Abstract

Widyanto, H., Mahdianto, C., & Rahmah, S. (2024). Predation characteristics of Ischiodon sp. and Coccinella sp. against rophalosiphum maidis under laboratory condition. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 768– 777). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The use of predators as biological pest control agents must consider various ecological and biological factors of the predator, one of which is the characteristics of predation which can later provide information for field applications. The aimed of this study was to observe the characteristics of predation of several types of predators on the density of Rophalosiphum maidis prey. This study was conducted using three types of predators, namely Ischiodon sp. larvae, larvae and adult of Coccinella sp. with 5 levels of prey abundance, namely 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 aphids. The observations made were the duration of searching and handling prey and the functional response of each predator tested. The results showed that the searching and handling time of prey by the three predators increased as the abundance of the prey population increased. Functional responses of predator larvae Ischiodon sp., larvae and imago Coccinella sp. to prey density level treatments varied based on observation time, the type of functional response was the linear type (1st type), exponential type (2nd type) and sigmoid type (3rd type). The predation ability of the three types of predators on aphids increased along with the increase in prey population and observation time. Ischiodon sp. larvae and the adult of Coccinella sp. more effective compared to the larvae of Coccinella sp. in preying on aphids because they have a faster searching and handling time along with increasing prey density.

Halimi, E. S., A. Wulandari., F. Adriansyah., & M. Andesta. (2024). Evaluation on growth production and selection of  corn plants generation f1-f2 from the cross of  sweet and purple-corn. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang  21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 323–334).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Sweet-corn  is a popular agricultural product in Indonesia, most of  the varieties are yellow, white and not as purple. This research was to part of plant breeding program to evaluate the growth of F1-generation seeds and develop sweet corn varieties have high brix-levels and are purple in-color. Prior to this research crossing was made between sweet-corn variety as female and purple-corn as male parent. In this research, the F1-seeds resulted for that cross were planted along with the remnant-seeds of female parent in a Randomized Block Design. The research utilized dual-planting system, each to produce baby and sweet-corn and one other remaining plants were maintained to produce dry-seed. The research results avarage plant-heigh was 271.71 cm, male and female anthesis were at 46-days and 50-days. The baby-corns were harvested at 54-days, with avarege fresh-weight of 27.70 g/cob with sugar content of 4.5 %brix and the sweet-corn were harvested at 73-days, with average fresh-weight of 29440 g/cob and sugar content of 12.5 %brix. Special observation on sugar-content of  sweet-corn having purple seed resulted in 7.5 %brix as compare to population average of 12.5 %brix and the famale parent of 13.0 %brix. The seeds-color, however, were segregated to be yellow, white, and purple. Selection of-seeds from dry-cobs resulted in 10 purple-seeds cobs, among which 916 grains have a-wrinkled texture. These seeds could be good genetic material for next reaseacrh to develop new purple sweet-corn variety. Result of this research indicated that F1-plants were capable to-grow and produce baby-corn, sweet-corn, as-well as F2-generation seeds well.

(2024). population and storage pest species from three local markets with various roofs, floors, and ventilations in Sub-district of Alang-Alang Lebar and Sukarame, Palembang South Sumatera. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 679–689). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Storage insects provide a substantial risk to food spoiling, potentially resulting in a considerable reduction of up to 82.5% in food preservation. Ventilation is essential to avert harm caused by storage insect infestations. This study aimed to identify species and assess the population of storage pest insects in relation to the kind of ventilation in the Alang-Alang Lebar and Sukarame market's storage facilities. This study employed a direct collecting strategy for insects spotted on each food product commodity through handpicking, followed by the identification of each obtained sample. The identified bug species vary due to the diversity of dietary products. Species such Sitophilus oryzae and Tribolium castenum were predominant, alongside several others such as Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Carpophilus dimidiatus, Callosobruchus chinensis, Rhyzopertha dominica, and Oryzaephilus surinamensis. In the rice commodities market in Alang Alang Lebar District, the storage pest species S. oryzae was identified. S. oryzae is an insect pest that inflicts damage on stored rice. Sitophilus oryzae was found as the insect pest responsible for the majority of damage to stored rice. The peanut commodities in the Kebun Bunga Market and KM 5 Market comprised the species C. dimidiatus. C. dimidiatus was a significant pest that infests dry grains and fruits after harvest. The yield loss resulting from the assault of C. dimidiatus was quite substantial. Fermented peanut products were found as the primary target of C. dimidiatus. Seven species were identified in the storage with filtered ventilation. The pest insects infestation was deemed low due to the relatively small population, indicating the efficacy of both natural and filtered ventilation systems.

