Abstract

The global maternal mortality rate is 152 deaths per 100,000 live births. This number is about twice as high as SDG's target of 70 deaths per 100,000 live births. One of the causes of maternal death is prolonged labour caused by uterine contraction disorders and anxiety disorders of labour pain at the active first stage, resulting inadequate contractions. This Study was to analyze the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation techniques on the labour pain level during the active first stage. The method used was pre-experimental research, with a sample size of 20 mothers giving birth. The samples were determined using total sampling techniques based on inclusion criteria. The results of this study revealed that the average pain scale at the active first stage of labour in the pre-test was (M) = 2,7 with Standard Deviation (SD) = 0,5 which showing the patient's discomfort during contractions in the first active stage of labour. After demonstrating the deep breathing relaxation technique, the average pain scale decreased to (M) = 1,6 and SD = 0,6, which indicates a successful intervention. Indicate that labour pain during the active phase has a significance of 0.000. This study concluded that deep breathing relaxation technique therapy for labour pain is effective to reduce labour pain during the active first stage

Abstract

Neonatal tetanus is one of the leading causes of neonatal mortality due to Clostridium tetani infection, which commonly occurs as a result of non-sterile deliveries. Tetanus Toxoid (TT) immunization serves as the primary preventive measure by providing protection for pregnant women and their fetuses through antibody transfer. Although TT immunization has been recommended by the WHO and the government, its coverage remains low in certain regions. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the distribution of TT immunization among pregnant women and identify the factors contributing to the lack of immunization uptake. This study employs a descriptive quantitative method, collecting data through surveys conducted among 77 pregnant women in Lembar Selatan Village, Lembar District. The data were analyzed using frequency distribution and percentage calculations. The results indicate that 53% of pregnant women had not received TT immunization, with the primary reason being fear of side effects (85%). Additionally, a small proportion of respondents did not receive immunization due to insufficient gestational age (10%) and unavailability of the vaccine (5%). In conclusion, the low coverage of TT immunization in Lembar Selatan Village is influenced by concerns over side effects, despite a relatively high awareness of its benefits. Therefore, enhanced education and more intensive socialization efforts by healthcare workers, as well as improved access to immunization services for pregnant women, are necessary.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Many mothers experience common complications in breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of Marmet breast massage on breast milk engorgement. The study was conducted at the Independent Practice of Midwife Rosita. The research method used was a quasi-experiment on postpartum mothers on the first day until the seventh day of postpartum. On the eighth day, observations were made on the occurrence of breast milk engorgement. This study used two groups, namely the intervention group and the control group. The number of samples used was 32 samples. Data analysis used the chi-square test. In this study, it was found that Marmet breast massage on postpartum mothers was not effective for breast milk engorgement. Therefore, it is recommended that even though Marmet breast massage in this study was not significantly effective, education on correct breastfeeding techniques and breast care should still be provided to postpartum mothers. In addition, support from family and health professionals is very important in helping postpartum mothers overcome breastfeeding problems. Practical training and guidance on how to breastfeed, correct baby attachment, and correct breast massage techniques can also increase breastfeeding success and prevent complications such as breast milk engorgement.

Abstract

The postpartum period is the period that begins after the baby is born until the woman's organs recover to their pre-natal state. During this period, women experience various adaptations, both physiologically, psychologically, and socially. One of the common psychological problems experienced by mothers after giving birth is anxiety. One way to reduce this anxiety is to use jasmine aromatherapy. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of jasmine aromatherapy in reducing anxiety levels in postpartum mothers. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design without control, which was carried out in the work area of Puskesmas I, East Denpasar. The number of samples taken was 30 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling. The independent variable in this study was jasmine aromatherapy, while the dependent variable studied was a decrease in anxiety levels. Data were collected using an anxiety level questionnaire using the Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) and data analysis was carried out in stages including univariate and bivariate (paired T-test). Based on the results of the study, almost half (40%) of respondents had mild anxiety before being given jasmine aromatherapy and almost all (86.7%) of respondents did not have anxiety after being given jasmine aromatherapy. Bivariate results showed a significant effect of reducing postpartum maternal anxiety before and after being given jasmine aromatherapy (p value 0.000). It is expected that health workers can use jasmine aromatherapy on postpartum mothers as an alternative to reduce anxiety and discomfort.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are at high risk of developing anemia due to significant iron requirements, which are exacerbated by menstruation, poor dietary patterns, worm infections, the habit of drinking tea or coffee after meals, lack of sleep, vitamin C deficiency, and economic circumstances. In addition to consuming iron supplements, the prevention and treatment of anemia can be achieved through a balanced diet, including drinking mung bean extract, which is rich in iron and vitamin C and can increase hemoglobin levels. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest two-group design at SMAN 2 Pekanbaru to analyze the effect of the combination of blood-boosting tablets and mung bean extract on increasing hemoglobin levels in 32 adolescent girls who exhibited symptoms of anemia and low hemoglobin levels (<12 gr/dl). The samples were divided into two groups: the intervention group (blood-boosting tablets + mung bean extract) and the control group (blood-boosting tablets only), each consisting of 16 individuals. The research findings indicated a significant increase in hemoglobin in both groups after the intervention. However, the group that consumed mung bean extract and blood-boosting tablets experienced a higher increase in hemoglobin levels (1.553 gr/dl) compared to the control group (1.017 gr/dl), with a statistically significant difference (p=0.020). The importance of health education by healthcare professionals and related institutions regarding the potential of mung bean extract as an alternative for anemia prevention in adolescent girls is emphasized. Routine hemoglobin level checks, particularly in adolescent girls, also need to be conducted more frequently..
