Abstract

A study on protein content of fresh mussel shells, curry soup mussel shells and fried mussel shells by using Kjeldahl method had been researched. The procedur involve destruction, destilation and titration. Each sample were destructed with consentrated sulfuric acid and catalyst mixture of selenium. The solution of sodium hydroxyde was then added to the resulting solution and the amonia liberated was destilled into solution of hydrochloric acid prepared in excess. Its then the hydrochloric solution was titrated with solution of sodium hydroxide 0.1 N using methyl red as and indicator. Protein content can be calculated by multiplying the total nitrogen content of the sample with protein conversion factor (total nitrogen X 6.25). The highest protein content is fried mussel shells 7.1491 % ± 0.0249, than curry soup mussel shells 6.5771 % ± 0.1095 and the last fresh mussel shells 6.3927 % ± 0.0206.

Abstract

Research on the effect of giving the fraction of ethanolic extracts of roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) to male white rats urine volume has been done, the  fraction was given orally at a dose of n-hexane fraction of 95 mg/g BW, the fraction of ethyl acetate 145 mg/g BW and the fraction of the remaining 350 mg/g BW once a days for 7, 14 and 21. Result shows that the fraction of n-hexane giving 95 mg/g BW, fraction ethyl acetate of  145 mg/g BW, and the remaining fraction of 3450 mg/kg BW roselle calyx  (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) can effect urine volume increased male white rats. Duration of the three fractions on days 7, 14 and 21 show a not significant increase in urine volume (P<0.05).

Abstract

Characterization of simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes by co-grinding method had been studied. Solid state simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin inclusion complex prepared by co-grinding method in 1:1 mol ratio. Simvastatin, b-cyclodextrin, simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin physical mixture and inclusion complexes were characterization by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transformation Infra red (FTIR), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and dissolution studies. X-Ray Diffraction results showed decreasing peak intensity diffractogram very sharp compared to pure simvastatin and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were showed the interaction between simvastatin and b-cyclodextrin. In vitro dissolution rate studies of simvastatin, simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin physical mixture and inclusion complexes. Simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin inclusion complex showed increasing dissolution rate significant compared to simvastatin - b-cyclodextrin physical mixture and pure simvatatin. The results showed the formation of inclusion complex between simvastatin and b-cyclodextrin by co-grinding method.

Abstract

A study on the preparation of sodium carboxymethil cellulose (Na-CMC) from celulose powder that was isolated from the stems elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) has been performed. Cellulose was purified using 17.5% of sodium hydroxide solution, then bleach, dried and crushed to obtain alpha cellulose. Alfa cellulose was eterified with sodium chloroacetat resulting sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, furthermore characterized: organoleptic, losses on drying, chemical identification, pH test and test with fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The results showed that of 300 g stems elephant grass yield alpha cellulose as much as 92,.54 g and 25 g of alpha cellulose produced  Na-CMC as 16.92 g. Based on the characterization made Na-CMC and Na-CMC Merck®  meet Indonesian Pharmacopoeia 3th edition requirement.

Abstract

Pelayanan kefarmasian adalah suatu pelayanan langsung dan bertanggung jawab kepada pasien untuk meningkatkan mutu kehidupan pasien. Terjadinya perubahan paradigma dari drug oriented menjadipatient oriented menuntut petugas kefarmasian untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan dan perilaku agar kebutuhan, keinginan, harapan dan kepuasan dari masyarakat dapat dipenuhi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian di apotek rawat jalan RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang, hubungan  karakteristik pasien (jenis kelamin, umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan dan pendapatan) dengan kepuasan dan komponen dominan yang mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan metode cross-sectionalmenggunakan intrumen Larson. Uji non-parametrikMann-Whitney digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan  jenis kelamin pasien dengan kepuasan pasien, sedangkan uji non-parametrikKruskal Wallis digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan dan pendapatan pasien dengan kepuasan pasien. Sebanyak 381 pasien di apotek rawat jalan RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang telah berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Secara umum tingkat kepuasan pasien adalah cukup puas, dengan rata-rata kepuasan 3,16. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian dengan pendidikan dan pekerjaan (p < 0,05), sedangkan hubungan jenis kelamin, umur dan pendapatan dengan kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan kefarmasian tidak ada perbedaan makna (p > 0,05). Dimensi yang dominan mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien adalah dimensi Friendly Explanation di bandingkan Managing Teraphy.

