Abstract

Ramadona, D., Gunawan, B., Kurnia, F. N., Valentine, D. P., Ganda, G., Ahmad, M., Norarita, Y., & Nurasni, S. (2023).  Infentarization of leaf blight in maize in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang  21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 237-251). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the food commodities that has an important role in Indonesia after rice and has considerable market opportunities. This study aimed to determine the control of leaf blight in corn plants in Suka Menang village, Gelumbang sub-district, Muara Enim district, South Sumatra. Data collected included the type of disease that attacked and its intensity. The results of the research obtained from 5 farmers' fields in Suka Menang village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency, namely the highest level of disease, were found on Mrs. Watini's land (58.00%), Mr. Manijo's land (37.50%), and Mr. Supriyadi's land (15.50%). In plant maintenance on five corn fields, there are farmers who carry out plant maintenance, such as weeding, and some do not. Farmers who do weed have different frequencies. The control carried out by farmers in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency combines technical culture control with intercropping, variety selection, and chemical control with pesticides. Results of this study indicate that corn farmers in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang District, and Muara Enim Regency have mostly controlled leaf blight on corn plants. Maize farmers in Suka Menang village have used vegetable pesticides but the effects are long-lasting so according to farmers, it is not effective enough to fulfill such consumer demands. Therefore, farmers inevitably still use chemical pesticides even though they have to pay additional costs. In addition, the reason chemical pesticides are still used is because of the pressure from consumers who want good and smooth corn yields and a lot of demand. So, the conclusion of this study is that indirectly the behavior of farmers in cultivation has carried out the components of integrated disease control on the five corn fields including crop rotation, land sanitation, variety selection, balanced fertilization, technical culture and others.

Abstract

Yuliarti, A., Simanjuntak, P. P., & Ardiani, N. (2023). Identifying trends in extreme climate patterns in Pangkalpinang. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 417-427). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Human activities have led to an increase in global temperatures. This also increases the frequency of extreme climates such as extreme rainfall and air temperatures. Pangkalpinang City is the capital of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The growth rate of Pangkalpinang city is approximately 1.1% per year, with a 29% increase in the number of vehicles being one of the factors contributing to the rise in extreme climate events. This research aimed to examine the trends in extreme air temperatures and extreme rainfall in Pangkalpinang city during the period of 1991-2022. The research method used is secondary data research with a quantitative approach. The study utilized 12 extreme climate indices as defined by ETCCDMI, comprising 7 extreme air temperature indices and 5 extreme rainfall indices. The significant extreme air temperature trend indicates an increase in air temperature in Pangkalpinang, especially the annual average daily maximum temperature of 0.018°C/year, the annual average daily minimum temperature of 0.025°C/year, while the TN10P (Cold night) index experienced a decrease of 0.344°C/year which is the opposite of the TX90p (Warm Days) index trend of 0.273°C/year. The rainfall trend in Pangkalpinang has not changed significantly.

Abstract

Haqi, M., Armansyah, A. (2023). Community empowerment through the integrated urban farming program buruan SAE in Bandung City. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang  21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 513-522).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Bandung as a metropolitan city and service city is experiencing land conversion. The food situation in Bandung City is that almost 96% of the food in Bandung City is imported from outside the Bandung City area, making it vulnerable to food insecurity regarding food availability and sufficiency. The Bandung City Government established an integrated urban farming program called Buruan SAE. This program takes the form of community empowerment activities which aim to overcome food inequality through the use of yards or empty land to make people more independent in meeting their own food needs. This research aimed to describe a form of community empowerment through an integrated urban farming program in the Buruan SAE Pemuda Mandiri group, Sukawarna Subdistrict, Bandung City. Apart from that, this research is an effort to improve urban farming that is suitable for the city of Bandung in the future. The method uses qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, documentation, and literature studies. Interviews were conducted in March 2023 with active administrators of Buruan SAE Pemuda Mandiri and supporting informants. The research results show that the stages of community empowerment through the urban farming program in the Pemuda Tangguh farmer group go through three stages, namely the awareness, capacity building, and empowerment stages. Urban farming has a sustainable impact on the economic aspect by meeting their own food needs and gaining profits from the harvest. In the socio-cultural aspect, creating a culture of cooperation and helping each other in food security and the ecological aspect, creating green open spaces in urban areas. Based on the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that the Buruan SAE Pemuda Mandiri urban farming program shows that community empowerment is being realized well.

Abstract

Nuibadah, N., Iskandar, H., Jafar, S., Sari, E., Rahman, A., Sari, P. (2023). Implementation model for gender mainstreaming in the beauty, cleanliness and order (K3) program in Lhokseumawe City. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang  21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 65–77).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The text discusses the implementation model of the K3 Program in Lhokseumawe City, which focuses on beauty, cleanliness, and order. The program aimed to ensure equal participation from both men and women in development. However, social norms and gender inequality often marginalize women, preventing them from accessing and governing the K3 programs. The research method used is qualitative, employing a sociological empirical/juridical approach. Primary and secondary data were collected through interviews with selected individuals who represent the relevance of the research. The results reveal a model for implementing gender mainstreaming in the K3 Program, which includes direct and indirect supervision, providing equal opportunities for men and women, and program monitoring and evaluation. Challenges in implementing gender mainstreaming in Lhokseumawe City include a lack of concern among individuals, erosion of ethics and morals, and the absence of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Efforts made to address these challenges include creating a website on gender issues, involving women in all stages of the program, forming a women's community, and reviving abandoned clean-up activities. It is recommended that women be involved in the drafting of SOPs for the implementation of the K3 Program and Qanun orderliness.

