MANAGERIA: Jurnal manajemen Pendidikan Islam is a peer-reviewed scientific periodical journal published by the Department of Islamic Education Management the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This journal is dedicated to publish scientific articles in the study of Islamic Education management from different aspects and perspectives. Abstract

The regulation of the Director General of Islamic Education No. 1429 year 2012 dated August 31, 2012 on the Arrangement of Study Program in Islamic Higher Education required the Department of Islamic Education (KI) to change its name to Islamic Education Management (MPI) Study Program which inevitably resulted in the adjustment of its graduates profile as well as its curriculum. As a consequence, this has raised some problems in terms of the implementation of the -commonly applied- professional training program. This is a qualitative research applying interviews, field notes, and documentation as its data collection methods. Sample in this research was determined by non-probability sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The result of the research shows the effectiveness of the professional training program-link and match- with the graduate profile of MPI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Training in the workplace (DDTK) on job Analysis is a policy that must be undertaken by government apparatus; either they are positioned in central or regional level. DDTK on Job Analysis is increasingly required especially after the performance benefits were being paid to the employees within the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The benefit necessitates employees to describe their work targets which will be used as the determinant for their position/level. DDTK on Job Analysis in the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Magelang Regency has given positive values for the employees towards the understanding of the Job Analysis considering that, before the training, there were lots of employees who did not comprehend the concept. This was evidenced by the result of the pre-test conducted in advance to the training. Organizing DDTK on Job Analysis has provided real contribution among the employees of the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Magelang Regency in terms of their understanding on Job Analysis as well as their improved competence in arranging the Job Analysis.

Abstract

This research discusses bureaucracy and organizational behaviour and culture in Islamic education institute i.e., Roudlotul Athfal UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This research aims to study the implementation of institutional bureaucracy and to build organisational behaviour and culture. This is a qualitative research applying three methods of data collection, namely: (1) observation, (2) in-depth interview, (3) emphasizing the value of dialogue ​​(small colloquium, discussion or sharing), (2) Integrating Islamic values ​​to build organizational behaviour such as honesty, discipline and mutual respect. (3) Cultural acculturation as part of the organizational cultural identity, such as maintaining the grassroots culture including how to behave, how to communicate in certain language and other social interactions. These aspects ​​turn into the basic values of institutional bureaucracy in facing various challenges, social changes as well as competition among numerous Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Change ability of a school is determined by the extent to which the school’s member have power in carrying and managing change. The changes may occur within the school environment or outside the school that influence the changes toward the school itself. The shifts that occur within the school may not necessarily alter the school thoroughly, but usually preceded by a process of cultural transformation. The success of school’s cultural shifts depends on the change management applied. Therefore, any changes that happen requires a change management so that the alteration at the school is the result of school’s community values and directed from the community itself, so the impact would lead to a positive change.

