Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the idea of forming flexible and adaptive architecture for various scenarios through the perspective of everyday architectural knowledge. The background of this study is based on the issue and phenomenon of the development of housing to be more varied than just a living space, but also various other additional functions during a pandemic. Multiple activities outside the home are now part of the domestic activities themselves. A study of a residential building design illustrates how every day operations reflect the adaptability and flexibility of domestic space. The exploration and analysis of the study object are presented through the redrawing of the space configuration along with the trajectory of daily activities. The connection between space, time, and users is described as a daily practice that has the potential to develop future design methods. The findings of this qualitative study are to see how the process of forming adaptive and flexible architecture. Domestic architecture can show the dynamics of space rather than just the static configuration visible. The findings of this study include at least three aspects, making the everyday space, using the everyday, and the configuration that is the extra ordinary. Reflections from this study show the expansion of architectural design practices that need to pay attention to the ability of space to be adaptive and flexible based on dynamic everyday life. Abstract

Numeracy is one of the most crucial literacy skills to develop at a young age. These skills are taught in the classroom through mathematics. According to several studies from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), students' mathematical abilities in Indonesia remain low when compared to other literacy skills. This subject is often perceived as challenging and tedious. Furthermore, the concept of teaching numeracy skills cannot be approached abstractly initially, especially for children who require tangible objects for manipulation. The research employed a design thinking approach, encompassing diverse methodssuch as observation, interviews, questionnaires, literature review, direct observations involving children, and problem analysis. This project aims to create educational media infused with gamification elements such as points, badges, levels, and leaderboards. The final product of this design project is an educational toy named “LIGI” seamlessly integrated with a mobile app, referred to as "mixed reality." The product's dif iculty level can be tailored based on the abilities of each individual child. Moreover, in-game navigation employs the perceptual user interface (PUI), involving device movements and spoken commands to provide an interactive experience. This study ef ectively demonstrates the application of gamification elements in the development of mixed reality educational games, aimed at helping children understand and practice numeracy skills in a more interactive and innovative manner, following the design thinking framework stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and testing. The study provides valuable guidance for product designers interested in creating impactful mixed reality educational games by integrating gamification principles. The authors stress the importance of integrating gamification elements during the ideate stage and conducting timely testing with children to comprehend their preferences and enjoyment. Abstract

The library is a public facility that has a very positive impact on the wider community. However, the rapid development of technology and information has resulted in many conventional libraries being abandoned by current library users, namely generation Z. The systems used in conventional libraries can no longer meet the needs of generation Z who want to do things independently by getting fast, easy and efficient results. Thus, the design of a self-service library based on smart architecture is a solution to solve this problem. With the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, Internet of Things (IoT), and Building Automation System (BAS) systems in designing self-service libraries, a library building can be referred to as a smart library. The design of this smart library aims to increase efficiency and flow automation in the library so that it can meet the needs of generation Z and can be used properly by other library visitors. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method by comparing case studies in 3 buildings to analyze the novelty elements that the researcher wants to get. So that this research can provide recommendations on the organization of library building spaces with automation flow to increase efficiency.
