Abstract

The present study aims to find out the types of illocutionary act in Nadhira Afifa’s speech as a student’s speaker as Master of Public Health in Harvard Graduation 2020. The types of illocutionary which was promoted by Yule (1996) focused in this study. The study used qualitative descriptive by analyzing Nadhira’s speech as the main data. Furthermore, the sources of the data in this study was collected by downloading the video of speech from YouTube. Then, the data are analyzed and transcribed into the written form. Furthermore, the data were grouped into five types of illocutionary speech acts. The finding revealed that there are four typed of illocutionary speech acts which are used in Nadhira's speech. They were representative, expressive, directive and commissive. In this term, one of illocutionary acts type which is declarative did not find in the speech. Apparently, the preferable type of illocutionary speech act was representative. In this term, Nadhira delivered the information related to the importance of being part of public health during this day that she concerned about. Meanwhile, the percentage revealed the most and the least used of types of illocutionary speech acts by Nadhira's speech. They were representative (56.4%), expressive (30.7%), directive (5.1%), commissive (7.7%) and declarative (0%). It means that representative and expressive are being preferable. It is occurred because the context and the speaker who has the speech is a student’s speaker in graduation day. Keywords: illocutionary acts, speech act, speech, analysis Abstrak Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis ilokusi dalam Pidato Nadhira Afifa sebagai pembicara mahasiswa Magister Kesehatan Masyarakat di Harvard Graduation 2020. Jenis Jenis ilokusi yang dipromosikan oleh Yule (1996) difokuskan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pidato Nadhira sebagai data utama. Selanjutnya sumber data dalam penelitian ini diunduh dari YouTube. Data tersebut dianalisa, ditranskripsikan ke dalam bentuk tertulis dan dikelompokkan menjadi lima jenis tidan tutur ilokusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis tindak ilokusi yang digunakan dalam pidato Nadhira yaitu representatif, ekspresif, direktif dan komisif. Dalam hal ini, deklaratif tidak ditemukan dalam pidato tersebut. Representatif menjadi tindak tutur yang lebih disukai dalam pidato ini. Nadhira menyampaikan informasi terkait pentingnya menjadi bagian dari kesehatan masyarakat. Sementara itu, persentasi dalam tindak ilokusi ditunjukkan dengan representatif (56,4%), ekspresif (30,7%), direktif (5,1 %), komisif (7,7%) dan deklaratif (0%). Ini artinya representatif dan espresif lebih disukai. Hal ini terjadi karena konteks dan penuturnya adalah sebagai pembicara mahasiswa pada hari wisuda. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for children's fairy tales containing local wisdom based on macromedia flash for elementary school students. This type of research is qualitative research. This study intends to reveal the needs analysis for children's fairy tales containing local wisdom based on macromedia flash for students at SD Taman Muda IP Yogyakarta. The research subjects were fourth grade students. This research data collection technique using participant observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis in this study used an interactive model of data analysis. The analysis consists of three activity lines, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion / verification. From the results of the needs analysis at SD Taman Muda IP Yogyakarta, it was found that this study began with a needs analysis by identifying the basic competencies contained in thematic learning Indonesian content. In the Indonesian language content, material about fairy tales is found in theme 4 Sharing Work, namely KD 3.5 Describing personal opinions about the contents of literary books (stories, fairy tales, and so on). KD 4.5 Communicating personal opinions about the contents of selected and read literary books orally and in writing supported by reasons. From the basic competency analysis of some of the learning content, researchers can develop innovative media, namely children's fairy tales containing local wisdom based on Macromedia Flash.

