Abstract

The question instrument on the reaction rate material contains two competencies, namely understanding concepts and counting to help students who can increase the enthusiasm of students' learning activities. The method used in this study refers to the 4D development model proposed by Thiagarajan (1974). The 4D development model has 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. In this study, it was shown that the question instrument developed had a good interpretation so that it was able to make students understand more about the concept of material on the rate of reaction.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Google Classroom-assisted blended learning model on student learning outcomes on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. The research was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang in class X MIPA. The research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. Students in the experimental class used a blended learning model assisted by google classroom, while students in the control class used a conventional learning model. Based on the results of data analysis, there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class and the control class as seen from the Mann Whitney test value, the significance value obtained is 0.000 (p <0.05), it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the application of the model. blended learning learning assisted by google classroom on student learning outcomes on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions.

Abstract

There were many factors causing problems encountered in the learning process, one of them was the learning instrument used and created by the teacher. Learning instrument can be as test items. This research aimed at knowing the quality of test items of final examination of the second semester on Chemistry subject of XI Natural Science at State Senior High School 6 Pekanbaru in the Academic Year of 2015/2016 in terms of qualitative and quantitative aspects. Sample of this research was all student answer sheets of XI Natural Science (XI Natural Science 1 to 6) comprised 192 students. Test items of final examination of the second semester comprised 30 multiple choice questions. Research findings showed inappropriate test items in term of qualitative aspect, there were 8 (26.7%) test items in term of material, 12 (40%) test items in term of construction, and 23 (76.6%) test items in term of language. Whereas in the quantitative aspect, 3 (10%) test items were not valid. High reliability test items were 0.72. In term of discriminator, there were 3 (10%) test items were on bad category, 11 (36.7%) test items were on medium category, and 16 (53.3%) test items were on good category. In term of difficulty level, there were 2 (6.9%) test items were on difficult category, 22 (72.4%) test items were on medium category, and 6 (23%) test items were on easy category. 27 (23%) options of distractors were not working. It could be concluded that the percentage of inappropriate test items in qualitative aspect was 47.7% meaning that the quality of test items was enough. In quantitative aspect validity, reliability, and discriminator were on good criteria, whereas difficulty level and distractor were on enough criterion.

Abstract

The main objectives of this study are (1) to determine the validity of the learning video media for electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. (2) Knowing the response of students about learning videos on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials. (3) Knowing the learning outcomes of students who use learning videos on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. (4) Knowing the relationship of students' responses to learning video media on student learning outcomes after using learning videos on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials. (5) Knowing the effect of student responses on learning video media on student learning outcomes after using learning videos on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that (1) The validation of the learning video media is declared valid with a validity value of 92.5. (2) The responses of class X IPA students at SMA Geangkat Lewo Boru for the Academic Year 2020/2021 are included in the very good category with an average percentage of 83%. (3) The learning outcomes of class X IPA students at SMA Geangkat Lewo Boru for the Academic Year 2020/2021 were declared complete with an average score of 85. (4) There was a significant relationship between responses and student learning outcomes. students of class X science at Geangkat Lewo Boru High School for the 2020/2021 academic year with a correlation coefficient of 0.55 (5) There is a significant effect between the response and learning outcomes of students in class X science at Gelekat Lewo Boru School Year 2020/2021 with a simple regression equation of Y = 57.64 + 0.33x.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the relationship between study habits during thepandemic COVID-19and the chemistry learning achievement of class X State Senior High School students in West Kutai Regency. The population used was all X grade students from three public high schools in West Kutai Regency consisting of SMAN 1 Linggang Bigung, SMAN 1 Long Iram and SMAN 2 Sendawar with non- probability sampling using purposive sampling method and obtained a sample of 129 students. The instrument used was a study habit questionnaire. This type of research isresearch ex past facto. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, namely simple linear regression analysis with a significance level of 5%. Based on the results of descriptive data analysis, it was obtained that students' study habits were in the medium category with a percentage of 35.66% and student achievement variables were in the medium category with a percentage of 31.78%. From the results of inferential analysis using simple linear regression, the t-test obtained a significance of 0.583 > 0.05, indicating that there is no relationship between study habits and academic achievement in class X State Senior High School Students in West Kutai Regency. Abstract

Chemistry learning that is taught today tends to only present concepts and formulas, as well as little practice so that students are less able to use the concepts that have been taught if they encounter problems in everyday life. The misconceptions that occur in the salt hydrolysis material are also assessed because there is no implementation of chemicals in everyday life. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine which teaching materials based on coastal local wisdom are suitable for use in salt hydrolysis materials. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects in this study were prospective chemistry teachers. Based on the research conducted, it is obtained that the analysis results that the need for teaching materials that are in accordance with the characteristics of the respondents in the form of modules that can be used for independent study, the implementation of chemistry learning in everyday life can be done with an approach based on local wisdom (ethnoscience) by utilizing the local potential of coastal areas. and the local potential of the area that can be used as a source of learning material for salt hydrolysis is local salt. With this research, it is hoped that it can be used as a reference for further research by finding other more effective coastal local wisdom-based teaching materials.

