Abstract

This study aims to identify misconceptions about colligative properties, especially freezing point depression and boiling point elevation, which occur in chemistry education students. The research was conducted by distributing an online survey, which contained open-ended essay questions, to several chemistry education classes at 3 state universities on the island of Java. The answers were then analyzed, and the results identified 12 misconceptions among the participants. This finding shows the need for a change in the way colligative material is delivered at the tertiary level.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to analyze and explain the misconceptions experienced by class X students on the electrolyte material. The research subjects were 29 students of class X IPA 2 at SMAN 1 Pangkalpinang. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing a written test in the form of a two-tier diagnostic test consisting of 30 multiple choice questions. The data that has been processed shows that there are misconceptions in class X students in the electrolyte material. The results of this study indicate that the misconceptions that occur in level 1 questions (recognizing material categories) are 38.79%; level 2 (understanding particle interactions) by 35.635%; and level 3 (explaining the problem quantitatively) of 55.662%.

Abstract

Problem solving is a process used to solve problems. The problem solving process involves metacognitive activities for someone who can explore metacognitive thinking skills, especially in regulating and controlling cognitive activities. Learning in chemistry education leads students to explore metacognitive thinking skills through problem solving. One of the materials that is the problem is chemical equilibrium. Solving chemical equilibrium problems requires good metacognitive skills. This study aims to describe the metacognitive skills of chemistry education students in solving chemical equilibrium problems. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research data were descriptive texts of students' metacognitive skills in problem solving which were collected through problem solving tests and interviews. The test results obtained were analyzed qualitatively. Metacognitive skills data analysis techniques from the interview results using the analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The research subjects were 32 students of Education Chemistry Study Program, Education and Teacher Training Faculty, Jambi University. The results showed that 4 students did problem solving by just experimenting, so that the tests that were carried out were not quite right. The results of the interview stated that the students did not understand the problems in the questions. 14 students had difficulties and were confused about problem solving solutions but their understanding of the problems was quite good. The results of the interview stated that the students were aware of their weaknesses. 7 students were able to solve problems and check problem solving. The results of the interview stated that the students realized that there was a mistake in solving the problem given, but the students were hesitant to correct the error. 7 students demonstrated near-perfect overall problem solving skills and rechecking their work. The results of the interview stated that the students were aware of their abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendesain video pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada materi asam dan basa yang valid dan praktis sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran dimasa pandemic. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan Research and Development (R&D) dengan menggunakan model Borg and Gall. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 1 orang dosen ahli media, 1 orang guru ahli materi, 1 orang guru kimia dan 10 siswa kelas XI IPA PI SMA IT Al-Ittihad. Adapun objek penelitian adalah video pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Jenis data yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket uji validitas dan angket uji praktikalitas. Kelayakan video pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) didasarkan pada a) Validator ahli materi mencapai persentase sebesar 86,8% dengan kategori sangat valid, validator ahli desain media mencapai persentase 84% dengan kategori sangat valid. b) Tanggapan penilaian guru kimia melalui uji praktikalitas memperoleh persentase sebesar 92,6% dengan kategori sangat praktis. c) Respon peserta didik kelas XI di SMA IT Al-Ittihad terhadap keseluruhan desain video pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) mendapatkan persentase 81,4% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Dari hasil tersebut mengidentifikasikan bahwa video pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran dimasa pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the lack of media that can facilitate teachers in delivering subject matter, media that can be used repeatedly even outside of class hours. The purpose of this research is to design an ICARE-oriented learning video on acid-base material with the help of adobe after effects software that is valid based on the validity of material experts, media experts, practicality tests for teachers and students. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall development model which includes the stages (1) research and information gathering, (2) planning, (3) developing the initial form of the product, (4) practicality testing and student responses, (5) product revision. The initial field test was carried out at MAN 1 Pekanbaru on students of class XI MIPA 1. The results of the validation of media experts and material experts obtained a score of 86.25% with very valid criteria. The teacher practicality test got a result of 95.83% in the very practical category, and the student practicality test got a result of 85.93% in the very practical category.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran dan menanggapi minat pengguna Web Google Sites materi sifat koligatif larutan. Menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi dan evaluasi). Subjek penelitian yaitu lima peserta didik kelas Xll IPA pedoman angket dan wawancara berfungsi sebagai pengambilan data, menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mengembangkan media Web Google Sites sampai pada tahap pengembangan. Media pembelajaran ini terdiri dari halaman utama, halaman KI-KD-IPK, halaman materi, halaman latihan soal, halaman games, halaman video pembelajaran, halaman evaluasi, halaman daftar isi, dan halaman about us. Dari hasil validasi yang didapat bahwa media ini mendapat kriteria “layak” dengan skor 83% dari ahli materi serta mendapat kriteria “sangat menarik” dengan skor 87% dari lima peserta didik. Dengan demikian media pembelajaran berbasis Web Google Sites dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of this development research is to produce wood and pulp chemistry teaching materials on tree sub-materials that meet valid criteria. The procedure for developing teaching materials follows the stages in the 4STMD (four-step teaching material development) , starting from the selection stage to the characterization stage. Data collection techniques carried out in this development research were interviews, questionnaires, and walkthroughs. The data analysis technique in this development research uses Aiken's Validity formula to calculate the validity of the material. The results of this study are wood and pulp chemistry teaching materials in the tree sub-material as a supplement to teaching materials for students of the Chemical Education Study Program, Sriwijaya University which has a validity level in the material aspect of 0.86 which is included in the high category. Validity results are obtained by referring to Aiken's validity criteria. The results of the research conducted showed that the development of wood and pulp chemicals in tree sub-materials as a supplement to teaching materials met the valid criteria.