Abstract

Slang uses referred to modernity, language assimilation, and language variety in social discourses; that underlined the background to the reason of young generation to assimilate and modification, as a tool for communicating also socialization. Importantly, slang even the outer level of young ages, will interpret as negative meanings, but they going to acquire in variety moment. In further slang became the symbol of freedom of speech, a group of human class entity, and modern life. All perspective above, that grounded and interrelated to slang uses, was implicating to the use of Anjay word [as the representative or reflection of the various slang in Indonesia]. A word such Anjay, transported from negative meanings which rooting of [dog-word; in Bahasa Indonesia as Anjing] became one of popular slang that expressed of enthusiasm, adore, joke, love, and friendship to one object. The method which is used in this research is descriptive qualitative research; there was literature study that compiled of journal-thesis-and bachelor paper. Result showed that slang in general studies, were of several types. And the result is perspective of anjay for senior high school student. Anjay word can be used 83% and cannot be used 17%. They do not mind the use of Anjay for their communication with the purpose of joke or responding something funny.

Abstract

Literary work always presents variety of problem from the characters as roles in life that create the movement of a story, either male or female. This study focuses on the role of women who struggling to their lives so the readers can get different meanings and perspectives from female characters who are not victims of discrimination but as motivators to create their existence. The object of this research is a novel entitled Merry Riana: A Million Dollar Dream by Alberthiene Endah. This research employs qualitative method namely content analysis. The procedure in this research are intensive reading, identification, analysis, presentation, and conclusion. The focus of research on existentialist feminism are (1) women can work; (2) women can become intellectuals; (3) women can achieve socialist transformation; and (4) women can reject their motherhood nature. The result of this research is that the figure of a woman has the right to do or fight for something that is equal to men. The impact of the realization of ideals is to have a better life and give positive behavior. Keywords: woman, novel, existensialist feminism

Abstract

The main problem in this article is the low awareness of students' critical thinking when writing various academic activities. One of the reasons for this condition is that learning to write academic forms has not used the right approach or model. The purpose of writing this article is to describe the application of Critical Thinking in student academic writing. This research was written using literature study and direct observation of the academic writing lecture process, namely writing scientific papers. The results of the observation show that in a class that does not use the Critical Thinking approach, it shows that during the academic writing lecture process, students have not developed the concept of critical thinking properly so that their written work has not produced critical and innovative products. However, in classes that apply the Critical Thinking Approach, lectures have been running effectively and the students' written work is in accordance with the assessment criteria. This increase and effectiveness is because students carry out the stages of analysis, evaluation, reconstruction, and creativity during writing lectures.

Abstract

The role of technology media as a stimulant in the industrial era 4.0 has developed rapidly and varied to affect various aspects of life in all circles, including early childhood. One affected aspect of life is language. The influence on the linguistic aspect is felt by children, especially at an early age. This study aims to determine how the influence of digital media broadcasts on Carrie TV’s YouTube channel on language development and acquisition in early childhood. This research utilized the observation method by observing language attitudes in early childhood and recording speech in communication activities. The observation technique was carried out by recording the distribution of words uttered by early childhood. Moreover, a comparison of the spoken vocabulary was made between the children who watched the Carrie TV channel and those who did not watch it. The word distribution recorded was adjusted to the children’s vocabulary skills in general based on their language development stage. The results revealed that childhood who watched the Carrie TV channel possessed more vocabulary than those who did not watch it. The children’s vocabulary could be categorized into basic words, conjunctions, affix words, and word combinations.

