Abstract

Has been research about influence of ethanol extract of leaves of soursop (Annona muricata L.) on the formation of coronary artery atherosclerosis of male quail induced  high fat feeding and propylthiourasil. Male quail were divided into five groups , each group getting treatment. Negative controls given standard diet, a positive control was given high fat feeding and propylthiouracil, doses of 50, 100, 200 mg / kg BW ethanol extract administered orally soursop leaves. The treatment is done for 60 day, then take heart, be making preparations histopathology and staining haematoxyllin-eosin. The results showed that the ethanol extract of leaves of soursop dose  50 mg / kg BW selective in preventing atherosclerosis in male quail, when compared with the positive control ( P < 0.05 ). While the administration at a dose of 100 and 200 mg / kg showed no selective in preventing atherosclerosis in male quail, when compared with the positive control .

Abstract

Research about microbial countamination on slimming herbals powders, pills, capsules and caplets circulating in Tarandam market, Padang, has been evaluated. Powders had total plate count 0 x 106 CFU/g for PP (standard quality of powder was ≤ 1 x 106 CFU/g for total plate count). Pills had total plate count ≤ 0.5 x 105 CFU/g for MR (standard quality of pill was ≤ 1 x 105 CFU/g for total plate count). Capsules had total plate count 1.1 x 105 CFU/g for LM and 1.6 x 105 CFU/g for SA (standard quality of capsule was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total plate count) and Caples had total plate count 0.2 x 105 CFU/g for SC (standard quality of caplet was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total plate count). The total plate count calculation showed that only powders and pills were observed the BPOM standard quality of herbal drugs.The fungal count from all of samples were not observed the standard quality of herbal drugs. Powders had total fungal count 9 x 104 CFU/g for PP (standard quality of powder was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total fungal count). Pills had total fungal count 3.1 x 104 CFU/g for MR (standard quality of pill was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count). Capsules had total fungal count 2,3 x 104 CFU/g  for LM and 2.6 x 104 CFU/g for SA (standard quality of capsule was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count) and caplets had total fungal count 2.1 x 104 CFU/g  for SC (standard quality of caplet was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count).

Abstract

The formulation of microcapsule of 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetate acid using biopolymer polycaprolactone as a matrix using solvent evaporation method has been carried out. The microcapsule formula was used three types with the ratio 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 between 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetate acid and polycaprolactone. Distribution particle test was used calibrated microscope. Active substance release test was detected by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Polycaprolactone can be used as the matrix polymer for slow release preparations and influence to the release of active substance 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate acid. Result showed that recovery test of the formula-2 containing 86.5 % higher than formula-1, 84.5% and formula-3 78.2%. Model of the kinetics of the release active substance from microcapsule which correlation coefficient close to one is formula-1 which follow zero order kinetics.

Abstract

Depresi merupakan gangguan psikiatri yang menonjolkan mood sebagai masalahnya, dengan berbagai gambaran klinis yakni gangguan episode depresif, gangguan sistemik, gangguan depresif mayor dan gangguan depresif unipolar serta bipolar. Depresi merupakan penyakit yang sering muncul terutama pada pasien penyakit kronis, salah satunya gagal ginjal kronik. Pada salah satu penelitian penelitian menemukan bahwa prevalensi depresi pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang menjalani hemodialisis mencapai 31,1%. Kualitas hidup merupakan sesuatu yang berhubungan dengan kesehatan yang bisa diartikan sebagai respon dari emosi penderita terhadap aktivitas sosial, emosi, pekerjaan dan hubungan antar keluarga, rasa bahagia atau senang, sesuai dengan harapan maupun kenyataan yang ada, adanya kepuasan dalam melakukan fungsi fisik sosial dan emosional, juga suatu kemampuan bersosialisasi dengan orang lain. Depresi diduga merupakan salah satu penyebab terjadinya penurunan kualitas hidup pasien. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui hubungan depresi terhadap kualitas hidup pasien gagal ginjal kronik. Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah cross sectional, dengan teknik pengambilan data judgment sampling. Penilaian depresi menggunakan Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI- II), sedangkan kualitas hidup pasien gagal ginjal kronik menggunakan Short Form Health Questionnaire (SF-36). Hasil: Nilai rata-rata kualitas hidup pasien gagal ginjal kronik pada penelitian ini adalah 61,42 yang berarti kualitas hidup rata-rata pasien baik. Dari uji korelasi menggunakan uji spearman terdapat hubungan yang cukup kuat antara tingkat kualitas hidup dengan tingkat depresi, dimana diperoleh hasil pasien non-depresi memiliki kualitas hidup yang baik, dan sebaliknya (p<0,05). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang sangat kuat antara depresi dengan kualitas hidup, dimana kualitas hidup pasien non-depresi lebih baik dari pada depresi. Oleh karena itu perlu perhatian yang khusus terhadap pasien gagal ginjal yang mengalami depresi.

