Abstract

Economic growth increases a country’s real gross domestic product (GDP) over time. Investment is the expenditure on capital goods, such as machines, factories, and technology, that enhance the productive capacity of the economy. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the research trends and future directions in the field of economic growth and investment in Africa, based on a bibliometric analysis of the relevant literature. Using the Scopus database, we identified and analyzed 1,163 articles published between 2004 and 2023, This study employs a five-step methodology that consists of: (1) identifying keywords; (2) initializing search results; (3) including and excluding certain initial results items; (4) assembling initial data statistics; and (5) doing data analysis. The study findings revealed that the highest number of publications on economic growth and investment in Africa was in 2023 (166 articles), the top contributing affiliation was the University of South Africa, the leading influential country was South Africa and Social Sciences was the main source of contributions. Additionally, Odhiamb Nicholas M. topped the list of the top authors with high publications and 166 papers, while Simplice, Bekun, and Festus Victor held the top spot on the list of the most influential authors in terms of citations. Similarly, this study demonstrated that certain authors collaborate. This study identified four research clusters that could serve as a basis for future research expansion on economic growth and investment in Africa.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of intellectual capital on the financial performance of Indonesian companies engaged in the energy sector. This study is a causal-comparative study with company performance as the dependent variable, and intellectual capital efficiency (ICE) as the independent variable consisting of human capital efficiency (HCE), structural capital efficiency (SCE), relational capital efficiency (RCE), and capital employed efficiency (CEE). This study also uses two control variables, i.e. leverage and size. The sample studied was 21 Indonesian companies listed in the energy sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) which were obtained through the purposive sampling method. This study uses secondary data in the form of the company's annual financial reports for five years (2016-2020). The data were analyzed using the panel data regression analysis method, and the results of the analysis found that the independent variable that had a significant and positive effect on company performance was relational capital efficiency (RCE) while the influence of other variables was found to be insignificant.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in the company's financial performance before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to determine the effect of financial performance before and during the Covid-19 pandemic on the risk of company bankruptcy. The sample used in this study is a state-owned company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for 2018-2021. Sampling using purposive sampling method and obtained 21 companies. The tests used to determine the differences in this study were the paired samples t-test and the Wilcoxon signed ranks test, while the performance effect test on the risk of bankruptcy was measured using the modified Altman Z-score formula and multinomial logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the results of the different tests using the Paired samples t-test, i.e. the Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR) ratio before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, there was no significant difference, but when tested differently using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, i.e. the ratio of return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), debt to equity ratio (DER) there are significant differences both before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, while for the current ratio (CR) and quick ratio (QR), there is no significant difference. While the results of the influence test using a multinomial logistic regression test, the Current Ratio (CR_SBL) before the Covid-19 pandemic and Return on Assets (ROA_ST) during the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant effect on the risk of bankruptcy of BUMN companies, but for other ratios, it had no significant effect. Against the risk of bankruptcy before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The first inspection revealed several significant problems related to working conditions, according to the Yogyakarta City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Service. Employee comfort and productivity are negatively affected by inadequate lighting and poor air circulation in the workplace. Apart from that, limited facilities such as limited workspaces are also an inhibiting factor in improving employee abilities and skills, as well as opportunities to achieve desired career goals. Another problem was employee loyalty which needed to be increased, which was reflected in employee absenteeism during working hours. This research involved 60 employees as a population with sampling using the census method. Career advancement opportunities, a pleasant work environment, and intrinsic motivation together have a good and substantial influence on employee loyalty, according to research using multiple linear regression. Career development, work environment, and motivation simultaneously have a positive effect on employee loyalty. Employees tend to be more loyal to the company as a whole if these areas are improved.

Abstract

The low level of Islamic financial literacy in Indonesia, including among university students, is a major challenge in increasing Islamic financial inclusion in Indonesia. Although the Islamic finance industry is growing, students' understanding of Sharia-based principles and services, such as Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), is still limited. This study analyzes the influence of Islamic financial knowledge and literacy on the decision of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang students to utilize BSI services. The method used is mixed with sequential explanatory design, combining multiple linear regression, in-depth interviews, and systematic review. The results showed that Islamic financial knowledge and literacy have a significant effect on student decisions. Factors such as the Fiqh Muamalah and Islamic Economics curricula, as well as the supportive attitude of the lecturers, contribute to improving students' understanding. Active learning, such as flipped classrooms, is also effective in strengthening understanding. Social media and technology play an important role in improving Islamic financial literacy, with the utilization of films, advertisements, and character actors and influencers being very influential in introducing Islamic financial products and improving corporate image and public trust. KKN students can contribute by conducting workshops and training for community education. Supportive policies and an adaptive organizational culture are needed for wider access to digital financial services and more effective teaching.
