Abstract

Patient safety is a fundamental determinant in the contemporary healthcare quality assurance framework. Although the accuracy of incident reporting in Primary Health Care Facilities (FKTP) in Indonesia still faces data challenges, the urgency of clinical risk mitigation remains a strategic priority in service quality transformation. The “X” Community Health Center in Makassar integrates patient safety standards as an essential instrument for quality improvement, as mandated by the national health regulatory framework to ensure comprehensive patient protection. The study investigates whether applying patient-centered care in community health centers can improve healthcare quality and reduce risk of errors for patients at the “X” Community Health Center in Makassar. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. The population in this study includes patients who receive health services at community health centers during the research period. They are the main parties who experience and implement patient-centered care, so they can evaluate its impact on service quality and patient safety. The sample is a subset of the population selected to represent the whole population. The sample represents both perspectives patients as service recipients and health workers as service providers.  (patients from several community health centers and healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, and other staff). The total sampel in this research is 7 recipients. The study locus is the “X” Community Health Center in Makassar, with data collection occurring from November to December 2025.  Data analysis indicates that the internalization of patient safety efforts at the “X” Community Health Center in Makassar has been aligned with FKTP accreditation instruments. However, empirical findings still reveal discrepancies in the realization of standards due to managerial and resource constraints. This condition suggests the need for systemic optimization and strengthening of a patient safety culture that involves all stakeholders to reduce existing operational barriers. The provision of safe and quality services is an essential prerequisite for achieving indicators of a healthy community. The acceleration of patient safety standards fulfillment at the Community Health Center must be consistently implemented, referring to the latest regulations, to ensure the sustainability of basic healthcare quality improvement.

Abstract

Anxiety and labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor are common physiological and psychological responses among primiparous women and may adversely affect labor outcomes if not properly managed. Increased anxiety can intensify pain perception through sympathetic activation and catecholamine release. Non-pharmacological interventions, including stimulation of acupressure points such as GB 21 Jianjing and LI 4 Hegu, may help reduce these responses. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure at GB 21 (Jianjing) and LI 4 (Hegu) on anxiety and labor pain in primiparous women. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design was conducted among 30 primiparous women in the active phase of labor selected through purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria were singleton pregnancy, 37–42 weeks’ gestation, cervical dilatation 4–7 cm, cephalic presentation, absence of obstetric complications, and willingness to participate. Women with high-risk conditions or those who had received prior pharmacological analgesia were excluded. Anxiety was measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), and pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of p 0.05. Before intervention, 76.7% of respondents experienced severe anxiety and 43.3% reported moderate pain. After acupressure, 43.3% reported mild anxiety and 50% mild pain. Statistical analysis showed significant reductions in both anxiety and pain (p 0.001). Acupressure at GB 21 and LI 4 significantly reduced anxiety and labor pain in primiparous women and may serve as a complementary intervention in maternity care. Further randomized controlled trials with larger samples are recommended.

Abstract

Eye fatigue represents a prevalent occupational health issue among workers who perform tasks requiring high visual accuracy and precision, such as eyelash artisans. Extended periods of close-distance visual work, insufficient lighting, and individual visual impairments can elevate the risk of eye strain and negatively affect work performance. Informal sector workers such as eyelash artisans are particularly vulnerable due to long working hours, repetitive tasks involving small objects, and inadequate workplace lighting. Preliminary observations in a home-based eyelash industry in Sumbang Village, Banyumas Regency indicated that many artisans complained of symptoms such as sore eyes, blurred vision, watery eyes, and headaches during or after work. This study aimed to identify factors related to eye fatigue complaints among eyelash artisans working in a home-based industry in Sumbang Village, Banyumas Regency. An explanatory study with a cross-sectional approach was carried out in August 2025 and involved 51 eyelash artisans selected through total sampling. The independent variables examined were age, refractive disorders, eye rest, duration of work, and lighting intensity, while eye fatigue complaints served as the dependent variable. Eye fatigue was assessed using the Visual Fatigue (VF) questionnaire, and lighting levels were measured with a lux meter. Data analysis included univariate analysis and bivariate analysis was performed using the Fisher exact test. The findings revealed that 86.3% of participants reported experiencing eye fatigue. Significant associations were found between eye fatigue complaints and age (p = 0.033), refractive disorders (p = 0.034), and lighting intensity (p = 0.021). In contrast, eye rest (p = 1.000) and work 7duration (p = 0.080) did not show significant relationships with eye fatigue. In conclusion, age, refractive disorders, and inadequate lighting intensity are key factors contributing to eye fatigue among eyelash artisans. Therefore, improving lighting conditions in the workplace and paying attention to workers’ visual health are crucial efforts to minimize eye fatigue and enhance occupational health in the informal sector. Recommendations for future research include longitudinal studies or controlled interventions that incorporate objective measurements (complete refraction examinations, accommodation amplitude, and work performance metrics) and multivariate analyses to examine the mediating/moderating role of age, refraction, and lighting in triggering eye fatigue.
