Abstract

This study explores the repositioning of the Islamic Education Management (MPI) study program within the landscape of Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI), through a strategic review of national policies and curriculum responsiveness to labor market demands. This study aims to provide strategic recommendations for aligning MPI curricula and quality management practices with labor market needs in order to enhance graduate employability. Despite the MPI curriculum having been developed based on the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) and Learning Outcomes (CPL), tracer studies consistently show low graduate absorption in relevant managerial and educational roles. At the same time, DIKTIS policies, such as the PTKI Curriculum Guide and KMA No. 347/2022, provide normative directions for quality improvement but are hindered by structural and cultural barriers at the program level. This study employs a literature review and institutional policy analysis using official documents and empirical data from several PTKIN campuses. The findings indicate the need to shift from an administrative approach toward outcome-based quality management and intersectoral collaboration. Repositioning MPI requires adaptive curricula, strong engagement with industry, and a more strategic role for DIKTIS as a policy facilitator.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse and demonstrate the influence of entrepreneurial competence, religious culture, and pedagogical competence on graduate quality, as well as to describe an implementation model based on interview results. Employing a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, this study involved State Madrasah Aliyah teachers in eight cities/regencies of Banten Province, Indonesia. A sample of 349 teachers was selected through proportional stratified random sampling. The results indicate that the entrepreneurial competence of Madrasah Principals (X1), religious culture (X2), and pedagogical competence (X3) significantly and simultaneously influence graduate quality (Y), with a p-value of .000 (p < .05). The R-squared value of 0.844 suggests that 84.4% of the variance in graduate quality can be explained by these three independent variables. Among these, pedagogical competence (X3) exhibits the strongest and most significant influence on graduate quality, as indicated by its t-value. To optimize the influence of these variables, the study recommends a transformational leadership approach to foster synergy between entrepreneurial leadership, religious culture, and teacher pedagogy. This approach can facilitate the development of innovative programs and policies that create meaningful learning experiences, ultimately producing graduates who are not only academically proficient and spiritually grounded, but also possess strong character and relevant skills to meet societal needs.

Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of the principal of SMK Syubbanul Wathon in implementing transformative leadership within a pesantren based Vocational Excellence Center (SMK Pusat Keunggulan Berbasis Pesantren). Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research investigates how pesantren values such as ta’dzim, amanah, ijtihad, and ikhlas are internalized and practiced in leadership that harmonizes spiritual integrity and managerial effectiveness. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation, and analyzed thematically to reveal the essence of leadership transformation rooted in pesantren ethics. The findings show that the principal functions as both an institutional leader and a moral guide, translating Islamic values into organizational behavior that promotes participation, innovation, and reflective learning. Transformative leadership at SMK Syubbanul Wathon emerges as a moral and structural process where ethical consciousness directs institutional change. The study highlights how faith based morality interacts with professional demands in shaping educational transformation. It contributes to a broader understanding of Islamic educational leadership by integrating spirituality and transformative leadership theory, positioning pesantren based leadership as a model for sustainable, value driven school management in vocational education reform.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship and combined influence of digital literacy and learning motivation on the academic performance of Islamic Education Management (MPI) students in two until six semesters during the Society 5.0 era. Using a quantitative correlational and multiple regression design, 98 students were selected as samples. Instruments included a digital literacy questionnaire covering eight dimensions of competence and a learning motivation questionnaire adapted from the MSLQ. Learning outcomes were measured by students’ Grade Point Average (GPA). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings reveal that (1) digital literacy has a positive and significant relationship with learning outcomes; (2) learning motivation also positively and significantly correlates with learning outcomes; and (3) both variables jointly exert a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes. The R-square value indicates that digital literacy and motivation together make a substantial contribution in explaining variations in academic achievement. The study concludes that synergy between digital competence and strong learning motivation is crucial in digital-based education to enhance MPI students’ performance. Practically, it underscores the need for integrated programs that strengthen digital literacy and foster intrinsic motivation among students.

Abstract

The implementation of Human Resources (HR) orientation in Islamic education institutions has a considerable role in realizing professional human resources, which in turn has a major impact on the progress and development of institutions. This study aims to provide an overview of the implementation of new HR orientation activities in superior Islamic educational institutions. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. This research was conducted at Al Azhaar Tulungagung Islamic Elementary School. The results of this study indicate: (1) orientation activities for new HR to create professional HR in the form of internships for 3 (three) months, (2) orientation activities at Al Azhaar can provide mental-psychological and technical readiness for new HR, both educators and education staff, (3) orientation activities at Al Azhaar can be said to be effective because they are based on the right understanding, goals, principles, steps, and materials to create professional human resources. Islamic educational institutions should institutionalize structured, internship-based orientation programs for new personnel as a mandatory component of talent management, complemented by clear performance indicators and post-orientation follow-up mechanisms to ensure sustained staff professionalism and overall institutional performance.

Abstract

The integration of Islamic values and modern management theories in educational management represents a strategic response to the challenges of contemporary education. Islamic values such as trust (amanah), honesty, justice, responsibility, and deliberation provide strong ethical foundations that can synergize with modern management principles, including efficiency, effectiveness, transformational leadership, Total Quality Management (TQM), and data-driven decision-making. This integration enables the development of an educational management system that not only emphasizes academic excellence, but also prioritizes character formation, moral integrity, and spiritual development. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research, using content analysis of relevant academic literature, scientific journals, books, and policy documents related to Islamic education management and modern management theory. The analysis focuses on synthesizing key management concepts such as POAC (Planning, Organizing, Mobilizing, and Controlling) with core Islamic values to construct a holistic and value-based management framework. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic values with modern management theories can strengthen institutional governance, enhance leadership effectiveness, and support sustainable quality improvement in educational institutions. This conceptual study contributes to the development of an integrative educational management perspective that balances spirituality, ethics, and modern organizational effectiveness, while providing a theoretical foundation for future empirical research in Islamic education management.

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of implementing the Decentralization of education in Indonesia, which is often hampered by the lack of attention from regional heads to education. This study aims to analyze the impact of the decentralization of education on the quality of education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and to understand the challenges its implementation faces. The method used was a systematic literature review, which collected data from 20 relevant articles from 2020 to 2024, taken from the Google Scholar database. The study results show that the Decentralization of education provides autonomy to local governments and schools to manage education according to local needs. However, there is still a disparity in the quality of education between regions due to differences in budget and infrastructure. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of political commitment from regional heads, capacity building of human resources, and collaboration between central and regional governments to achieve the goal of more equitable and quality education. The study also recommends stricter supervision and community participation in educational decision-making to reduce inequalities.
