Abstract

Indonesian Language Learning at Junior High School is performed to improve students' ability to communicate with good and correct Indonesian language, both oral and written, and to foster students’ appreciation for Indonesian literary works. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of writing skill of students of Dwiguna Depok Junior High School. It is a classroom action research using a two-cycle action model. The subject of the research is Dwiguna junior high school students. Data are obtained from the main instrument, namely research supported by supporting instruments such as observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results show that the writing activity using imaginative learning model has increased, with the students being creative with imagination without any limitations. It is seen from the analysis results showing that the students’ writing skill has improved, meaning this learning model can be used as an alternative to Indonesian Language learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to prove the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model on students' mathematics learning achievement in terms of logical-mathematical intelligence. The research is a quasi-experimental study. The population of the research is all seventh grade students of State Junior High Schools in Sukoharjo Regency. The data analysis technique used is a two-way analysis of variance with unequal cells. The conclusions of the research are: (1) TPS learning model produces learning achievement better than conventional learning model; (2) there is no difference in mathematics learning achievement between students with high and average logical-mathematical intelligence, and students with average and low logical-mathematical intelligence; students with high logical-mathematical intelligence have better mathematics learning achievement than those with low logical-mathematical intelligence; (3) in the group of students with high, average, and low logical-mathematical intelligence, the use of conventional and TPS learning models produces equally good learning achievements; (4) in the group of students with high and low logical-mathematical intelligence, the use of conventional and TPS learning models produces equally good learning achievements; in the group of students with average logical-mathematical intelligence, the TPS learning model produces learning achievements better than conventional learning model

Abstract

Alih kode, perubahan kode dalam penggunaan bahasa merupakan fenomena bahasa dalam masyarakat bilingual atau multibahasa. Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi menyebabkan banyak perubahan bahasa juga terjadi di internet termasuk situs jejaring sosial seperti Path. Penelitian ini adalah tentang bagaimana alih kode dari Bahasa Indonesia ke Bahasa Inggris ditunjukkan pada jejaring sosial Path. Penelitian ini berfokus pada jenis alih kode, pola bahasa, tema, dan fungsi alih kode. Data kode- beralih statusnya jalan dianalisis dengan teori alih kode oleh Poplack (1980), Gumperz (1982), dan Romaine (2000). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasilnya menunjukkan jenis alih kode di Path saling sentential dan intra beralih sentensial. Kedua jenis alih kode disajikan dalam kata-kata, frasa, dan kalimat. Alih kode pada kata adalah kata benda, kata sifat, kata keterangan, dan kata kerja. Frasa dalam kode-switching kata benda, kata sifat, adverbial, dan frase preposisional. Sedangkan alih kode kalimat yang ditemukan di Path tunggal, majemuk, dan kalimat kompleks. Tema dalam alih kode pada Path mencakup tema yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan sosial, akademik, dan pribadi dari pengguna bahasa. Fungsi alih kode dalam status dianalisis adalah untuk mengekspresikan emosi dan makna tertentu, untuk memaksakan makna tertentu, dan untuk menunjukkan identitas bahasa pengguna.

Abstract

This research aims to know the improvement in students’ mathematical disposition skill after performing student’s activity-based learning. The research is a quantitative research with a comparative approach. The statistical test used is t-test. The sample of this research consists of 70 students selected by employing a random sampling technique. Every sample is then similarly treated with two tests. First test or pretest is given before the samples are taught using a concept of student’s activity-based learning and the second test or posttest is provided after the samples are taught using a concept of student’s activity-based learning. The result of the research shows the improvement in students’ mathematical disposition skill after performing student’s activity-based learning. It is as proven in the t-test result, in which tobserved > ttable, namely 14.41 > 1.67 with significant level of 5%.

Abstract

The background of the research is the moral problems related to the the nation’s characters that occur in Indonesia due to the erosion of religious values resulting from the change of times that is damaging the morale of the students and nation. Education plays a role in shaping student’s good characters. Public Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Sleman, Yogyakarta cultivates religion to form student’s good characters. This research is expected to contribute to the education in providing students with good characters inherent in the student's personality through the habituation process. It is a field research that uses a qualitative descriptive analysis. Research data are collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The data are analyzed by reviewing data, reducing data, coding, checking the validity of data and then drawing a general conclusion from the specifically-studied data