Abstract

Language is something important that we always use in our daily life. Language is increasingly developing along with the progress of the times, as well as in Indonesian which is increasingly advanced and developing. In the process of teaching and learning activities in the classroom, of course, they must refer to and be guided by the applicable curriculum. However, this seems to be something that feels heavy for educators because it requires a qualified understanding and ability to apply it. Learning methods and media are strategic combat tools for teachers in implementing the teaching and learning process. Learning methods tend to be prescriptive, which is relatively difficult to distinguish from learning strategies. Students are asked to be more sensitive to events or phenomena that occur in the surrounding environment, then make the learning material. One of the basic competencies that grade V students must achieve is being able to respond to an event or phenomenon. In order to understand more quickly, teachers can guide students by providing renewable themes, for example about the pandemic currently hitting the world, namely Coronavirus or COVID-19. Keywords: environmental approach, responding to problems, the COVID-19 pandemic Abstrak Bahasa adalah sesuatu hal yang penting yang selalu kita gunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Bahasa semakin berkembang seiring dengan laju kemajuan zaman, begitupun dalam bahasa Indonesia yang kian maju dan berkembang. Dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas tentunya harus mengacu dan berpedoman kepada kurikulum yang berlaku. Namun, hal ini sepertinya menjadi suatu hal yang terasa berat bagi para pendidik karena hal itu memerlukan pemahaman dan kemampuan yang mumpuni untuk menerapkannya. Metode dan media pembelajaran adalah alat tempur dalam berstrategi bagi pengajar dalam pelaksaan proses belajar-mengajar. Metode pembelajaran cenderung preskriptif, yang relatif sulit dibedakan dengan strategi pembelajaran. Siswa diminta lebih peka terhadap peristiwa atau fenomena yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitarnya, lalu menjadikan bahan pelajarannya. Salah satu kompetensi dasar yang harus dicapai siswa kelas V adalah mampu menanggapi suatu peristiwa atau fenomena. Agar lebih cepat memahami, guru bisa membimbing siswa dengan memberikan tema yang terbarukan, misalnya tentang pandemi yang sedang melanda dunia, yaitu Coronavirus atau COVID-19. Abstract

Clutter in thinking is the basis for innovation and creation. Coherent thinking can be realized if one's knowledge base is properly constructed and harmonious. To hone this, universities exist through their demands of students by requiring scientific writing products to be graduated. The problem is, do students have a tendency to think coherently in writing scientific papers? To find out, this study comes with the aim of exploring and describing the synthesis ability and thinking patterns of Jambi University students from the introduction of the approved thesis proposal. Synthesis and thinking patterns are considered two aspects that support systematic thinking in the activity of creating new knowledge. That way, this research is qualitative descriptive with snow ball sampling. Then, it was analyzed by referring to the model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed 1) 27.9% (the highest number) of paragraphs contained one reference, 2) 70% found the essence of each argument that supports the main idea, 3) on average, arguments were found in the form of examples, illustrations or supporting data, 4) 75% of students functioned the counter arguments, 5) on average the students had explained and confirmed their position in research, 6) there were 16 transitional words between sentences and 1 transition word between sentences that were used, and 7) Students showed a tendency to use deductive thinking patterns (causality, for example , enumeration, process, and contrast) in deciphering the arguments. Keywords: scientific writing, synthesis skills, thinking patterns Abstrak Keruntutan dalam berpikir menjadi dasar munculnya inovasi dan kreasi. Berpikir secara runtut dapat diwujudkan bila basis pengetahuan seseorang terkonstruksi dengan tepat juga harmonis. Untuk mengasah hal itu, perguruan tinggi hadir melalui tuntutannya kepada mahasaiswa dengan mempersyaratkan produk karya tulis ilmiah sebagai kelulusan. Persoalannya, apakah mahasiswa telah memiliki kecenderungan berpikir runtut dalam menulis karya ilmiah? Untuk mengetahuinya, penelitian ini hadir dengan tujuan mengeksplorasi dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan sintesis dan pola berpikir mahasiswa Universitas Jambi dari bagian pendahuluan proposal skripsi yang telah disetujui. Sintesis dan pola berpikir dianggap dua aspek penyokong kesistematisan berpikir dalam aktivitas penciptaan pengetahuan baru. Dengan begitu, penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengambilan data secara snow ball sampling. Kemudian, dianalisis dengan merujuk model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 1) 27,9 % (jumlah terbanyak) paragraf mengandung satu referensi, 2) 70% ditemukan intisari setiap argumen yang sudah mendukung gagasan utama, 3) rata-rata telah ditemukan argumen berupa contoh, ilustrasi atau data pendukung, 4) 75 % mahasiswa memfungsikan kontra argumen, 5) rata-rata mahasiswa telah memaparkan dan menegaskan posisinya dalam penelitan, 6) ada 16 kata transisi antarkalimat dan 1 kata transisi antarpargraf yang difungsikan, dan 7) Mahasiswa menunjukkan kecenderungan menggunakan pola berpikir deduktif (kausalitas, contoh, enumerasi, proses, dan kontras) dalam menguraikan argumennya. Abstract

