Abstract

Medicinal raw materials from agricultural products or groups of wild plants cannot be guaranteed; their chemical content is always constant due to variations in seedlings, body location, climate, or raw material conditions (age and harvest method). The content of the chemical compounds responsible for the biological response must have a chemical specification, i.e., information about the composition of both type and content. Standardization was carried out on specific parameters, including organoleptics, yield, the content of drying losses, water-soluble extract content, ethanol-soluble extract content, and chromatogram patterns. Non-specific parameters of the extract included water content, total ash content of powder and extract. The method of determination is carried out in accordance with the procedures established by Farmakope Herbal Indonesia (FHI 2017). Profiling has been done using infrared spectroscopy. Specific parameters showed that the organoleptic was a semisolid form with a dark green color, a distintive smell of dadap serep leaf extract, bitter sweetness, a yield of 7,63%, a drying loss of 7,51%, a water-soluble extract content of 4,86%, a level of ethanol-solubility extract content of 33,47%, and chromatogram patterns that were typical. Non-specific parameters indicate that the water content is 1,11%, acid-insoluble ash powder content 5,050 ± 0,036%; extract 0,986% and total ash powder content is 8,671 ± 0,303%; extract 4,123%. The results of parameter simplicia as well as ethanol extracts of leaves of Dadap Serep obtainable from the Magelang in accordance with the specifications in FHI 2017 and the spectroscopic photometer profile showing the typical pattern of extract and simplisia leaves.

Abstract

UV rays can cause wrinkles, dryness and spots so the skin needs sunscreen nutrition. Sweet fragrant mango fruit contains flavonoids, tannins, and vitamin c as potential sunscreen. This study aims to formulate mango juice as a moisturising and sunscreen cream preparation in the form of hand cream. Mango fruit juice was extracted using a juicer and dried with a freeze dryer, then formulated into creams with concentrations of 2.5%; 5%; 7.5%; 10%. The preparation was evaluated for physical quality and tested for anti- irritation activity, moisture, and SPF value using a spectrophotometer. Data were statistically analysed using SPSS One Way Anova. The results showed that mango juice contains flavonoids, tannins, and vitamin C compounds. The cream formula fulfils the physical quality evaluation requirements of the preparation, does not irritate and has skin moisture activity. Formula 4 is the most effective cream preparation in moisturizing the skin with a moisture percentage of 72% but does not have SPF activity.

Abstract

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a plant from the Myrtaceae family that is widely found in Indonesia. Guava skin contains flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and terpenoids that have the potential to overcome various infections. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of guava skin extracts and fractions and to determine the group of compounds from the most active extract or fraction against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus using the bioautography method. Guava skin was extracted by the maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent, then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvents to optimize the separation of substances. Antibacterial activity testing of guava fruit peel extract and fractions was done with concentrations of 8, 10, and 12%, positive control ciprofloxacin, and negative control DMSO 3%. Diffusion results were obtained from measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone around the disc paper. The results of the largest diameter were continued to determine the compound group of the most active extract or fraction through bioautography tests. The results showed that a concentration of 12% in the water fraction had the largest diameter of 16.55 mm which was included in the strong category. The water fraction that showed the most active antibacterial activity was then subjected to the bioautography method. The results obtained showed the presence of flavonoid compounds at Rf 0.34 with a diameter of 1.1 mm in the water fraction and 1.2 mm in the quercetin standard.

Abstract

Telepharmacy is the use of information and communication technology to provide long-distance services between patients and pharmacists. The success factor for implementing telepharmacy is good willingness by pharmacists today and in the future. Assessment of the level of knowledge and perception of pharmacy students is very important as a determinant of their willingness in telepharmacy services because good knowledge and perception of students can increase their willingness to provide telepharmacy services as their future work. This study is a descriptive study using a questionnaire. The population in this study were Pharmacy S1 students in semesters 6 and 8 totaling 323 students. The results of the study obtained a good level of knowledge, a positive level of perception, and a high level of willingness to provide telepharmacy services. In the Chi-square test, there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and perception of students' willingness to provide telepharmacy services in the future with a p-value of 0.011 and 0.000 (sig <0.05) indicating that good knowledge and positive perceptions are related to high student willingness.

Abstract

This review discusses about that Clovibactin is a new antibiotic isolated from soil samples in the state of North Carolina. Clovibactin contains eight depsipeptide residues consisting of a macrolactone ring and a linear tail. This antibiotic is active against gram-positive bacteria, including drug-resistant human pathogens such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Vancomycin-resistant enterococci, dan Mycobacterium.tuberculosis. This review aims to assess the activity of clovibactin against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Clovibactin works by inhibiting all cell wall biosynthesis reactions that consume lipid I, lipid II, lipid IIIwall teichoic acid or undecaprenyl-pyrophosphate (C55PP). Clovibactin showed no cytotoxicity to National Institute of Health/3T3 and HepG2 cells in mammals at a dose of 100 µg/mL. Clovibactin has bactericidal properties on gram-positive bacteria. Clovibactin has an MIC of 0.5-1 µg/mL on M.tuberculosis so it has good bactericidal efficacy with low toxicity.
