Abstract

Liberalism and gender equity has influenced the society so much that the different roles between men and women are minimized. Social agreements based on traditions, cultures, and religion are deliberately violated. Women are given opportunity to enter “masculine world”, such as becoming a president or a soldier. Men are given the opportunity to enter “feminine world”, such as becoming a women hair stylist or an OBGYN (a doctor that specializes in women’s reproductive’s health). Everyone is given the freedom to choose their own gender, furthermore, to change their sex organ when they feel comfortable with their choice of gender. Special education based on human’s natural gender is envisaged as discriminative and out dated. Literature research is conducted to understand if special education based on gender is a fruitless idea, if men and women have no unique needs according to their gender differences, and what Islamic perspective is on women education. The finding is an eye-opening. This article shows that brain research reveals a distinguished anatomy and function between male’s and female’s brains. Thus, it is only natural that each gender has unique needs. Further study shows, not only that men and women entail special education to fulfill their distinct needs, divergent methods of teaching are also important to boost both male and female students’ performance.

Abstract

The role of government is very important in an Islamic economy. The government is not only responsible for the establishment of Islamic values and norms in the society ,but also in economic matters such as fulfillment of basic needs, achieving full employment, price stability and low inflation, growth and development that lead to economic well being and welfare.  T o achieve that goal, the government certainly needs an appropriate policy to direct the economy into desired goal and direction. One of the policies is monetary policy .Monetary policy refers to the control of the supply of money to achieve and accomplish manageable inflation, price stability ,full employment and steady growth in the economy. This research tries to investigate the role of monetary policy and its implication on economic development in an Islamic perspective conceptually and theoretically. It found that the role of monetary policy is the same as that in modern economy, except that in Islamic economy ,the role of government is to ensure the Islamic values and nor ms to prevail in the society including the establishment of free interest economy and Islamic financial system that is free from interest based. The instruments of monetary policy in an Islamic perspective are not only confined in using open market operation, reserve ratio, discount rate, but also beyond those tools such as credit rationing, lending ratio and profit ratio which are based on the Islamic principles of interest free based economy.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an and Hadits are not other than a primary resource of law which can not be hesitated: also they have a symbiotic relationship between each other in determining the dictums of law. This article will elaborate the purposed of their relationship. There are at least four problems should be revealed: the case toward terminology of al-Qur’an and Hadits, the hierarchy of both, the function of Hadits toward al-Qur’an, and the elucidation of Hadits toward al-Qur’an. As the matter of fact, that al-Qur’an has lot designations, than also Hadits has not single designations, but it has some, such as al-sunnah, al-Khabar, and al-atsar. The most prominent function of Hadits in Islamic jurisprudence is to elaborate and describe the varied content of the al-Qur’an that is still global and multi-interpretation. This function can be understood because of the main task of the Prophet as the messenger was not other than elaborating and explaining all what Allah has revealed in the holy books to the universe. In the term of it wurud, al-Qur’an has reached the degree of Qath’I and different to Hadits which it level of isnad validation is dhanni except hadits mutawatir. Yet, seeing from the point of law or dalalah, al-Qur’an and Hadits are having an equal degree.

Abstract

This article discusses the interpretation of Abdul Moqsith Ghazali to al Baqarah [2]: 62 and al-Maidah [5]: 69, on the salvation of non-Muslim community according to religious pluralism. He used three methods of interpretation, which are tafsîr mauḍû’i, uṣûl al-fiqh, and hermeneutics. He said that the combination of them will produce a full understanding. Even so, the results are not as expected. Moqsith interprets the verses that seemed to support the idea of pluralism textually, until reject the interpretation of mufassirîn. He concludes that two verses above, do not explain about the obligation of Jews, Christians, and Shabiah in order to believe in Prophet Muhammad, but only explain about the obligation to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and do good deeds as defined in their holy books. Thus, according to him, the Qur’an does not only recognize religious teachings and people of other religions, however, they will be saved by God as far as they practice their religion. It is clear that the results of the interpretation of Moqsith very contradictory and not in accordance with interpretations of the Muslim scholars. Because of Moqsith’s weakness in method of interpretation, so create a partial understanding that the Qur’an legalizes religious pluralism. On the contrary, it is clear that the majority of mufassirûn did not argue that way.