Sari, D. D., Sulaiman, F., Irmawati, I., Rethanasya, D., Sonnia, R. R., Damayanti, S. H., Pamungkas, R., Miralisa, A. T. (2024). Growth and yield of cassava alabio plants (Dioscorea alata L.) given liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from goat manure. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 235–243). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Ubi alabio (Dioscorea alata L.) is a type of yam plant that is widely cultivated in lebak swamplands and is classified as a shrub and grows vines with a length of 3-10 metres. Problems that are still faced by many farmers, namely the presence of pest attacks by caterpillars, beetles and aphids so that good tillage and plant maintenance are needed. This study aimed to determine the optimal growth results of alabio sweet potatoes with the use of Liquid Organic Fertiliser from goat manure. The method used is Randomised Group Design (RAK), which is a repetition method. The results of this study that the goat manure POC factor consists of 5 levels with 5 replicates and each replicate consists of 5 plants, so that the number of plants observed is 125 plants. In stem length, goat manure POC affects plant growth, stem length is increasingly influential at week 4 after planting, but at week 16 the plant has no real effect. In the analysis of stem height observations, goat manure POC had no significant effect on the growth of the main stem height with the highest number of 546 cm at 16 weeks after planting. For the number of leaves, POC has no significant effect on the observation variable time at the highest result is at 291.8 at 16 weeks after planting. In the observation of the number of branches, goat manure POC had no significant effect on the number of branches, for the highest results obtained at 6.44 at 16 weeks after planting. This study concluded that the use of POC from goat manure can be a good alternative to increase agricultural yields, although it is necessary to choose the right concentration to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Lestari, T., Niswarni, A., & Pratama, D. (2024). Optimization of growth and yield of sorgum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) plant with application of biosaka and NPK fertilzer on post-tin mining land. In: Herlinda S et al.(Eds), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 580-590). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Post-tin mining land is land that is low in nutrients. The low nutrient content causes the land to not be used optimally. Sorghum plants are one alternative to be developed in post-tin mining land. Sorghum plant growth and yield can be optimized by providing biosaka and NPK fertilizer. The research was conducted from January to June 2024. The research location was in the Kampoeng Reclamation Air Jangkang land, Merawang District, Bangka Regency. This study used an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RAK) split splot consisting of 2 plots. The main map is without biosaca (A0) and biosaca and (A1), and the sub-plot of NPK use consisting of 4 levels, namely without NPK fertilizer (B1), 50% NPK (B2), 75% NPK (B3), and 100% NPK (B4). The results of the analysis of post-mining land soil have acidic pH soil content, C-Organic content, N-total in the very low category, with high sand content reaching 96%, and very low dust and clay content of 2%. The results of the study showed that the application of biosaca and NPK fertilizer did not show any interaction with all observed variables . Biosaca application on sorghum plants showed no effect on the observed variables. The use of various doses of NPK fertilizer treatment showed a very significant effect on the variables of plant height, wet weight of the crown and wet weight of the roots, and also affected the variables of stem diameter and panicle length. Treatment without biosaca and 100% NPK fertilizer produced better results compared to treatment with biosaca administration.

