Abstract

A study about production and characterization of dried Piper betle L. Leaf extracts with the a ddition of lactose as drying agents has been perfomed with various ratio 1:1, 1:1½ and 1:2. Ekstrak mode better various ratio 1:2 with dried extracts characterization result are : powder, fawn color.odor like plant and somewhat bitter taste. The dry extractswas madebycomparison ofextracts: lactose 1:1, 1:1½ and 1:2 and the best ekstract was in ratio 1:2, levels ofwater-soluble compounds extract 1:2 is 23.0699% ± 1.6353, levels ofethanolsolublecompounds 3.8094%  ±0.2109%, losses on drying 2.1367% ± 0.0144%, moisture content 2.0196 % ± 0.0019 %,apparentspecific gravity 0.5482 g/mL ± 0.0003 %, specific gravity of incompressible 0.5558 g/mL ± 0.0004 g/mL, The total ash content of 0.5660% ± 0.0613% and acidinsolubleash content of  0.5179%  ± 0.0309%.

Abstract

The optimation of production process of  bioplastic poly (3 - hidroxybutirat) (P(3HB) fermentation by Bacillus sp FAAC 20801 bacteria, using straw as carbon source has been carried out. Detection of P(3HB) produced using gas chromatography. The highest glucosa level obtain by using H2SO4 5% for hidrolisis. From 46800 mg straw (glucosa concentration 200 mg/mL) produce 5379 mg biomassa and 0.058 mg P(3HB) ; from 83400 mg straw (glucosa concentration 400 mg/mL) produce 5011 mg biomassa and 0.124 mg P(3HB) ; from 142800 mg straw (glucosa concentration 600 mg/mL) produce 3992 mg biomassa and 2.309 mg P(3HB).

Abstract

Diare merupakan masalah yang banyak terdapat di negara berkembang dimana diare dapat menyebabkan dehidrasi yang merupakan salah satu penyebab kematian. Herba greges otot (Equisetum debile Roxb.) merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang berkhasiat sebagai antidiare. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji aktivitas antidiare ekstrak etanol herba greges otot (Equisetum debile Roxb.) pada mencit putih jantan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode proteksi dan metode transit intestinal. Ekstrak diberikan secara oral dengan dosis 250 mg/kgBB, 500 mg/kgBB dan 750 mg/kgBB, sebagai pembanding digunakan loperamid HCl dosis 2 mg/kgBB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol herba greges otot (Equisetum debile Roxb.) pada dosis 750 mg/kgBB memberikan pengaruh antidiare lebih baik dibandingkan dengan dosis 500 mg/kg BB dan dosis 250 mg/kgBB (p<0.05). Peningkatan aktivitas antidiare terlihat seiring dengan peningkatan dosis pemberian ekstrak etanol greges otot (Equisetum debile Roxb.).

Abstract

Determination of vitamin C in purple dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyhizus) using High Performance Thin Layer LiquidChromatography (HPTLC) Densitometri with silica gel 60 F254 plate has been studied. The flash of dragon fruit was extracted using methanol by maseration method and the maseration extract was concentrated by using rotary evaporator. Vitamin C was seperated  by using HPTLC plate with silica gel 60 F254 as stutionary phase and etanol : acetic acid (9.5 : 0.5) as mobile phase  and the Rf was 0.64. The spot was maesured by using TLC-densitometry at 254 nm. The vitamin C content in dragon fruit maesured by using linear reqression y = 1726.9 + 17.8008x, r = 0.992. Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) ware 13.32360 ppm and 44.41201 ppm. Respectively  the recovery and RSD were calculated which, were 99.24 % and 7.42 % respectively. The study result showed that vitamin C content was 31.21564 ± 2.58116 ppm.

Abstract

Research about exploiting of straw as component of ethanol as fermentation based on difference able of inoculums consentration and fermentation time has been studied. Straw utilized in this research is result of agriculture raffle from rice plant type IR 46, which taken away from rice field the district of Lubuk Minturun, Padang. The first, stage hydrolysis was done to straw using H2SO4 P 1% with various time 30, 60, 120, 180 and 240 minute and determined glucose produced for each sample. The fermentation of ethanol by using Saccharomyces cereviceae bacterium were conducted at temperature 30ºC with speed 100 rpm. Sampling was taking every 6 hours (6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66). The inoculum’s grade level is variation by 1, 2, 3% v/v. Results showed that the optimum hydrolysis time wich mark by highest glucose rate is minute 240 with grade level 0.7765 %. The highest ethanol grade of which can be yielded with inoculum 1% was 0.02066 % v/v at yeast inoculum 2 % was of 0.02549 % v/v and yeast inoculum 3 % was of  0. 07804 % v/v.