Abstract

The implementation of discussion in learning activities based on problem in schools could improve students' critical thinking skills. However, in its implementation, there were still several problems, one of them was the lack of students' ability in solving the problems. So, there needs to be a learning model that could create the learning based on problem. This research aimed at knowing 1) difference of students' critical thinking abilities, 2) the effectiveness of learning using POGIL model based on SSI students' critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in the even semester of 2021/2022 Academic Year at X MIPA grade of Senior High School Taruna Mandiri Pekanbaru on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions materials. It was an experimental research with pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design. T-test (knowing difference of students' critical thinking abilities) and N-gain test (knowing the level of effectiveness) were used for analyzing the data. The results of this research showed that 1) there was a difference of students' critical thinking skills between the experiment and control groups, the posttest average scores of critical thinking skills in the experiment group was 82.00 and the control group was 75.21, the result of t-test obtained that a significance value was 0.002 < 0.05, so that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. 2) Learning using the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) model was effective on students' critical thinking skills. The N-gain value of the experimental group from each student: there were 28 students in the high N-gain category (93.33%) and 2 students in the medium N-gain category (6.67%) who were into the effective category. The conclusion was learning using the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) model was effective on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital magazine based on contextual learning on the nature of chemistry. The research was conducted based on the importance of developing teaching materials that have criteria for attracting students' interest in the learning process. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using a 4D development flow modified to 3D. Eligibility criteria are known based on the results of validation tests and student response tests. The validation test was carried out by 4 validators, namely 2 material expert validators and 2 media expert validators to determine the level of validity of digital magazines. Furthermore, after the digital magazine was declared valid, a response test was carried out with 20 students of class X MA Bustanul Muta'allimin Blitar City to find out the student's response to the digital magazine. The results of the validation test of material experts and media experts received very valid criteria with consecutive average percentage values of 89.49% and 88.15%. The results of the response test of 20 students of class X MA Bustanul Muta'allimin Blitar City received very good criteria with an average percentage score of 84.47%.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand the integration and implication of dilemmas stories approach in learning the buffer solution using the think pair square (TPSq) method related to students‟ soft skills. The subject of this study is XI MIA 5 Senior High School 2 Tangerang, of forty students. This study is conducted from January 2015 until July 2015. This study used interterpretivism paradigm approach using the qualitative method. The focused of this study is the learning process and implication using dilemmas stories in learning the buffer solution using the think pair square (TPSq) method. This study consists two steps: preparation step and execution step. The sources of the data are the interviews with the students, the students reflective journals, and class observation supported by CCVLES questionnaire consisting seven indicators. The data collecting procedure refers to the seven indicators: emotion towards the story, plot, teacher support, teamwork, communication empathy, critical thinking, and contextual chemistry. Quality standards used in this study are credibility by using prolonged engagement, progressive subjectivity, dan member checking. Based on this study, it is found that the students are interested and motivated to learn chemistry through stories. They also learn to work in team, learn to appreciate other‟s opinions, and learn to solve problems in chemistry by thinking critically. Confidence, responsibility, curiosity, and creativity can be seen through the posters and videos created by the students in the final step of the learning. Dilemmas Stories can be used as an alternative in learning the buffer solution.

Abstract

Teaching materials that can be used for self-study by students, stimulate students' thinking skills by associating chemical concepts with approaches to science, environment, technology, and society as well as containing the integration of Islamic values are needed so that students get a complete concept andit is hoped that students can apply the concept to the real situations. This research aims to develop e-module based Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) which is integrated with Islamic values in colloidal system material. This researchand development use 7 stages of the RnD model from Sugiyono, namely potential problems, information gathering, product design, design validation, design revision, product manufacture, and limited product trials. The research instruments were needs analysis questionnaires, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. E-module that was developed was validated by three validators to measure its validity in terms of material, media, and the integration of Islamic values. Product revisions were carried out according to the suggestions of the validators, then limited tests to find out student responses to the e-module being developed. The results of the validation of material experts, media, and integration of Islamic values successively obtained an average percentage of 96.0%, 95.1%, and 85.0% with very valid categories. The results of student responses obtained an average percentage of 83.6% in the very good category.
