Abstract

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Jakarta is a five-star hotel located in the center of Jakarta. The atmosphere of a hotel room plays an important role in creating quality rest. Acoustic systems and room noise control in an architectural context are the key to creating comfort. This research aims to examine the application of acoustic materials in rooms at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Jakarta. Based on survey results obtained from visitor reviews on the website and direct surveys, the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta hotel room area has problems related to noise pollution or light pollution originating from noise on the highway. In this research, the method employed is a qualitative, utilizing an identification approach. With a focus for the application of soundproofing systems, this research seeks solutions to improve acoustic comfort within the hotel rooms in question, using multiple data sources to provide some insight into the problem at hand. In this regard, clear results have been acquired to enhance the quality of acoustic comfort in hotel rooms, by using certain material specifications. Based on research findings, understanding and how best to apply soundproofing techniques can help reduce sound pollution entering hotel rooms.

Abstract

Lighting in cafés is a factor that needs to be considered in creating a comfortable and attractive atmosphere for visitors. This study discusses lighting in café interior design using the theory of layered lighting or the "layer approach" concept to understand and explain the interpretation of empirical data collected from a case study of six cafés located in Bintaro Jaya Xchange Mall. The objective of this research is to identify how the layered lighting concept is applied in café interior design and its impact on the comfort of visitors in carrying out activities. This research uses a qualitative approach and descriptive method by analyzing the application of lighting layers based on field observations and analyzing visitors' visual comfort through lighting aspects via interviews. The conclusion of this research is that there is a tendency to use spotlight lighting as the main lighting and indirect strip lighting as ambient, task, and decorative layers. The effect of the focal layer is insignificant because café lighting prioritizes comfort and ambiance. Ambient lighting can also function as both task and decorative layers because, as general lighting, it can determine the atmosphere and aesthetic value of the space. Properly planned and arranged ambient, task, focal, and decorative lighting layers can enhance the emotional and aesthetic atmosphere of the room and enrich the visual experience without putting excessive strain on the eyes.

Abstract

MMHC (Madani Mental Health Care) is a mental health rehabilitation house focusing on improving mental health. A mental rehabilitation house is a facility that provides special mental health services that require a comfortable environment, including the interior, to support the patient's psychology. One of the interior elements that has a psychological effect is color. The correct application of color in the interior can support the comfortable atmosphere you want to create in a room, especially in inpatient rooms. In a mental rehabilitation house, the inpatient room is the room that will be used most often by patients. So the colors used must be appropriate and can provide a calming and comfortable effect. This writing aims to examine the role of warm color as an important aspect of the interior by choosing the right colors in inpatient rooms in mental rehabilitation houses. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach carried out by observation and interviews with psychiatrists and several MMHC rehabilitation house administrators. The results of the research state that warm colors are the best colors for use in inpatient rooms in mental rehabilitation houses. It is hoped that this writing will be useful for the world of developing interior design science in designing mental rehabilitation houses. Abstract

In the era of environmental uncertainty in the use of sustainable materials in terms of material fulfillment and increasing concern for sustainability, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) building play an important role in implementing national habitat and forestry environmental policies and programs. However, based on the result of observation and interview, it was found that the problem of the interior materials are not in accordance with the MoEF's planned environmental approach. The purpose of this study is to examine the requirements of ecological materials suitable for the interior for the MoEF building, to create a sustainable interior by incorporating ecological materials, and to increase awareness and understanding of environmental materials among interior designers and other stakeholders. The research method used was a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection focused on designers' attitudes towards eco-friendly design. Limitations of this study include the emphasis on the adoption of sustainable interior materials only, without any major changes to the structure. This research considers the technical, economic, and aesthetic aspects of ecological material selection. It also provides practical guidance on how to reduce environmental impact through the use of ecological materials in interiors, creating a more sustainable interior environment. Abstract

This research examines the application of green architecture principles in preserving and revitalizing vernacular rice granaries in Indonesia, focusing on a case study in Kasepuhan Gelar Alam, Halimun Mountain National Park, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. Kasepuhan Gelar Alam, established in 2023, is a result of relocation from Kasepuhan Ciptagelar, continuing the 'ngalalakon' tradition that has been ongoing since 1368. The rice granaries, or 'leuit' in the Sundanese language, are the main object of this study, given their vital role in the life of the local community. This research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, involving three main stages: data collection through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation; processing and analysis focusing on applying six green architecture principles to the leuit. These principles include (1) energy conservation, (2) climate adaptation, (3) minimizing new resource use, (4) respect for users, (5) respect for site, and (6) a holistic approach. The final stage involves drawing conclusions based on the results of the analysis. The main focus of the research is Leuit Si Jimat, which serves as a reference for all rice granaries in Kasepuhan Gelar Alam. The research findings indicate that although the architecture of rice granaries in Kasepuhan Gelar Alam is based on customary regulations and ancestral culture, modern green architecture principles are applied in their design and construction. This finding highlights the potential integration between green architecture and cultural heritage preservation, opening opportunities for developing sustainable strategies in preserving and revitalizing similar vernacular structures throughout Indonesia. Abstract