Short stories or a writer's fantasy that was written briefly, has intrinsic elements, one is a character. The part of characters In literary fiction Is one of the elements In the facts the story is critical to his presence in the literary world. From these discussions then the problem that will arise is how is every character in short stories. So the purpose of this research is to describe the character of the main character found in a short anthology of the Jantung Kehidupan by Tim Bubar which results from this study may add to the theoretical content of character analysis the main character in a short anthology of the Jantung Kehidupan. It is also hoped that the results of this study will provide information for the kind of studies to come. Keywords: main character and short story Abstrak Cerpen atau karya fantasi seorang penulis yang ditulis secara ringkas, memiliki unsur intrinsik, salah satunya yaitu penokohan. Bagian penokohan dalam karya sastra fiksi merupakan salah satu elemen dalam fakta-fakta cerita yang sangat penting kehadirannya dalam dunia sastra. Dari pembahasan tersebut, masalah yang timbul yaitu bagaimana sifat pada setiap tokoh yang ada dalam sebuah cerpen sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan karakterisasi tokoh utama yang terdapat dalam antologi cerpen Jantung Kehidupan karya tim bubar yang mana hasil dari penelitian ini dapat menambah perbendaharaan teori dalam analisis karakterisasi tokoh utama dalam antologi cerpen Jantung Kehidupan. Juga diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan informasi untuk penelitian yang sejenis pada masa yang akan datang. Kata kunci: karakter tokoh utama dan cerpen

Abstract

The article discusses the importance of cultivating a human environment. A sense of caring does not appear to be in a person, but through learning and being used to it in life. Efforts to familiarize themselves with the environment should be exalted early through the education level and supported by the family and community environment. One of the subjects that play an important role in cultivating the character of the environment is Indonesian language and literature. Through the teaching of Indonesian language and literature, the teacher packs an insight into ecological intelligence by referring to Mulyasa theory (2013) that one of the 2013 curriculum developments is environmental issues. Furthermore, Theoretical issues and the practice of ecological-oriented learning practices refer to the theory of Suwandi (2019) and Septiaji and Nisya (2020). Based on a description of the Indonesian language and literature study, optmalization of students ' caring for the environment can be carried out well. Keywords: learning, language and literature, ecological intelligence Abstrak Artikel membahas permasalahan pentingnya menanamkan sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan bagi manusia. Rasa kepedulian tidak muncul begitu saja dalam diri seseorang, melainkan melalui pembelajaran dan membiasakannya dalam kehidupan. Upaya membiasakan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan harus dimulia sejak dini melalui jenjang pendidikan dan didukung oleh lingkungan keluarga dan masyarakat. Salah satu mata pelajaran yang berperan penting dalam menanamkan karakter peduli terhadap lingkungan adalah bahasa dan sastra Indonesia. Melalui pengajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia, guru mengemas bahan ajar berwawasan kecerdasan ekologis dengan mengacu pada teori Mulyasa (2013) bahwa salah satu pengembangan kurikulum 2013 adalah permasalahan lingkungan hidup. Selanjutnya, permasalah secara teorEtis dan praktik pelaksanaan pembelajaran berwawasan ekologis mengacu pada teori Suwandi (2019) dan Septiaji dan Nisya (2020). Berdasarkan uraian tentang pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia berwawasan ekologis, optmalisasi penanaman karakter kepedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan dapat terlaksana dengan baik.
