Theoreticaly, this research can also be used as a first step to research more about language politeness in a Talk Show. Practically this research can be used and used for teachers and students as discussion learning materials.Key words:  Politeness, Talk Show, Principle PolitenessPRINSIP KESANTUNAN DALAM “THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW” DAN IMPLIKASINYA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS (Kajian Analisis Isi)Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam mengenai prinsip-prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang terdapat di dalam Talk Show Ellen The DeGeneres Show serta bagaimana implikasinya dalam pemebelajaran bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi. Teknik dan prosedur pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik dokumentasi, teknik simak, dan teknik catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Jenis – jenis prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang paling banyak digunakan adalah maksim kesimpatian sebanyak 68 tuturan (36,55%), sedangkan maksim penerimaaan merupakan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa yang paling sedikit digunakan yaitu 1 tuturan (0,53%); (2) Pelanggaran prinsip kesantuanan berbahasa yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah pelanggaran maksim kecocokan yaitu sebanyak 24 tuturan (68,57%), sedangkan pelanggaran prinsip kesantunan yang paling sedikit adalah pelanggaran maksim kemurahan yaitu 2 tuturan (5,71%); (3) Implikasi kesantunan berbahasa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terbagi dua yakni implikasi secara teoritis dan praktis. Secara teoritis penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai langkah awal untuk bagi peneliti lainnya untuk meneliti lebih lanjut tentang kesantunan berbahasa dalam sebuah acara Talk Show. Secara praktis penelitian ini dapat digunakan dan dimanfaatkan bagi guru dan siswa sebagai bahan materi pembelajaran diskusi.Kata Kunci:  Kesantunan, Talk Show, Prinsip Kesantunan
