Abstract

Coriander fruit (Coriandrum sativum Lour) has long been used and utilized by humans as a medicine to lower blood sugar levels. This study aimed to test the ethanol extract of coriander (Coriandrum sativum Lour) against alloxan-induced reduction in blood sugar levels in white rats. This study used 30 male white rats induced with 120 mg/kgBW of alloxan solution. The treatment was carried out after 72 hours of alloxan induction and measurement of blood sugar levels that had previously been fasted for 12 hours.  The maximum effective dose of alloxan in diabetic rats was 800 mg/kgBW. Coriander seed extract showed the most effective effectiveness in improving sperm quality. Coriander seed extract at the highest dose of 800 mg/kgBW showed the highest motility among all groups of rats receiving coriander seed extract, which was 67.37 ± 0.57%; the highest viability was 88.76 (87.76-89.67)% ; the highest density was 12.40 (10.20-12.60) x106/ml. Increasing the dose of coriander seed extract significantly improved sperm quality both through the density, mobility, and sperm viability of alloxan-induced diabetic rats (P < 0.05 for each) of alloxan-induced diabetic rat sperm cells

Abstract

A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a type of biological fuel cell that converts chemical energy stored in an organic mixture into electrical energy that further penetrates the catalytic reaction of microorganisms. The Sediment Microbial Fuel Cell (SMFC) is a microbial fuel cell that can convert complex organic matter in the sediment to generate electrons. This research was conducted by designing a single chamber SMFC power generation system using graphite and carbon fiber electrodes. As a result, the single-chamber SMFC system with carbon fiber electrode performed better with an average electric power output of 561.11 mW for 21 days.

Abstract

Let G be an arbitrary non-trivial connected graph. An edge-colored graph G is called a rainbow connected if any two vertices are connected by a path whose edges have distinct colors, such path is called a rainbow path. The smallest number of colors required to make G rainbow connected is called the rainbow connection number of G, denoted by rc(G). A snowflake graph is a graph obtained by resembling one of the snowflake shapes into vertices and edges so that it forms a simple graph. Let  be a generalized snowflake graph, i.e., a graph with  paths of the stem,  pair of outer leaves,  middle circles, and  pairs of inner leaves. In this paper we determine the rainbow connection number for generalized snowflake graph .

Abstract

Organic waste is mainly categorized in recent days as household waste and city garbage. To meet eco-friendly waste management, incorrect composter or conventional composting methods do not fulfilling the demands even though sometimes the composting procedure is so lengthy. To speed up the composting process, our research team has developed an aerobic composter using microorganisms, e.g., Trichoderma, Effective Microorganism 4 (EM4), and a combination of Trichoderma. Three different aerobic rolling composters (ARC) were designed to speed up the composting process during the testing stage by employing EM4. It showed a greater reduction in waste height utilizing EM4 on the 15th day (3.8%-17.9%) than the conventional one (2%). In addition, inoculation of EM4 and Trichoderma in combination with EM4 caused a 45% reduction in weight. Thus, the composter (type 3) efficiently decomposes the waste with a shorter composting period.

Abstract

Free radicals have very unstable and reactive molecules. Excessive free radicals can trigger oxidative stress and cause various diseases. The peel of red dragon fruit contains chemical compounds that shows potential as an antioxidants. This study aims to optimize the benefits of red dragon fruit peels as tea bags because its convenient and simple to use. Design of this study was a randomized block design (RBD) which consisted of two factors, the drying temperature of the red dragon fruit skin (T) and the teabag formulation (F). Ginger and cinnamon are added as flavoring ingredients to the formula. The result showed that the drying temperature of the peel red dragon fruit affects the antioxidant activity of the teabag, where T1 has the highest antioxidant activity. The formulation of teabags also affects the antioxidant activity of the teabag, where F1 has the highest antioxidant activity. T1F1 had the highest antioxidant activity, and the interaction between the two (T and F) had a significant effect on antioxidant activity (p < 0.05).

Abstract

This research is to test the N-1 security contingency analysis using the IEEE 9 bus application performance index method. In this study, the N-1 contingency was carried out where only one discharge between buses occurred which was implemented on the IEEE 9 bus system using the Newton Raphson power flow method. . From the results of the power flow calculation, the active power value of the channel is taken with the maximum iteration limit that has been determined to achieve a convergent value in the method. Channel ranking is based on Performance Index (PI) values. PI calculation is done every channel release with the help of Etap 12.6 software. In the first channel discharge scenario, the largest PI value is found on channels 9-8 with PI 3.0658 because the bus is overloaded. Not all channels are overloaded when a channel is released, one of which is still able to accommodate the load, this occurs on channels 3 Bus 7 to Bus 8 of 0.5418. Then to overcome these advantages added loading power so as not to become too heavy and the value of the performance index is reduced.

Abstract

One of the most prevalent cancers in Indonesia is breast cancer, based on Indonesia's pathological-based registration.    Breast cancer is a complex, heterogeneous disease classified into hormone-receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 overexpressing (HER2+) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) based on histological features. Patients with HR+, HER2- Early Breast Cancer (EBC) do not experience recurrence or recurrence for a long time with currently available standard therapy [11]. However, up to 30% of patients with high-risk clinical and/or pathological features may experience a relapse in the first few years. This results in the need for research and development regarding updates in medicine both in terms of treatment and targets and drug compounds used. The c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) protein functions in signaling and influences the apoptotic pathway as well as cancer cell survival. In this study, an insilico screening experiment of inhibitory compounds was carried out on the JNK protein receptor target by screening compounds and molecular docking of compounds for breast cancer therapy. Two novel herbal compounds, Mangostin and ent-Copalyl Dyphospate, have the potential to be turned into medicines that may cause apoptosis through JNK protein targets according to an in-silico-based molecular simulation technique

Abstract

Geographical location and topography determine the characteristics of atmospheric parameters in a location. This study aims to determine the comparison between wind patterns that occur in coastal and non-coastal areas, then the correlation between wind patterns and parameters of temperature, humidity and rainfall that occur at the Tanjung Priok Maritime Station and the Curug Meteorological Station. The chosen research method is descriptive analysis. This result is analysis of hourly wind data at the Tanjung Priok Maritime Station is dominated by local winds or sea breezes while the Curug Station is dominated by monsoon winds. The dominant wind direction in the months of the transitional season has a smaller percentage than in other months. Furthermore, the rainfall is dominated by rainfall from the west in the seasonal pattern as well as the humidity parameters at the two research stations. Temperatures in coastal areas as a whole are higher than non-coastal temperatures with a difference of up to 3 degrees Celsius. Last, in the temperature trend there is a random distribution pattern at the Curug meteorological station and there is no trend at the Tanjung Priok Maritime Station. The largest temperature is the same in 2019 and the average temperature is 0.3/year.