Abstract

Mefenamic acid was categorized as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflamatory Drugs (NSAIDs) which has useful as analgesic, anti inflammatory, and antypiretic effect but it has poor solubility in water. The aim of this study was to increase the dissolution rate of mefenamic acid in a solid dispersion system which made by solvent method. Solid dispersion and physical mixture prepared with ratio 1:1, 1:3, and 1:5. Solid dispersion was prepared by solvent method Preparation of solid dispersion mefenamat acid – PVP-K30 in formula 1:3 was increased of dissolution significantly.  Characterization of Solid dispersion Mefenamic Acid with Polyvinylpyrrolidone used Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray, Spectroscopy IR, Differentyal Thermal Analysis (DTA). The result of X-ray diffraction characterization the dissolution Mefenamic Acid-Polyvinylpyrrolidone in which the intensity is visible. The characterization with DTA showed a change in the peak of Mefenamic Acid where the endoterm, the characterization using infrared spectroscopy shows no functional group interaction between Mefenamic Acid and Polyvinylpyrrolidone.

Abstract

The study of physical and chemical stability of solid dispersion ketoprofen-PVP K-30 has been studied. The solid dispersions system were prepared by solvent method with several variation amount. Ketoprofen-PVP K-30 was evaluated by its physicochemical properties using the Differential Thermal Gravimetric (DTG), FT-IR spectroscopy and dissolution profiles. This study used an accelerated stability test at temperature (40±2)˚C for 3 months. The test include organoleptic test and ketoprofen content. Ketoprofen content were measured by UV spectrophotometer at 255.5 nm, respectively, after were stored for 1, 2 and 3 months at a temperature (40±2)˚C. The analysis of DTG showed endothermic peak friction ketoprofen is significant. FT-IR spectra indicated no chemical interaction between ketoprofen-PVP K-30 in the solid dispersion. The result showed that solid dispersion of ketoprofen with PVP K-30 gave a good physicochemical characterization of ketoprofen and could improve the dissolution rate of ketoprofen. Formula 3 of solid dispersion shown  the highest dissolution rate at 30 minute (82.657%) ( not less than 80%). The chemical and physical stability of solid dispersion of ketoprofen-PVP K-30, indicating change in the physics and chemistry of solid dispersions. The organoleptic test also showed discoloration of the three formulas and third assay formula showed that increasing the concentration of PVP-K-30 in the solid dispersion will lead to decreased content of ketoprofen. In addition, the most stable formula is a formula 1 with a ratio of 1:1 which resulted usage of 29 months.

Abstract

Study about the analgesic effect of aethanolic extract of tapak liman leaf (Elephantopus scaber L) of white mice mice induced acetat acid 1% has been done. Extract was administered orally of variation dose 100, 300 and 900 mg/bw once daily until 7, 14 and 21 day. Results showed that giving of aethanolic extract of tapak liman leaf could decreased amount of stretching significantly.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian uji aktivitas fraksi dari ekstrak akar kangkung (Ipomoea aquatica Forssk.) terhadap bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Sampel akar basah diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96 % dan  difraksinasi dengan menggunakan pelarut n-heksan, etil-asetat, dan butanol. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar menggunakan konsentrasi masing-masing fraksi 10 %, 20 % dan 30 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada konsentrasi 10 % fraksi etil asetat memiliki daya hambat lebih besar (6,1 mm) dari pada fraksi n-heksan (6 mm) dan fraksi butanol (4,6 mm) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis dengan one-way ANOVA. Hasil uji statistik didapatkan hasil yang bermakna dengan (sig 0,129 > 0,05) artinya tidak terdapat perbedaan zona hambat yang signifikan dari ketiga fraksi.

Abstract

Nifedipin is a poorly water soluble calcium channel blocking agent. Solid dispersion is one of several pharmaceutical technologies that enhance the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.  The objective of this study was to prepare and characterize nifedipin-poloxamer 188 solid dispersion by fusion method. Combination of nifedipin and poloxamer 188 for F1, F2 and F3 were 1:9, 2:8 and 3:7 respectively.  The physical mixture and solid dispersions were characterized for particles size distribution, drug-carrier interaction, drug content and dissolution rate. The physicochemical characterization showed a specific characterized of solid dispersion.  As indicated from X Ray Diffractograms, DTA thermograms and SEM photographs, nifedipin was in the  amorphous form and entrapped in polymer matrix. FTIR results proved no chemical interaction between nifedipin and poloxamer 188. SEM images showed a new morphology of solid dispersions compare with pure drug and physical mixture. The dissolution rate was increased with increasing polymer concentrations. F1 showed the highest dissolution rate among all formulas. Statistic analysis showed a significant differences (P<0.05) of dissolution efficiency among all formulas.