Abstract

Success in employee recruitment system is a starting point toward a well performing organization. To gain employees who are match with the task requirements of an organization, requires some procedures, such as: job identification, job analysis, recruitment sources, recruitment method, and candidate interview and selection, as well as job offer. Referring to Islamic conception on employee recruitment, this research found numbers of principles in recruitment, they are: (a). merit system, that means reward system is given based on quality of services performed, (b). Belief in God and having high moral commitment to reach organizational objective, (c). avoid nepotism practices or like and dislike, and all kinds of bribery in the administration and management.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the level of effectiveness of the management of Islamic education in the Department of Islamic Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The focus is on curriculum management component, infrastructure, governance, and public relations. This is a quantitative research using survey as its technique. The subject of this research are the chairman and the secretary of the Department of Islamic Education, 28 professors, administrative staff, and 270 students. The data is collected through observation, documentation, interviews and questionnaire. The data is analyzed using SPSS Program version 2.0. The results showed that in terms of management (1) the curriculum reached high level of effectiveness of 81,29%, (2) the infrastructures also leveled in high category of 80,08%, (3) governance leveled at good (74,13%), and (4) public relations reached high category of 76,88%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the roles and ways undertaken by schools in inculcating the character of entrepreneurial-based tauhid in order to be able to help learners gain knowledge about entrepreneurship from early childhood as well as help to build quality of Islamic School with high trust and quality. This research is a qualitative research conducted at Entrepreneur Elementary School Muslim ALIF-A Piyungan Bantul Yogyakarta. The data is collected using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study are: firstly, the role of schools in the formation of students’ entrepreneurial skills is demonstrated by activities in schools to acquire knowledge and skills by assisting learners in shaping character and personality, and be able to interact with their environments through integrated thematic learning. Learners have to be active, and are encouraged to recognize and accept the values of entrepreneurship in developing the ability of learners to perform daily activities. Secondly, in the formation of entrepreneurial character, the school has six basic principles, they are: educative, effective, strategic, empirical, leadership, and productive through three learning zones, namely spiritual zone, learning zone, and entrepreneur zone based on the character of each program. Thirdly, the results of the system can be seen from the students’ attitude of independent, tawakkal, creative, innovative, confident, discipline, have a sense of responsibility and tolerate others.

Abstract

This research aims to know the management of curriculum at an Islamic boarding school, that is madrasa based. This research focuses on the factors that restricting and supporting in developing the curriculum of pesantren, as well as on its problem solving. Using qualitative approach, this research gathered the data through interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the management of curriculum development designed by PP. Muntasyirul Ulum MAN 3 Sleman, Yogyakarta include planning, organizing, implementing and evaluation. Curriculum development strategies were carried out by carrying out these steps: 1) Bench marking, 2) scientific visit, 3) trial and error program, 4) establishment of curriculum commission, 5) review process, open criticism and suggestions, and 6) evaluation during the end of the semester.

Abstract

This model of education is developed from Carl Rogers’s indirect instruction in the process of learning Core Competence I (faith dimension) and Core Competence II (social dimension), channeled through school culture in sociology dimension using Looking Glass Self theory from Cooley and Three Self Elements theory from Freud. Research and Development method is employed to reveal: characteristic of faith and social dimensions in the students of State Islamic School (MAN) Wates 1in indirect instruction; which effective education model should be applied in the students’ faith and social character education. The measurement before and after treatment is conducted using observation and in-depth interview methods towards teachers and students with students’ faith and social characteristic measurement scale instrument. The analysis uses data reduction, data display, and verification. The result shows thatin a learning faith and social character educationportrait, teachers find it difficult to relate material and skill being taught with faith and social character education being ddeveloped. The in-class education model proposed includes inculcating, facilitating, modeling, and skill developing. The increase of character motivates teachers to improve their competence in buiding faith and social dimensions of the students.

Abstract

Similar to other graduates of the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teaching, those graduated from the Islamic Education Management study program are also educators, prophetic super-leader based on cognizance intelligence (ma’rifat)- which is an empirical form of the sense of God presence when the God Spot – an analysis by Zohar and Marshall- works. Prophetic super-leaders are professional managers encouraging learning motivation and organizing education in more civilized way within national framework. Whereas, the Islamic Education Management learning process is based on the Islamic Education Management Technique and built upon Islamic Education Management Science, that is derived from the Islamic Education Management Philosophy. Meanwhile, this philosophical aspect is rooted on the philosophy of Tarbiya which in fact is an applied Islamic philosophy. Therefore, the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teaching urgently needs to arrange Tarbiya philosophy as vision accomplishment of being “Excellent and Outstanding in Integrating and Developing Islamic Education and Science for Civilization” since the Tarbiya philosophy and its derivation are foundation of the mission implementation of “Developing Education Based on Islamic, Sciencetific, Tehcnological, Art, and Indonesian context.” Without such an independent theory, the practice of Islamic Education will only be a kind of follower instead of leader or superleader. At least, there shuld be an obvious statement that the adopted theory is not against the concept of Ma’rifah in Islam.