Abstract

Hidayatullah, M. R., Puspitahati, P., & Syahadan, S. (2024). Optimization of swamp land through reclamation of irrigation and drainage systems in Banyuasin Village. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 918–928).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Swampland has great potential to be planted, but it is often difficult to make full use of it due to watery environmental conditions and unstable soil. In an effort to increase agricultural productivity, optimizing the use of swamp land is an urgent need. One approach that can be done is to implement an efficient and targeted irrigation system. This study aimed to find out and study how swamp land optimization uses irrigation systems and study the problems and obstacles faced when optimizing swamp land using irrigation systems in Bangka Regency. The method used in this study is an observation method which includes direct observation in the field, interviews with staff, and data recording. The conclusion of this study is that the rice field in Banyuasin Village covers an area of 80 ha with 6 ha being forests and swamps. However, with the existence of swamp land optimization activities, it can increase the planting area by 26 ha so that there are 100 ha of rice paddy land that can be planted with rice, The problems experienced in swamp land are often flooded if it rains excessively and drought if it is dry season, The obstacles faced are, the development of irrigation canal infrastructure which is still not comprehensive in the rice fields of Banyuasin Village,  Where it is still in the form of soil excavation only so that water has not optimally flowed to the rice field map. The strategy carried out to overcome these obstacles is to build permanent irrigation canals and reclaim irrigation and drainage canals that have been carried out by the Bangka Regency Food and Agriculture Office.

(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 143–155). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Storage pests caused considerable harm in storage facilities due to their quick reproductive capacity, ease of dissemination, and facilitation of mold proliferation. This research aimed to identify insect species present in storage commodities through the observation and morphological identification of warehouse pest species. The research was performed via a microscope and identification manuals, with specimens gathered from the distribution of warehouse insects in the markets of Palembang City. Data acquired using sample techniques and specification determination. Observations conducted in various marketplaces within the Palembang region revealed that the warehouse pest population table indicated distinct population variability for each species across the markets. The species comprise Sitophilus oryzae, Tribolium castaneum, Oryzaephilus surinamensis, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Carpophilus dimidiatus, and Rhyzopertha dominica. Each species possesses distinct traits, whether in the head, thorax, or abdomen. The species Tribolium castaneum was only located in the Kebun Semai market, whereas the population of Oryzaephilus surinamensis was predominantly discovered in the Perumnas market. The species Rhyzopertha dominica and Cryptolestes ferrigineus were predominantly found at the Sekip Ujung Market and Kebun Semai Market. In the Perumnas market, there are 22 specimens of S. oryzae and 18 specimens of O. surinamensis. In the Sekip Ujung market, there are 18 specimens of R. dominica and 19 specimens of S. oryzae. In the Kebun Semai market, there are 17 specimens of R. dominica, 13 specimens of T. castaneum, and 11 specimens of C. ferrugineus, respectively. The state of the warehouse's physical condition. The implementation of ceramic floors, net-covered open ventilation, roll-up doors, pallets, and a zinc roof helps mitigate insect populations in the storage warehouse, hence minimizing damage to commodities.

Rohmah, N. A. I., & Amalia, D. I. (2024). Utilization study and the role of local people to the medical plants conservation at Cintamanis Baru Village, Air Kumbang District, Banyuasin, South Sumatra. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang  21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 490–500).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Indonesia is known as a country with sources of medicinal raw materials from tropical plants that can treat various diseases. The use of plants as medicines has also been known and utilized since long ago by the community. However, the knowledge and sustainability of medicinal plants in Indonesia are potentially extinct along with the continued existence of life, increased environmental degradation, and utilization that has not been well documented. Farming traditions in rural communities play a key role in conserving medicinal plants and preserving knowledge for future generations. The study aims to identify the role of local communities in conserving medicinal plants based on their knowledge and use. The research was conducted in September 2024 in Cintamanis Baru Village, Air Kumbang Subdistrict, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, which includes 4 hamlets. The research method is qualitative descriptive. Data were obtained by direct observation and interviews based on structured questionnaires to 20 respondents. The results revealed 25 families of 43 medicinal plant species, primarily Zingiberaceae (12%) and herbaceous plants (46%), cultivated by the community to treat various diseases, with Javanese ethnicity being the most represented (75%), followed by Balinese and Sundanese. The level of knowledge and utilization is higher among women (80%) who are married (60%) and unmarried (25%). Local people's close relationship with medicinal plants comes from sources of knowledge obtained from parents (90%) and the internet (10%) with a duration of 10-25 years during their lifetime. The close relationship shows that local people have a very important role in the sustainability of medicinal plant conservation.