Abstract

Research on the effect of ethanol extract of pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L) Vahl) against liver and kidney function in male white mice have been done. Extracts administered orally with various doses of 150, 300 and 600 mg / kg bw once daily for 15, 30 and of 45 days. As a control group used white males mice who were given only 0.5% Na CMC. Activity SGPT and SGOT, creatinine clearance, renal function and the percentage ratio of organ weight were measured. The result showed that the extract at given doses effects liver function (p<0.05) and not effects  the urinary creatinine levels (p> 0.05)

Abstract

Eggs consumed by many people because it’s easily to processed, low cost, and have perfect substances, especially proteins. The purpose of this research were to determine levels of the protein in the fowl’s eggs. The sample used in this research are rooster chicken egg, ayam kampung egg, duck egg, and quail egg. The protein content in fowl’s eggs were evaluated using Kjeldahl method by calculating the total nitrogen content and converted (conversion factor is 6.25). Result of the research protein content contained in rooster chicken egg 6.4506 % ± 0.1418, ayam kampung egg 6.9102 % ± 0.0475, duck egg 6.5996 % ± 0.0497, and quail egg 6.5532 % ± 0.0110. The result of the test statistics clarify that the sample eggs are examined to contain the protein with the levels of different significantly (F = 94.461 and sig. 0.000 (<0.05)). Where ayam kampung egg have protein content higher than another eggs sample and the lowest protein content contained in rooster chicken egg.

Abstract

It has been done research about effect of Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract on the levels of blood LDL in white male mice. The extract was given orally at the dose of 100, 300 and 900 mg/kg BB once a day for 7, 14 and 21 days. The animals were divided into 5 groups, group I  as negative control which was given only the standar food, group II as positive control wich was induced by high fat diet, as for the group III, IV, and V has been given the standar food with fat diet  and the Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract in the dose varied as mentioned before. In the day of 7th, 14th and 21st, the level of blood LDL was examined for all of the group. The result shows that Elephantopus scaber L. leaves’s aethanolic extract reduce the LDL blood level significantly compare to the positive control (p<0,05) for 14 and 21 days of administration.

Abstract

The production of bioplastic P(3HB) with fermentation process by Bacillus brevis FAAC-20801 from palm oil as carbon has been carried out. The fermentation process was conducted throug at pH 7, 37oC and agitation rate of 200 rpm for 60 hours. The characterization of the bioplastic production was based on cell growth, P(3HB) content and P(3HB) percentage. Results showed that the optimum time was 48 hours, with fermentation biomassa 277 mg, P(3HB) content of 7.2 mg/ 20 mg biomassa (36 % b/b). Fermentation process in bioreactor produced P(3HB) higher than in rotary shaker incubator.

Abstract

The research of immunomodulatory activity and leucocyte cell counts of white male mice has been done by using red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus lemairei (Hook.) Britton & Rose) extracts. Animals were divided into 4 groups, which consists of only one group was given a  NaCMC supension, 2, 3, and 4 group in extract red dragon fruit peel with a dose of 10 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB dan 100 mg/kg BB. Extracts are given for 6 days orally. The result of research showed given the extract red dragon fruit peel orally  of male mice for 6 days can improve the constants and phagocytosis index, and increasing the dose 100 mg/kg BB. The activity of the red dragon fruit peel extract also increased the counts of cells and the total counts of leukocytes was significantly (P <0,05).  A dose of 100 mg/kg BB is the best dose improve the immunomodulatory activity and leukocyte cell counts.
