Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infection that attacks the lungs and can cause inflammation of the air sacs due to the alveoli is filled with pus and fluid. This research aims at identifying factors influencing pneumonia and mapping its incidence rate for toddlers in the Purwakarta Regency. Many factors influence pneumonia, but due to the limitation of data or information, some factors cannot be included in the model and are called omitted variables. The incidence rate of toddler pneumonia in sub-districts of Purwakarta Regency is assumed to be related to one another or have a spatial dependency. Therefore, modeling pneumonia with the Fixed Effect Spatial Model can accommodate spatial aspects. The results show that MR2 measles immunization, low birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, and clean and healthy living habits significantly affect the incidence rate of toddler pneumonia. Based on the mapping results, Wanayasa sub-district has a high incidence rate of toddler pneumonia, while some sub-districts such as Campaka, Pondoksalam, and Darangdan have low incidence rates.

Abstract

The success of TB management in Indonesia is determined through 3 indicators, namely Case Notification Rate (CNR), Case Detection Rate (CDR), and Succes Rate. In 2022  Tanah Tinggi Public Health Center experienced a decrease in case discovery with a figure of 393 cases, this figure is lower than in 2020, namely 522 cases. The purpose of this study is to determine implementation case discovery in an effort to overcome TB at the Tanah Tinggi Health Center. This research was conducted in October 2022 using a qualitative method, primary data collection was obtained through in-depth interviews of Public Health Center officers and TB patients. The research informants were 7 people with 3 main informants and 4 triangulation informants. The results of the study found that policy followed PERMENKES No. 67 of 2016. Communication with the community is still constrained by the bad stigma that spreads. Implementing personnel at the Puskesmas are not sufficient in quantity and quality, and there is duplicate work that causes obstacles to achievement targets, scheduling activities have not been determined and case findings are also still passive. The implementation of TB case discovery at puskesmas has not reached the target because case discovery has decreased since 2020.

Abstract

Bio floc aquaculture techniques are present as a solution to increase the productivity of fish farming. However, until now there are still problems, namely regarding the quality of the water from the pond. In this study, a monitoring tool was designed using an ESP32 microcontroller with the support of a BME280 sensor, RTD PT100 to measure water temperature and a turbidity sensor to measure floc volume. Furthermore, this sensor is planted on Wi-Fi to be able to connect to the internet network for IoT applications so that it can be monitored in real time. Likewise, the display results from the monitoring of the application system are directly read on the Google sheet display and in real time. From the test results of the system built, obtained the accuracy level of the BME280 sensor is 96.5%, PT100 RTD is 94.6% and for the turbidity sensor is 98%. Meanwhile the observed air temperature value can reach 34.36°C, the water temperature reaches 28.75°C, and the floc ratio reaches 30.15 mL.L-1. From the results shown, it clearly indicates that the water quality monitoring system has been successful and is working very well.

Abstract

This study presents an investigation into the optimal concentration of binahong (Anredera cordifolia) extract for enhancing the growth, yield, and mitigating leaf blight in shallots. Conducted within a controlled environment at a well-established laboratory, the experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD) to evaluate the effects of five different concentrations of binahong leaf extract. Data analysis included variance tests, and when significant effects were identified, Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) was employed to further examine the results. The findings demonstrate that a 30% concentration of binahong (Anredera cordifolia) extract significantly improves growth, yield, and effectively suppresses the development of Red onion(Allium ascalonicum L.)  leaf blight. Moreover, this concentration resulted in a wet tuber weight per hill of 76.30 g. These insights contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices and offer a promising alternative to chemical-based treatments for managing crop diseases, thereby advancing our understanding of the potential applications of binahong (Anredera cordifolia) extract in agricultural settings.

