Abstract

This study examines how the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has affected Indonesia's rising costs for wheat, fertilizer, and oil. The study looks at how domestic policy responses are influenced by global disruptions using a political-economics framework. With an emphasis on oil, wheat, and fertilizer imports, financial statistics and trade data between Russia, Ukraine, and Indonesia were gathered in 2021–2022. Descriptive qualitative approaches, data-gathering techniques, and data-analysis procedures are used in the analysis.  According to the findings, the war caused a great deal of instability in the world's oil distribution, which raised Indonesian commodities prices and had a domino impact on the country's food supply chains. The conflict also impacted Indonesia's access to fertilizer raw materials from Russia, the cost of importing oil from Russia, and the purchase of wheat from Ukraine. As a result, fertilizer prices significantly increased, which in turn led necessities like wheat to rise. Overall, the study improves knowledge of how geopolitical conflicts directly affect Indonesia's economic stability through supply vulnerabilities and price escalation, and it emphasizes the need of strategic policy responses to handle external influences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of room cleanliness and perceived quality of housekeeping services on guest satisfaction at The Windsor Hotel TOYA Resort & Spa, Japan. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 120 hotel guests selected using purposive sampling techniques, then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that room cleanliness and perceived quality of housekeeping services had a positive and significant effect on guest satisfaction, both partially and simultaneously (p < 0.05). Partially, perceived quality of housekeeping services had a more dominant influence than room cleanliness, as indicated by a larger regression coefficient value. These findings indicate that aspects of the service process and the quality of housekeeping staff interactions play a key role in shaping guest satisfaction at luxury resort hotels. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of consistent room cleanliness management and improving the quality of housekeeping services based on Japanese service culture as a strategy to increase hotel satisfaction and competitiveness sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the differences in service quality between chain hotels and independent local hotels in Magelang Regency, a tourism destination with unique characteristics due to its diverse visitors and strong local culture. The research employs a descriptive–comparative qualitative approach with four key informants selected through purposive sampling, consisting of operational managers/General Managers and front office supervisors from each hotel type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observations, and document analysis, and were then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that chain hotels excel in standardized service structures, consistent implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), evenly distributed staff professionalism, and integrated technological support such as PMS and CRM systems. In contrast, independent hotels demonstrate strengths in service flexibility, emotional closeness with guests, the incorporation of local wisdom, and higher levels of personalized service, although they face challenges in maintaining consistency. The differences in service quality are influenced not only by hotel type but also by organizational factors, work culture, staff competence, technology, and guest characteristics. This study concludes that both hotel types offer complementary service approaches; optimal service quality is achieved when strong operational standards are combined with personalized touches that adapt to guest needs. These findings provide theoretical contributions to the study of hospitality service quality and practical recommendations for hotel management to enhance service competitiveness in tourism destinations.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing academic stress among adolescents, which affects motivation, concentration, and students’ mental resilience. This condition emphasizes the importance of academic resilience as an adaptive ability in dealing with learning pressures. The study aims to analyze the effect of spiritual intelligence on the academic resilience of Islamic-based middle school students, which remains relatively underexplored in inferential quantitative research. A quantitative approach with a simple regression design was employed. The subjects were 62 eighth-grade students of Mumtaza Islamic Junior High School. The analysis results showed that spiritual intelligence significantly influences academic resilience. These findings confirm the role of spiritual intelligence as an important predictor in enhancing students’ perseverance, psychological resilience, and ability to cope with academic pressure. The study contributes to strengthening the perspective of Islamic educational psychology, particularly in positioning spiritual intelligence as a strategic factor in developing academic resilience. Practically, the results can serve as a basis for schools and educators to integrate spiritual intelligence development into character building and academic guidance.

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the position and role of the Indonesian Constitutional Court (MK) in maintaining constitutional supremacy amidst the dynamics of national politics. The purpose of this study is to critically analyze the use of Constitutional Court decisions in Indonesian constitutional practice, by examining the shift in the function of decisions from an instrument for enforcing the constitution to a tool for political legitimacy by the power elite. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with document analysis methods, in-depth interviews with constitutional law experts, and critical reviews of MK decisions considered to be politically charged. The results of the study indicate that there is a tendency for the power elite to utilize MK decisions as an instrument of political legitimacy. The contributing factors include the judge recruitment process that is still strongly influenced by political nuances, weak internal ethical mechanisms, and external pressures from the dynamics of executive and legislative power. The novelty of this study lies in its critical-interdisciplinary approach that examines Constitutional Court decisions not only as normative legal products, but also as political instruments mobilized by the power elite. This study emphasizes that the independence of the MK is the main foundation of a democratic rule of law. Therefore, institutional reform and strengthening of constitutional judicial ethics are needed so that the Constitutional Court does not get caught up in the vortex of practical political interests, but instead consistently becomes the guardian of the constitution and protector of constitutional justice for all Indonesian people.
