Abstract

The determination of reducing compounds in plant samples is continuously developed to achieve more practical and efficient analytical methods. This study analyzed the reducing compound content in red bell peppers and large green chilies using UV-Vis spectrophotometry via a redox reaction with triiodide. The results showed that this method can effectively determine reducing compounds in plant samples. The large green chili sample contained 0.01723% reducing compounds, whereas the red bell pepper sample exhibited a higher content of 0.0267%. These findings indicate that red bell peppers have a higher concentration of reducing compounds than large green chilies. This method has the potential to be a reliable approach for analyzing reducing agents in plants and can be further developed for pharmaceutical and food analysis applications.

Abstract

It is critical to conduct a performance analysis of a hospital's Pharmacy Installation in terms of internal business processes and customer needs. The lack of drugs, delays in medicine stock turnover, unpredictable phases, and the hospital's rank dropping to the lower tier all played a role in this performance. This research aimed to analyze the Pharmacy Installation Performance of the Zainal Umar Sidiki North Gorontalo Regional Public Hospital from an internal business perspective, from a customer perspective, and to provide suggestions for improvements to the Pharmacy Installation Performance of the Zainal Umar Sidiki North Gorontalo Regional Public Hospital using Balanced Scorecard from an internal business perspective and a customer perspective. This research also employs a descriptive method with retrospective and concurrent data collection. Moreover, the study collected data in the form of primary and secondary data. This research was conducted from the second week of December 2020 and ended at the end of February 2021, which lasted approximately two months. The number of samples collected reached 100 people/patients with specific information (outpatients totaling 22 people and inpatients totaling 78 people). The primary data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis and Microsoft Excel, whereas the calculation of secondary data analysis employs manual calculations. The internal business perspectives that met the standard are those dispensing time indicators, while those that did not meet standards are indicators of drug availability, formulary compliance, percentage of deadstock, damaged ED, final stock value, suitability of planning realization, and drug use review. Customer's (patients) viewpoints that meet the qualified standards are the indicators of customer (patients) satisfaction, while indicators of the level of patient networkability and customer growth do not meet the standard.

Abstract

Indonesia is ranked fifth with the highest number of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients in theworld, with 19.5 million patients in 2021, and is estimated to be 28.6 million in 2045. DMpatients can experience comorbidities and complications, so they are at risk ofpolypharmacy and drug interactions. The average number of drugs for DM patients is 8.9drugs per day and 38.8% have the potential to experience interactions. The purpose of thisstudy was to determine the potential incidence of oral antidiabetic interactions in theprescription of type 2 DM patients. The study used an observational design. The sample wasa prescription for outpatient type 2 DM patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in theperiod October 2021 - March 2022, totaling 112 prescription sheets. Data analysis used chisquare test on SPSS ver. 23 to see the relationship between the number of drugs andpotential interactions. Drug interaction evaluation was based on drugs.com,go.drugbank.com and Drug Interaction Facts by Tatro (2009). The study showed that thehighest comorbidity was hypertension (25%) and the highest use of oral antidiabetics wasmetformin (45.9%). Potential oral antidiabetic interactions were identified in 52prescriptions out of 112 prescription sheets, with the highest percentage being theinteraction of metformin with furosemide (16%). There was a significant associationbetween the number of drugs prescribed and the incidence of potential oral antidiabeticinteractions (p=0.000). Type 2 DM patients who receive polypharmacy have a greaterpotential for drug interactions.

Abstract

Glycolic acid has antibacterial properties and is hydrophilic which makes it difficult to penetrate through skin lipids to reach target cells. Thus, it is necessary to develop a delivery system in the form of ethosomes containing glycolic acid to increase drug penetration. The method used was hot preparation by varying ethanol concentrations of 20, 30 and 40% as vesicle formers with observations of organoleptics, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, flow properties and cyling tests. The results obtained with the variation of ethanol concentration can affect the characterization of glycolic acid ethosomes. However, no significant changes occurred during 28 days storage (p>0.005).

Abstract

Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood pressure increases significantly, which can increase the risk of cardiovascular complications. This study introduces the innovation of hypertension education through YouTube Shorts as a more effective alternative to direct communication at Puskesmas X in Jambi City. With a quantitative one group pre-test post-test design, 100 hypertensive patients were divided into two groups: 50 received education through YouTube Shorts and 50 through direct communication. Results showed YouTube Shorts was more effective in increasing knowledge (from 44.1 to 79.6) and reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Direct communication also increased knowledge (from 58.08 to 75.18) and lowered systolic pressure, but was less effective in lowering diastolic pressure. The majority of participants were men aged 56-65 years, which suggests that YouTube Shorts are more effective than traditional education methods.
