Nabil, S. N., Pratiwi, S., Dewi, A. T. M., Fadhilah, M., Sitio, R. E., Silalahi, Y. A., & Hasmeda M. (2024). Evaluation of the hybridization results of black rice with inpara 5 varieties on waterlogged lands in South Sumatra. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang  21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 103–117). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Black rice had the disadvantages of high habitus, low productivity, and no soaking resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine the yield potential of black rice crosses with Inpara 5 varieties, especially on submerged land in South Sumatra. This field practice was carried out in South Sumatra Province. Field practice research on plant production was selected from the results of submerged stress tests, in testing plant growth and production the method used was Randomize Group Design (RDG). The results of research on submerged stress testing include the response of several black rice accessions to submerged stress, with measurements of parameters such as plant height, number of tillers, and chlorophyll levels before and after submersion for 14 days of submision. The results showed that plant height increased significantly from an average of 57.84 cm at 20 DAT (Days After Trasplatnting) to 83.93-96.00 cm at 49 DAT with accession I recording the highest height. The number of tillers decreased after submergence stress, with the highest average at 2.90 before submergence and the lowest at 1.29 at 49 DAT, while chlorophyll levels showed little change. In the final observation, accession H showed superior results in production parameters, such as number of panicles, total grain weight, and number of full grains, making it the most productive accession compared to others. In general, all accessions used in this study have the potential to be developed into new varieties of submergence-tolerant black rice. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that better plant breeding can be done on black rice that shows the best resistance to submergence stress.

Abstract

Lubis, W., Baharun, A., & Putra, W. P. B. (2024). Distribution of genotypes and allales of qualitative traits in cross chicken. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 434-445). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).This study aimed to determine the diversity of phenotypes and genotype distribution of crossbred chickens based on qualitative traits. The crossbred chickens used are crossbred Merawang chickens with other chickens. Merawang chickens are dual-purpose chickens that have great potential to be developed. The main problem with Merawang chickens is that the characteristics of Merawang chickens have not been registered. Efforts made to overcome this problem were by analyzing the genotype distribution of the qualitative traits of Merawang Cross chickens and PCA analysis of the chicken morphostructure. One way to analyze the genotype distribution can be done by calculating the genotype frequency, heterozygosity, and genetic ingression values. This study was conducted using a sample of 26 male and 44 female Merawang Cross chickens. From the entire population of Merawang Cross chickens, the genotype frequency values showed that the dominant phenotype in Merawang Cross chickens was recessive in feather color, feather features, feather shimmer, and comb shape. But it is dominant in shank color which has an allele frequency value of 100% white/yellow. The heterozygosity value shows a medium-value feather color pattern and other phenotypes are low (<30). So, the genotype distribution pattern in Merawang Cross chickens is more dominantly carried by European chickens, the high genetic integration value is found in Rhode Island Red (RIR) chickens reaching 100% in males and 87% in females. This shows that crossbred chickens or Merawang Cross chickens have dominant genes from Rhode Island Red (RIR) chickens.

Abstract

Halimi, E. S., Puteri, E. D., Adriansyah, F., & Atmi, E. M. (2024). Evaluation on growth production and selection of corn plants generation F1-F2 from the cross of pop-corn and purple-corn. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 335–343).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Pop-corn is one of the popular agricultural products as a snack ingredient. Most of the varieties are yellow, white, and not as a purple corn. The research objectives was to determine the growth, production of F1 maize plants and segregation, as well as to produce F2 generation seeds from the crossing of “Orange Featured”, “King Pop” and “Yellow Featured” variety. The research began with a cross between 3 pop-corn accessions as female elders and purple maize as male elders. In this research, the resulted for that cross were planted in a Randomized Block Design. Result of this research indicated that F1-plants generation were capable to grow and produce pop-corn and several cobs with purple F2-seeds for next research. Average plant height at 63-days reached 150.16-179.86 cm, with ear position at 79.93-95.36 cm. Male and female flower anthesis were at 45 and 54 days. The plant height of JPUU-II accession of 150.16 cm was the lowest as compare to others. Observation on production variables resulted these three accessions had about similar dry-weight, number of seed, and weight of 100-seeds, each 67.56-73.63 g/cob, 308-314 seeds/cob and 24.16- 25.63 g/100-seeds. The results of this research showed that F1 generation plants resulting from crossing 3 accessions with purple corn can grow and produce well. The variety “Yelllow seed” has the potential to be a higher-yielding purple corn. Purple color, especially leaf bone color, is used as a variable in the purple maize selection program, because it corresponds to the color of the seeds produced.

Abstract

Lakitan, B., & Muda, S. A. (2024). Layered cultivation of vegetable-fish in urban areas at the tropical climate zone. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 1–10).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The land area for agricultural cultivation is continuously declining due to conversion for various economic and social interests, so that limited spaces in urban areas also need to be managed for vegetable and fish cultivations. The purpose of this study is to increase the productivity of limited spaces in urban areas through layered cultivation of vegetables and fishes. Shallow concrete fish tanks (45 cm) are used for freshwater fish cultivation (catfish, tilapia, climbing perch) and on the water surface are placed rafts using recycled plastic bottles (1.5 liters) as a float for the cultivation of leafy vegetables with a short harvest cycle (< 3 months). The climbing frame is 2 meters high designed for the cultivation of climbing fruit vegetables (ridged gourd, bitter gourd, cucumber). The results of this study show that the three types of fish used can grow and develop in shallow fish tank where the catfish develop faster, on the other hand, the climbing perch grow much slower. The plant medium in the floating vegetable cultivation system is always moist so it does not need to be watered during its growth cycle. Small-leaved liana plants (bitter gourds) are better to use than broad-leaved ones (ridged gourd, cucumbers) because they reduce the intensity of sunlight that plants receive on the floating raft underneath. Based on results of the research that has been carried out, layered vegetable cultivation can be recommended to be applied by urban communities in utilizing the narrow space available.

Abstract

Fitri, S. N. A., Monica, A., Safitri, A, Putri, J., & Sitinjak, R. H. T. (2024). AB mix nutrient salution treatment for hydroponic pakchoy (Brassica rapa L) plants. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 156–163). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The demand for pakcoy vegetables among the public is increasing because people are starting to realize their nutritional needs, but in Indonesia the amount of agricultural land per capita is still relatively low. The purpose of this observation is to find out how many ml of AB Mix nutrition is appropriate for pakcoy (Brassica rapa L) plants. The observation method used a Randomized Block Design with each treatment repeated three times. The system used in this observation is a wick hydroponic system. In the first observation, the plants did not show too much change. In the second observation, plant height, number of leaves, and symptoms began to show changes because the plants had absorbed enough nutrients or absorbed excessive nutrients. In the third observation the plants experienced many changes, one of which was the 220 ml dose treatment, the plants died because they absorbed too many nutrients, and experienced toxicity.Different dose treatments will make plant height, and the number of leaves, increase or wilt, even die. The highest observed pakcoy plant height in 3 observations was 18 cm, the number of leaves observed in 3 observations was 11 leaves at most, while for symptoms, at a dose of 220 ml the most severe symptoms, namely experiencing toxicity due to excess nutrients absorbed by plants causing pakcoy plants to die.The best nutrition for pakcoy plants is 110 ml, giving the right dose will affect the development of these plants, such as plant height, number of leaves, or symptoms that appear when lacking or excess nutrients.