Abstract

The research of acute toxicity of the etanolic extract of  the leave of  Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) has been done. Parameter measure were LD50 and the delay toxic effect during 14 day observation covering body weight, water intake, urine output, and relative weight of the liver, heart, and kidney. The toxicity by oral administration of the leave of Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) with dose 16 g/kg BB. that showed the etanolic extract of leave Jambu Bol (Eugenia malaccencis L.) is practical not toxic category (LD50 > 15 g/kg BB). The delay toxic effect was seen by significant changes in body weight and water intake, and was not see significant changes in urine output and the relative weight.

Abstract

Study about the influence of agarwood leave’s extract (Aquilaria malaccensis Lam.) on the formation of atherosclerosis in male quail (coturnic-coturnix japonica) induced high fat feeding and prophylthiourasil. Animal experiments were grouped into 5 consisting of Group I as a negative control only given food strander, group II as a positive control and PTU given MLT groups III, IV, V given leaf extract of aloes with a dose of 100 mg / kg BW, 300 mg / kg BW, 900 mg / kg BW and, along with the MLT and PTU the extract was given orally once a day for 60 day. The doses used were 100, 300, 900 mg/kg body weight respectively. Control groups was given food standar. Result showed that the administration of the agarwood leaf extract could prevent formation of atherosclerosis in male quail significantly (P <  0.05). The optimal effect showed doses 100 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

Absorption of active ingredients of topical preparations occur when the active substance is released from the carrier, then penetrate into deeper skin layers,into the capillaries and finally enter the bloodstream. This took place in passive diffusion. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of cream base type toward the penetration of chloramfenikol as the active ingredient. The examination done by using Franz diffusion cells vertical with miceskin as a membrane penetration.The resultsshowed that the 2ndformula  was better than the 1st and 3rd formula in organoleptic, homogeneity, pH value, washed ability, and the spread of particle size.There are none of the formula caused iritation. The chloramfenikol quantitation measurement which done by using UV spectrophotometer, gave result 101.8 %, 99.8 %, 98.4 % for formula 1, 2, and 3. From thepenetration test showedthe 2nd formula has the best penetration which is  26.07 %.

Abstract

Preparation and characterization of inclusion complex of amlodipine besylat with β - cyclodextrin has been done. Preparation of the inclusion complex was carried kneading method. Formed inclusion complex was characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT - IR spectrophotometer, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and the dissolution test. Data from X-ray diffraction, FT - IR, SEM can be concluded that inclusion complexes with kneading method give the best results. The dissolution efficient  results showed that the inclusion complex of amlodipine besylat - β - cyclodextrin with a kneading method increased significantly when compared with the active ingredient and the mixture of physics.

Abstract

Research on the effects of diuretics and solubility of kidney stones of Mangkokan leaf (Nothopanax scutellarium Merr.) extract has been done. Testing the solubility of kidney stones performed on 4 groups of test animals, namely the control group (without extract), The treatment dose groups of 0.5%, 1%, and 2%. Level of kidney stones are dissolved in the control group, 0.5%, 1% and 2% are 0.00521%, 0.01232%, 0.02433% and 0.05669% respectively. These result indicate a difference in dissolving kidney stones. Diuretic effect tested on 15 white male rats were divided into 5 groups of tests, one positive control group (furosemide), 1 negative control group (tween 80 1%), 3 treatment groups (doses of 125; 250 and 500 mg/kg BW). The result showed that all of three doses of extract have diuretic effect.

Abstract

The reseacrh about identification and assay of sodium benzoate content in fine milled chilli taken from three locations which were Pasar  Ibuh Payakumbuh, Pasar Bawah Bukittinggi  and  Pasar Raya Padang had been done, two samples were taken from each location. It was found that three samples gave positive indication by esterification reaction to the presence of sodium benzoate in samples. Assay of sodium benzoate in samples after extraction with ether as a solvent were carried out using ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The benzoic acid content of the positive samples were found to be in the range of 0.811-0.976 g/kg. This amount of benzoic acid content fine milled chilli samples were below the maximum amount allowedaccording to the rule  stated by to National Agency of Drug and Food Control Republic of Indonesia No. 36/2013 which was 1 g/kg, so it was safe to consume.