Abstract

Beberapa media pembelajaran dapat digunakan untuk pembelajaran menulis, antara lain media wall chart , media gambar seri, media poster, media iklan, dan media brosur. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti memilih menggunakan media wall chart untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Media wall chart merupakan salah satu media pandang nonproyeksi. Peranan pokok wall chart dalam pembelajaran adalah untuk melatih penguasaan kosakata dan penyusunan kalimat. Melalui bimbingan dari guru, wall chart dapat berfungsi sebagai jembatan untuk membantu siswa dalam belajar menulis karangan argumentasi. Maka dari itu, peneliti memilih media wall chart sebagai media pembelajaran menulis karangan argumentasi siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner siswa menggunakan media wall chart dan tanpa menggunakan media wall chart terhadap menulis karangan argumentasi yang saat ini diberikan oleh pihak sekolah. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan nilai gap antara menggunakan media wall chart dan tanpa menggunakan media wall chart yang cukup signifikan. Dari hasil perhitungan didapatkan nilai gap kriteria menulis karangan argumentasi (Isi, Struktur Kalimat, Bahasa dan Ejaan dan tanda) yang tepat sebesar -3,2. Nilai gap dimensi kualitas keefektifan tertinggi adalah dimensi reliability sebesar -3,1. Sedangkan nilai gap antara menggunakan media wall dan tanpa menggunakan media wall adalah sebesar -3,361. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Media Wall Chart (bagan dinding) terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan argumentasi dapat meningkatkan keefektifan belajar.

Abstract

This research aims to show the effects of self-confidence and vocabulary mastery on English speaking skill. The method used in this research is a survey method with correlation technique. It is used to show a correlation between research variables. The sample of this research consists of 138 students from SMAN in East Jakarta, namely SMAN 39 and SMAN 88 in 2014. The result of the research shows that: 1) There are jointly significant effects of self-confidence and vocabulary mastery on English speaking skill, as proven by the value of FO = 11,130 and Sig. 0,000 < 0,05, meaning that self-confidence and vocabulary mastery variables jointly make a contribution of 14.2 % to student’s English speaking skill. 2) There is a significant effect of self-confidence on English speaking skill, as seen by the value of  tO = 3,987 and Sig. 0,000 < 0,05, indicating that self-confidence variable makes a contribution of 9.83% towards improving student’s English speaking skill. 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on student’s English speaking skill, as shown by the value of tO = 2,699 and Sig. 0,008 < 0,05, meaning that vocabulary mastery variable makes a contribution of 4,32% towards improving student’s English speaking skill.

Abstract

A song lyric is a person's expression of something that he has seen, heard or experienced. In expressing his experience, poet or song writer play with words and languages to  create attractive and unique lyrics or poems. This qualitative research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research is related to interpretation and description of data. The song lyric Jaran Goyang created by Andi Mbendol serves as the main object of this research. The research uses a purposive sampling technique and applies triangulation of data and theory. Data are analyzed using descriptive analysis technique, in which data are collected employing 2 techniques,namely reading and writing techniques. The purpose of this research is to know what type of code mixing contained in Jaran Goyang song lyrics, what kind of languages used, and what messages to be delivered. The result of this research shows there is code mixing in the song lyrics, namely inner mixing code of Javanese and outer mixing code of English.

Abstract

Every teacher must have work motivation as a motivate from intrinsic and extrinsic to increase their jobs. Teacher work motivation can get from their headmaster. Headmaster have effectiveness communication to their teacher at school. Effectivenes communication is important to create the culture of organization at school with harmonious. Contribution of headmaster is important to have good school with positive energy and comfortable. Aim the research is to describe how the headmaster in using effectiveness communication to increase teacher work motivation at SDN Mekarjaya 30 Depok. The method of this research is descriptive. Data was collected by in the interview, observation, and literatue study. Data analysis was performed by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion on verifications. The results of this research are headmaster in SDN Mekarjaya 30 Depok implemented the effectiveness communication to the teacher. It can see from the good choosen channel by headmaster to get effectiveness communication, headmaster  understand teacher’s personality and character.  Beside that headmaster using body language as a emphasis about the information to easy understand And teacher give the feed back with emphaty and have work motivation.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know whether there is any correlation between creative thinking and short story writing abilities. This research is conducted at XI grade of SMA Negeri 39 in Jakarta, with the sample consisting of 40 students. The research employs a survey method by applying regression and correlation analysis techniques. Further, the result of the research indicates that there is a positive and significant correlation between creative thinking ability (X) and short story writing ability (Y), as shown by the (r) value of 0,902 and regression equation of ? = 20,261 + 0,707X.