Abstract

Bediuzzaman Said Nursi is one of Modern Muslim scholar who successfully synchronized between al-Qur’an and science. In one of his writing, “Risale-i Nur”Nursi presented what called by “The Book of Universe”. Writer found that Nursi’s argumentation built on his representation upon this universe as reading object –Book of Universe- , then to reach the complete understanding toward this ‘book’ is not another than full reflective thought (tefekkür) as a scientific progress to achieve knowledge truth compatible with al-Qur’an. Tefekkür built on unity of rational intellect and Sufism way of heart purity to create this “reading” process toward universe as a spiritual-scientific point of view. Human knowledge that synergistic between the Qur’an and the universe will deliver to the purpose of human existence is that he should recognize Him. Finally, writer conclude that Risale-i Nur is a new methodology in al-Qur’an development based on rational, logic and reflective thought system in the metaphorical word; “Book”, that is worth the idealism as a offer of modern perspective to criticize Western science and philosophy which often role negatively to Islamic Studies.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an with its verses becomes the economic foundation that has given the principles of life in relationships between man and his fellowmen. It contains rules and guidance to do good things and tyranny. Al-Qur’an which is foundation of the whole teachings of Islam is not just about rules and prohibitions, but provides assurance for the realization of economic prosperity of the community. The writer intends to reveal the clarity of the concept of pesantren cooperative management for the economic welfare of community in the perspective of surah al-Hashr verse 7. Al-Qur’an believes that economic welfare is not only the problem of economic distribution materially but also concerning non material and other felds. Therefore, to achieve growth and development materially and spiritually, Islamic economics has characteristics in its growth, which is all-round, balanced, realistic, fair, responsible, suffcient, and focusing on human beings in accordance with their right as khalifah. These characteristics indicate that the goal of growth and economic development in Islam is the opportunity of all members of any community of race, religion, and character to gain prosperity, so that everyone can experience the blessings and grace of Allah. Al-Qur’an demands all to carry out the whole teaching of Islam in all aspects of their life. Therefore, economic welfare should be viewed as the embodiment of God’s command to his servants. Then, economic welfare would be a continuous effort of mankind to do the best, both to God and fellow human beings based on the guidance of al-Qur’an.

Abstract

The background of this article is the emergence of new studies that argue about the origin of Walisongo and the school of faith (akidah) they adopted. On the other hand, historical writings about Walisongo are still dominated by many tales and legends. Eventhough the history of Walisongo is real, but if it is dominated by tales or legends, then in time it could become vague and full of doubt. Current debates about the identity of Walisongo have begun to enter the territory of academic studies. Orientalists, for instance, have their own perspectives about the subject, together with some historians of Nusantara. Different opinions about the subject are also found among the writers of the history of Nusantara. In this study, the author found that the Orientalist studies of Walisongo which conclude that they were not from Arab had some colonial motives and interests, and also some ideological backgrounds. Orientalists assume that it was the Arab is Islam. Therefore, their studies were directed to the Indian-centric framework. This orientalist politics is called notification. This movement is held by raising local Non-Muslims cultures. For example, by promoting Hindu-Buddhist culture as the national native culture and burying Islamic culture in which it was stigmatized as foreign Arab culture. In the context of this study, most Orientalists refused the fact of the Arab as the origin of Walisongo. They tend to choose the other opinion that stated that Walisongo came from India. Meanwhile, some new studies of Indonesian scholars questioned the school of faith (aqeedah) of Walisongo. Some of their finding that stated that Walisongo were Shia is still based on assumptions. This is the main reason why such studies have to be examined more carefully in this article.
