Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze the role of multinational employees in improving service quality at Breezbay Hotel. The issue is focused on how the contributions of multinational employees are implemented in service practices, the dynamics of cross-cultural interactions in the workplace, and their implications for guest experience. To address this issue, the study draws on theories of service quality, workforce diversity, and cross-cultural human resource management. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation involving management, supervisors, local employees, multinational employees, and hotel guests, and were analyzed qualitatively using a case study approach. The findings indicate that multinational employees play an important role in enhancing service quality, particularly in terms of cross-cultural communication, empathy, and service assurance, especially when serving international guests. Although challenges such as differences in communication styles and potential miscommunication were identified, effective leadership, the implementation of standard operating procedures, and open internal communication were found to minimize these obstacles. This study concludes that multinational workforce diversity is a strategic asset that, when managed adaptively and inclusively, can improve service quality, enrich guest experience, and strengthen hotel competitiveness in the global hospitality industry.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between career knowledge, internship experience, and attitudes toward the hotel profession with students’ interest in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry using a quantitative correlational approach. The problem focuses on the low interest of some vocational high school students majoring in Hospitality to continue their careers in this sector despite having received education and internship experience. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 127 students of SMK N 1 Karimunjawa who had participated in an internship program, and were then analyzed using correlation tests and multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results indicate that all three variables have a positive and significant effect on students’ career interest, with internship experience being the most dominant factor. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening career knowledge, implementing quality internship programs, and fostering professional attitudes to enhance students’ interest in pursuing a career in the hospitality field. The scientific contribution of this article lies in providing empirical evidence on the determinants of career interest among students in vocational hospitality education.

Abstract

The Rohingya-Rakhine communities’ conflict in Myanmar has been a protracted and complex issue since the 1970s, fueled by historical animosity, religious and social differences, and competition for resources. The conflict has led to significant humanitarian crises, including mass displacement, human rights abuses, and severe food shortages, with 57 percent of families in Rakhine State unable to afford basic food needs. The situation has been exacerbated by the February 2021 military coup, with both the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army committing human rights abuses. Using secondary sources of data and interdisciplinary approach, this paper explores the socio-economic context of the conflict, examining the historical context, current situation, and potential solutions to address the humanitarian crisis and promote sustainable peace and development. It aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the conflict and identify effective strategies for resolving it. The paper highlights the need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach that addresses the root causes of the conflict and promotes the rights and dignity of all communities involved. Ultimately, this paper seeks to inform policy and practice aimed at promoting peace, stability, and human rights in Myanmar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a 90-day gratitute journaling on psychological well-being and workplace well-being among lecturers in Medan. The study used a pre-experimental One-group pretest-posttest design with a gratitude journaling treatment for 90 days. Psychological well-being was measured using the PERMA Profiler instrument and workplace well-being through a workplace well-being questionnaire developed by Hyett & Parker. The study population was private lecturers in Medan. Sampling was conducted using nonprobability with criteria of being 33–56 years old, having worked for more than 2 years, having moderate stress levels, and being willing to participate in a 90-day gratitude writing training. The study sample consisted of 30 people. The study was analyzed quantitatively using paired tests and effectiveness tests (NGain scores). The results obtained a sig value of 0.003 for psychological well-being and 0.000 for workplace well-being, which means it is smaller than 0.05, indicating a difference in the values of psychological well-being and workplace well-being before and after the 90-day Gratitute journaling. Based on the average value of the pre-test and post-test, it shows that the research hypothesis is accepted, namely that there is a difference in the value of psychological well-being and well-being in the workplace before and after the 90-day gratitude journaling method was given to lecturers, but the results of measuring the effectiveness of the treatment showed a g value <0.3, which means it has low effectiveness.

This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation from purposively selected fashion MSME actors and were analyzed using thematic analysis. Abstract

Cinematographic piracy on TikTok presents a significant challenge to the enforcement of criminal copyright law in Indonesia. The platform’s short-video format, viral nature, and monetization potential have facilitated the widespread distribution of unauthorized film excerpts. Although Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright provides criminal sanctions for copyright infringement, its enforcement remains ineffective, primarily due to the classification of copyright offenses as complaint-based crimes. This study aims to examine the regulation of criminal copyright law in addressing film piracy on TikTok and to analyze the urgency of reforming the offense classification and adopting more adaptive criminal sanctions. This research employs a normative legal method with a juridical-normative approach, relying on statutory analysis, legal doctrines, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that the complaint-based offense mechanism and non-proportional sanctions relative to the perpetrators’ economic gains undermine deterrence and weaken copyright protection. Therefore, legal reform is necessary through the adoption of a mixed offense model based on the perpetrator’s characteristics and the implementation of adaptive sanctions to enhance the effectiveness of copyright law enforcement in the digital era.

Abstract

This article aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the influence of competence and motivation on employee performance at the Demak Regency Health Office. The study is based on the issue of employee performance achievements that have not yet reached optimal levels, which are suspected to be influenced by individual work abilities and varying levels of motivation. This condition calls for an empirical investigation to identify the factors that directly contribute to improving employee work effectiveness. The research employs a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 129 respondents who are active employees at the Health Office. The data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression to examine the effect of each variable. The findings indicate that competence and motivation have a significant influence on employee performance, with motivation emerging as the strongest contributing factor. The research model explains 76.6% of the variation in performance, demonstrating that both variables play an important role in enhancing work performance. These findings emphasize that improving competence through structured training and strengthening motivation through rewards, work support, and continuous coaching are effective strategies to optimize employee performance and improve the quality of public health services at the regional level.

Abstract

The use of digital innovation in evaluating public services is crucial to improve transparency, data accuracy, and service quality in line with community needs. However, there is a gap between innovation adoption theory and field practice, particularly in terms of low user participation and suboptimal survey results. This study analyzes the adoption of the SuKma e Jatim application at the Bojonegoro regency public service mall using Rogers’ innovation diffusion theory. The method employed is qualitative, utilizing a case study approach that involves observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The data are then analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model, with assistance from NVivo 12 software. The results show the SuKma e Jatim application has relative advantages in the form of a faster, more efficient, and more transparent evaluation process, but its compatibility and ease of use are still influenced by digital literacy and the need for technical assistance. The trial rates low due to a lack of socialization, while observability is high because survey results can be accessed in real-time and used to improve services. This study concludes that SuKma e Jatim has strong potential as a digital innovation in public service evaluation, but its successful adoption requires strengthening socialization, increasing user capacity, and continuous technical development.