Abstract

Skin aging is a physiological process marked by changes in the skin's structure, giving rise to the characteristics of skin aging, such as pigmentation. Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) identify genetic profiles that play a role in skin aging characteristics such as pigmentation. This study aimed to gather information about candidate SNPs and genes related to pigmentation characteristics of skin aging across different populations. We systematically searched relevant articles published in PubMed and ProQuest in the last ten years. Out of 212 articles screened, seven studies pertinent to our research are included in the analysis. Results indicated that in European and East Asian populations, several gene candidates such as IRF4, MC1R, ASIP, BNC2, PPARGC1B, RAB11FIP2, and CYP1A associated with SNPs that are known to have functions related to skin aging. However, further comprehensive analysis is needed to understand the functional correlation between SNP or gene candidates and pigmentation. In addition, the diversity of the subjects in the GWAS is still concerning. The future comprehensive analysis of GWAS, which involves underrepresented ones, is needed to broaden the knowledge of skin aging mechanisms across different populations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimum condition of hydrogen gas produced through the electrolysis process of dry cell generators using RSM progran. To produce hydrogen gas is done through the method of water electrolysis by decomposing the molecule H2O into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas with the help of direct electric current. Hydrogen gas productivity by electrolysis method applied to DC generators using 4/4 plate electodes (Cu/Al) as cathodes and NaNO3 solutions as electrolytes. The current and voltage used in this electrolysis process is 0.6 ampere and 2 volts for 1 hour. The concentration of hydrogen gas produced is determined using the MQ-8 sensor. The optimum condition of hydrogen gas concentration obtained is at NaNO 31 M concentration and 60 minutes with hydrogen concentration produced as much as 143.393 ppm. The verification result value for hydrogen gas concentration is 144 ppm, so the program's recommended solution is good enough.

Abstract

The use of AGP (Antibiotic Growth Promoter) in several countries has been widely banned in broiler cultivation, thus triggering experts to discover the use of medicinal plants as antibiotics and natural broiler growth promoters. One of the active substances that function as AGP is flavonoids. Bitter leaves are one of the medicinal plants containing saponins, tannins and flavonoids which have functions as antibacterial, antifungal, antidiabetic, antiplasmodial and anticarcinogenic. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of adding fermented Bitter leaf extract (Vernonia amygdalina) to drinking water on the physiological organs of broilers, and to determine the correct dose of adding fermented Bitter leaf extract to drinking water on physiological organs of broilers. The research results obtained were the addition of fermented extract of  Bitter leaves (Vernonia amygdalina) in drinking water had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of broiler heart, liver and spleen. The addition of fermented  Bitter leaf extract (Vernonia amygdalina) up to 15% in drinking water can be tolerated against the heart, liver and spleen in broiler drinking water. The addition of fermented Bitter leaf extract has a good effect on internal organs, namely the heart, liver and spleen.

Abstract

Developing new routes in the shipping business, the calculation uses the formula determined by the Minister of Transportation No.  KM.  58 of 2003. However, this manual calculation takes a long time, and the possibility of human error is large.  So, we need a more effective and efficient way to calculate the fuel needed to cover a certain distance.  In this study, a simulator was developed that uses the spherical triangle concept to determine the distance and direction of the ship and then integrates it with the formula to get the results of the fuel calculation.  From the results of trials using the Bung Tomo Training Ship, the results of calculations are faster and more accurate.  The simulator positively affects cadets when applied in applied mathematics classes (85% through response questionnaire results and 87% competency test).

Abstract

Inflammation in asthma occurs due to the activation of various cells that produce proinflammatory cytokines. Corticosteroid treatment can affect bone formation, impacting vitamin D levels and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzyme activity. This study aimed to evaluate the decrease in vitamin D and increase in ALP due to inflammatory events characterized by an increase in interleukin-17A (IL-17A). The research design is a case-control design. Thirty-four adults with asthma and 34 healthy controls were monitored for blood through laboratory testing. Comparative and correlation statistics were analyzed using Medcalc ver. 19.0.7. All three laboratory parameters showed significant differences between the asthmatic and control groups (P < 0.05). Each vitamin D and ALP gave a good correlated wellults of the IL-17A examination (r = -0.2950; P = 0.015 and r = 0.2590; P = 0.033). There is no significant correlation between Vitamin D and ALP (r = -0.0483; P = 0.696). Moreover, ALP showed a low sensitivity (32%) in identifying vitamin D deficiency in asthmatic patients.