Abstract

This purpose of this study is to (1) produce web-based interactive E-modules with a scientific approach to chemical bonding materials;(2) knowing the feasibility and effectiveness of web-based interactive E-modules with a scientific approach to chemical bonding materials. The subjects were 24 students of class X MIPA 2 at MAN 1 Trenggalek.. The method used in this study is a development research with a 4D development model from Thiagarajan which stages are define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, this study was limited to the third stage due to time and energy constraints. Validation is carried out by 1 chemistry lecturer and 1 chemistry teacher. The results of this study (1) E-module developed with 3 stages including define, design, and develop using canva software. This E-module uses the 5M of scientific approach syntax. (2) Eligibility of the E-Modules obtains of percentage of 80% in the appropriate category from material experts and 95.65% in the very feasible category from media experts. While the effectiveness of E-Modules obtained a percentage of 83.3% with a very effective category. Based on the results of expert validation tests and effectiveness tests, this E-module is declared feasible and effective to be used as a learning medium for students.

Abstract

Research has been conducted using the Group Investigation model of mole concept material. The aim of this study used to enhance critical thinking and decision making about the concept material of the mole. The subjects of the study were 32 high school students at Muhammadiyah 2 Banjarmasin in X grade Mathematics and Natural Sciences School Year 2018/2019. Research using test and non-test instruments. Research that resulted in increased aspects of the attitude of students increased from the good enough category with a score of 8.14 to a good category with a score of 11.52, the skills of students increased from the category of quite skilled with a score of 8.15 being skilled with a score of 10.82, critical thinking learners from the indicators (1) examine the questions (2) decide on actions (3) weigh the researcher's report and induce a quite critical category with an average score of 54.28 increasing to 62.76 and categorized as critical, and learning outcomes aspects of students' knowledge from completeness 65.73% to 75.94, as well as students' decision making from indicators 1) predicting risk 2) identifying choices 3) analyzing information 4) determining choices increasing from category quite well with an average score of 39.71 becoming 51, 17 and categorized as good

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan belajar siswa dalam memahami materi kimia koloid berdasarkan indikator. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMA Kota Gorontalo dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, Poplasinya adalah seluruh kelas XI. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 60 siswa yang diambil dari kelas XI tersebut. Instrument yang digunakan adalah instrument tes diagnostik Three-tier multiple choice dengan 15 butir soal. Hasil uji coba instrument diperoleh validitas isi sebesar 97,7%. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa (1) Kesulitan Belajar siswa pada materi koloid tergolong tinggi dan terletak disemua indikator pada materi koloid; (2) Kesulitan tertinggi terletak pada menganalisis pembuatan koloid degan persentase kesulitan belajar sebesar 79,15% dan dikategorikn tinggi. Fakta ini menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan belajar siswa pada materi koloid tergolong tinggi.