Growth yield and segregation of several f3 generation of pepper accessions selected from the cross of curly and cayenne peppers. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang  21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 358-369). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Suboptimal land, in general,  refers to condition of the land not prefectly suitable for cultivation, including those containing propagul caused disease infestation. On pepper cultivation, very often occurs disease infestation such as antracnose desease. Crossing curly and cayenne peppers was intended to obtain accessions of curly pepper having fruit position upward such as in cayenne pepper that capable of avoiding  several diseases infestation.  The F3-seeds were  prepared 3 years prior to this research with selection to choose plant genotypes having fruit position upward. Research was done in-cooperation with farmer at Kecamatan Gunung Megang, Muaraenim on December 2022 to May 2023 based on Randomized Block Design with  two accessions and three blocks with 10-15 plants per plot. Research  indicated that both accessions showed good growth and yield with relatively similar harvesting period and yield potential. Interestingly, we observed several recombinat plants having fruit shape identical to curly peppers with fruit position upward.  The plants of CK3(2)xCR3(6) accession, however had more slender fruit shape as compared to CK6(8)xCR6(4) accession. Furthermore observation indicated the presence of segregation of this character. Accession of CK3(2)xCR3(6) showed higher segregation value of 50% than CK6(8)xCR6(4) accession  with segregation value of  25%.

Abstract

Susilawati, S., Sodikin, E., Sulaiman ,F., & Irmawati, I. (2023). The effect of bulb size on the initial growth of three varieties of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.). In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang  21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 151-162).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Both vegetative (using bulbs as planting material) and generative (using seeds) methods can be used to cultivate shallot plants. Although using bulbs is simpler, it has a number of drawbacks, including the need for more seeds, relatively high costs, and the challenge of planning a planting timetable. In order to support the growth of three types of shallots, this study sought to assess the strength of the correlation and regression models of the bulb features.  The study was carried out during June and July 2023 in Tanjung Pering Village, Indralaya Utara Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, at coordinates 003 13'00" LS and 104 38'16" E. A Randomized Block Design with two components and three replications was employed in the study. The first factor is the utilization of three different varieties: Bauji, Bima Brebes, and Tajuk. The second component is bulb size, which comes in three sizes: small (1.5 cm), medium (1.5 cm to 2.0 cm), and large (>2.0 cm). The research plot measured 150  cm by 100 cm, and each treatment plot had 21 plants. The parameters that were measured included the bulb character, which included the diameter, weight, length, and volume of the bulb, and the bulbs initial growth, which included the leaf length, number of leaves, tillers, and SPAD value. Based on the coefficient of determination (R2), the findings demonstrated that the linear zero-intercept model consistently performed better than other regression models in correlating bulb diameter with bulb length, weight, and volume. The Tajuk variety had the most leaves and tillers but the lowest SPAD score when varieties and bulb sizes were combined early in growth. Shallot plants develop best in their early stages on little bulbs. Conclusion the most accurate model for correlation between bulbs characters uses a zero intercept linear regression model.

Abstract

Prayoga, A., Gustiar, F.,  Marlina, M., Budianta, D., Ammar, M., Susilawati, S. (2023). Growth and yield of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) intercropping chaya plants (Cnidocolus aconitifolius) with different canopy sizes. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 306-317).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Intercropping is planting pattern that cultivates more than one type of plant in a certain unit of time aimed at increasing productivity. This study was conducted to examine the size of the chaya plant crown and the density of mustard plants using an intercropping system in the area of chaya plants (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) in order to obtain optimal production and growth results. This study was conducted using a split plot design with two factors. The first factor as the main plot of the cultivation system is 3 treatments, namely conventional / monoculture (K0), intercropping on chaya plants with a header diameter of 80 cm (K1), and intercropping on chaya plants with a crown diameter of 120 cm (K2). The second factor is the density or planting distance as a child plot with a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm (P1), and a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm (P2). The data that has been obtained is then analyzed by the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method using the R-Studio application. The results showed that the cultivation of mustard greens (B. juncea L.) tosakan variety with intercropping patterns on conventional obtained the best results. But the 80 cm chaya plant canopy is not significantly different from conventional planting patterns so it can be said that the 80 cm chaya canopy is better than the 120 cm chaya plant canopy. The optimal planting distance is a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm because it is not significantly different from a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm in terms of the quality of the results obtained. In terms of quantity, a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm will produce more production results than a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm. So it can be concluded that the cultivation of mustard greens (B. juncea L.) varieties of intercropping chaya plants (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) can be done on the chaya crown 80 cm and with a planting distance of 15x15 cm.
