Abstract

Adolescence is a very important period in human life, because it is a transition from childhood to adulthood. Many teenagers experience difficulties in dealing with their first menstruation (menarche) if they have not received the right information from their surrounding support groups, including parents, family members, teachers or their immediate environment. This research aims to analyze the provision of reproductive health education for adolescents approaching menarche in support groups at SDN Mojokerto City. The research method used was pre-experimental. The instrument is a questionnaire to assess knowledge. The sample in this study consisted of 56 parents, 56 students and 28 teachers. The results of this research showed that there was a significant influence on the treatment given to each sample, indicated by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005 in the peer support group, and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005 in the parent support group, while in the teacher support group significant results show 0.001 < 0.005. Based on the results, it can be concluded that reproductive health education which is carried out effectively has an impact on increasing knowledge of reproductive health in the three support groups, including peers, parents and teachers.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) air pollution on adolescent engagement in physical activities, which are critical for their physical and social development. Utilizing the PRECEDE framework, this cross-sectional study identifies key factors affecting adolescents' willingness to participate in physical activities during periods of high PM2.5 concentration. A total of 227 adolescents completed an online self-administered questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Chi-Square tests were employed for data analysis, with statistical significance set at p < .05. The analysis revealed that two factors—academic discipline (χ² = 12.10, p = .033) and knowledge of safe physical activity during elevated PM2.5 periods (χ² = 13.91, p = .000)—significantly influence adolescents' engagement in outdoor activities despite pollution risks. These findings suggest that adolescents with certain educational backgrounds and greater knowledge of protective measures are more likely to remain active during high pollution episodes. This study underscores the need for tailored educational interventions to foster safe physical activity practices among adolescents in polluted environments. The results contribute to understanding how educational and knowledge-based factors can mitigate the adverse effects of PM2.5 pollution on adolescent lifestyles, offering insights for policy development aimed at promoting health-conscious behaviors in urban settings with elevated pollution levels.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea, or commonly known as menstrual pain, is a sensation of pain or abdominal cramps that occurs before and during the menstrual period. The use of drugs to reduce pain has negative side effects, so holistic care such as deep breathing relaxation techniques and acupressure therapy are one alternative to reduce dysmenorrhea pain. Deep breathing relaxation is a technique that involves slow and deep breathing to help reduce stress and anxiety (Trivia, 2021). While acupressure is a massage technique at certain points, proven to be effective in reducing menstrual pain. This type of research uses a Quasy Experiment design with a one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study were all 2nd year female students of the Nursing Study Program at the Madura State Polytechnic. This study used purposive sampling, with the inclusion criteria of female adolescents aged 17-20 years, who had taken Holistic Care Medicine courses, experienced primary dysmenorrhea pain and did not use pharmacological therapy such as analgesics during the research data collection process. The exclusion criteria were having certain gynecological diseases or secondary dysmenorrhea and very severe pain levels. The sample in this study was 52 people. Data collection used a Visual Analog Scale measuring instrument with an intensity scale of 0-10 and a checklist of deep breathing relaxation therapy and SP6 acupressure techniques, data were processed computerized using SPSS software version 26. Univariate analysis used frequency distribution and bivariate analysis used the Wilcoxon test with a p-value <0.05. The results of the data distribution test obtained an abnormal data distribution, so it was continuedstatistical test using the Wilcoxon Test obtained a value of 0.000 (<0.05). Thus proving that the combination of deep breathing therapy and acupressure is effective in reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain in adolescents.

Abstract

The negative influence of grandmother's advice about breastfeeding is related to wrong knowledge and not intentional. When they have adequate information, grandmothers' roles in feeding their grandchildren will be vulnerable and changeable, resulting in better feeding patterns. During the postpartum period, grandmothers can also pass on to their children information that is very useful for daughters/daughters-in-law, some of which can also hinder breastfeeding. In this research, we will examine the effect of Al-Qur'an murottal and Effleurage massage using Jitu Oil on breastfeeding independence in mothers assisted by breastfeeding grandmothers. Postpartum mothers who are giving birth for the first time will be confused about what steps need to be taken to meet the baby's nutritional needs, so the role of those closest to them, especially grandmothers, is needed in ensuring this is achieved. This research uses a quasi-experimental design using a one test only design. The working area of the Arjasa Community Health Center, Situbondo Regency, was used as the location for this research. The research was carried out from December 2023 to February 2024. The research population was postpartum mothers in the TPMB working area of the Arjasa Health Center using purposive samplingas many as 41 people. The resultsMothers who breastfeed independently tend to have a chance of having confidence in breastfeeding which is 3.167x higher than mothers who have low breastfeeding independence.