The Manglayang Bandung Farmers Group Ecotourism Area encompasses a large expanse of land that has yet to be fully utilised. This area is intended to become a destination for visitors, in line with its ecotourism tagline. To achieve this vision, the development of a new structure is necessary. As part of the planning, an amphitheater design has been proposed, based on the expected behaviours of future users and incorporating biophilic elements to create a refreshing atmosphere for visitors. The amphitheater design integrates biophilic principles to foster a connection between nature and the activities taking place within the facility. This approach focuses on the use of natural materials, vegetation, scenic views, natural lighting, and sensory stimulation to enhance visitors' psychological perception of nature. The design process follows a qualitative methodology, using a design thinking framework as its foundation. The outcome is anticipated to provide visitors with new and enriching experiences in the amphitheater. Keywords: Amphitheater, Biophilic, Designing, Ecotourism

Abstract

Color is one of the most important aspects on interior elements so that interior design in general could serve the function that is expected. Color can affect people’s feeling and behavior when they are doing activities indoor, in this case is cafe. Color scheme that is irrelevant with the cafe’s concept can affect user’s experience negatively in various factors such as feeling, behavior, and comfort. Therefore, there are many cafes in Bandung that carefully plan their color scheme, one of which is Mahidana herbs cafe. This cafe has its own uniqueness amidst lots of coffeeshops in Bandung. Mahidana, which only serves Traditional Indonesian Herbal Drinks has a different color scheme compared to most cafes in general. The purpose of this research is to know the role of interior color to the user’s experience while enjoying the drinks in this cafe. In this research, the qualitative method is applied. This includes the observation of the cafe and interviewing cafe’s consumers. From this research, the importance of color is known because the chosen color palette can affect the feeling and experience of the user who visits Mahidana herbs cafe.

Abstract

In order to support the increase of students' interest in reading and the accessibility of reading materials among students of Bhakti Winaya 2 State Elementary School, adequate and well-organized facilities are needed. However, it was found that the bookshelves available at Bhakti Winaya 2 State Elementary School at this time have not been able to meet the needs of book storage flexibly and efficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to design a modular bookshelf specifically to support library activities and facilitate students in accessing books. This research uses Mixed Methods and the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach to design bookshelves that can meet the needs of students aged 6-12 years in organizing and accessing books during library activities. The design results of this modular bookshelf show that students are more assisted in organizing and accessing book collections more easily and efficiently, especially in daily library activities. Therefore, this designed modular bookshelf can help improve the organization and accessibility of books without interfering with students' learning and reading activities.

Abstract

Perancangan interior café yang menarik dan dipertimbangkan estetikanya dapat menunjang keinginan dan kebutuhan dari pembeli, salah satu contohnya seperti untuk berfoto pada spot café yang bagus untuk dipamerkan di media sosial. Penelitian ini akan menganalisa Pause Coffee Citraland dalam pengaruh desain interior terhadap penjualannya. Pause Coffee Citraland telah dibuka sejak Juni 2023 dengan daya tarik pada estetika bangunan maupun interiornya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyimpulkan pengaruh desain interior pada penjualan dan kepuasan pembeli, serta memberi kriteria desain interior café yang banyak digemari oleh anak muda maupun orang dewasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan cara survei berdasarkan studi kasus site Pause Coffee Citraland melalui angket online. Data yang telah terkumpul akan diolah secara deskriptif. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya kesimpulan bahwa café yang memiliki desain interior unik dan menarik secara tidak langsung dapat meningkatkan penjualan melalui soft selling dari pengguna ke media sosial mereka pribadi. Kriteria desain interior yang banyak digemari adalah (1) desain café yang estetik, seimbang, dan tidak berlebihan, (2) furniture nyaman dengan bentuk yang unik, (3) memiliki banyak spot foto menarik, dan (4) suasana mendukung produktivitas kegiatan pembeli. Abstract

Keberadaan berbagai kafe di Bandung tidak saja menjadi tujuan kuliner tetapi juga tempat bersantai. Daya tarik yang diciptakan kafe seringkali melalui desain yang menarik maupun cita rasa berbagai menu. Kenyataan tersebut yang menyebabkan kafe di Bandung menjadi tempat berkumpul sambil bersantai. Dari banyaknya kafe di Bandung, belum banyak yang menerapkan konsep biofilik, yaitu perancangan yang menekankan kaitan erat antara manusia, alam dan bangunan yang dapat meningkatkan kenyamanan dan kesejahteraan fisik. Satu usaha tempat makan di Bandung yang mengusung konsep biophilic pada interior ruangannya adalah Jardin Café. Konsep tersebut menjadi keunggulan di Jardin Cafe dengan menghadirkan tanaman hidup dan penerapan ruang terbuka yang menghadirkan suasana nyaman, segar dan relaks bagi pengunjung. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan konsep biophilic di Jardin Café yang mempengaruhi suasana dan pengunjung yang berada di dalamnya. Metode kualitatif dan penggunaan teori biofilik digunakan untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian melalui kegiatan observasi dan wawancara pengunjung cafe. Hasil penelitian menghadirkan informasi bahwa kehadiran tanaman sebagai elemen biofilik di dalam Jardin Cafe memberikan dampak positif pada suasana ruang dan pengunjung.   Kata kunci : Desain biofilik, lingkungan relaksasi, kafe, interior
