Abstract

The issue of cleanliness is one aspect that Islam pays great attention to. This can be seen from several Al-Qur'an texts and hadiths which equate the level of cleanliness with a person's faith, so it is appropriate for Muslims to implement clean living behavior in their daily lives, especially students in Islamic boarding schools. This article explains the existence of various religious texts regarding cleanliness which are studied by santri through recitation with two basic questions; first, what is the knowledge of the Siti Fatimah Islamic Boarding School students regarding cleanliness traditions?; and second, does the students' knowledge of the hadith on cleanliness have a relationship with clean living behavior? These questions were then studied using quantitative methods with a correlational approach and analyzed using the theory of reasoned action. The results of this research show that there is no significant relationship between knowledge of cleanliness hadiths and clean living behavior of Siti Fatimah Islamic Boarding School students. Based on the analysis of the theory of reasoned action, the santri's clean living behavior is purely a behavior, there are no other influencing factors.

Abstract

Joseph Schacht, through the book The Muhammadan Jurisprudence, raises a criticism of sanad which considers that hadith did not start from the Prophet, but from tabi'in. It's just that Schacht's concept is considered weak because he is inconsistent and forgets a lot of data and important aspects in the study of hadith. This article appears as the author's attempt to explain the concepts promoted by Schacht and also some of the problems carried out by Schacht. With the help of the descriptive-analytical method combined with a comparison of experts' arguments as a medium of analysis, it can be seen how gaps emerge in Schacht's attitude. The results of the analysis explain that the Schacht controversy is related to; first, Schacht's rejection of the hadith which is not in line with the data of the companions which are part of the hadith; secondly, the theory built by Schacht can be said to be very weak, because much of the data found refutes Schacht's hypothesis; third, there is subjectivity in the use of data and analysis results; and fourth, Schacht, who is known as an expert in Islamic law, should study hadith, but he does not believe that hadith comes from the Prophet.

Abstract

Not only as a second guide after the Qur'an, some Muslims treat the hadith of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri in a unique and unusual manner; read in turns without explanation like the practice of reciting the Koran. In contrast to reading the Koran, which has religious values (worship, intercession, and others), there are no hadiths or the Koran that encourage the reading of hadiths. Using a social history perspective, the paper attempts to explore how the early emergence and development of the practice of reading hadith Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri in the Islamic world and how hadith (text) exists in the social practices of Muslims. As a practice that spatializes the sound of hadith texts (living hadis), this paper finds four forms of classification of transmission-transformation of hadith reading practices: 1). Hadith reading in the tradition of hadith transmission, has emerged from the beginning as a method of teaching and spreading hadith. 2). The reading of hadiths in healing practices in the 3H century, was carried out by Ahmad bin Mashur al-Ramadi. 3). In the 7H/13M century, reading appeared and the use of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri as a protective practice in the social space, as an intermediary for the personification of the Prophet to God in answering the problems faced by Muslims. 4). The reading and use of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri developed into a routine annual tradition in the 8H/14AD centuries; Rajab; Sha'ban; Ramadan; dry months. Done with big celebrations to get goodness, blessings, piety, reward, intercession of the Prophet, revive the Prophet's Sunnah, preserve ancestral traditions, hospitality, and efficacious intermediaries of prayer.

Abstract

The Prophet through his hadiths taught goodness to his people, both in the realm of attitude, character, worship, and even greater things. In practice, Muslims only implement the prophet's commands to the extent of religious doctrine which considers the prophet to be ma'shum, but they forget the conceptual dimensions that actually support the truth of what the prophet conveyed. This article discusses the connectivity between the hadith of the Prophet SAW and sains through two fundamental questions; first, what is the methodological conceptual relationship between hadith and sains?, and second, to what extent is the truth of hadith seen from a scientific perspective? Both questions are analyzed using descriptive-analytical research methods which will then be compared to find the meeting point. The results found a very close relationship between hadith and sains, where both are built on methodology and are objective. The truth is not just a claim, but the truth is proven through data and facts.

The great urgency in loving knowledge and the ulama' is truly felt by various groups of society, including Gus Iqdam, the caregiver of the Sabilu Taubah assembly. This assembly was attended by tens of thousands of people who went viral on social media, so anything that emerged from Gus Iqdam would attract the attention of the wider public. This article discusses Gus Iqdam's interpretation of the hadith of loving knowledge and ulama at the Sabilu Taubah assembly which was done very simply, thus raising the question; What is Gus Iqdam's method of explaining hadith regarding science and ulama?, and what are the implications for the congregation?. Furthermore, this research uses qualitative methods with descriptive delivery and uses a content analysis approach. As a result, there are two conclusions from the results of this study; Firstly, Hadith is used by Gus Iqdam as a motivational guide for the audience. Second, Gus Iqdam uses a simple normative-contextual paradigm and focuses on adjusting the psychology of the congregation so that the practical meaning of the hadith can be conveyed according to the conditions of the recipient.

However, there are still forms of cooperation practices based on caring, such as those in Kajjan Village which is called Jhungrojhung. This article discusses the relationship between the practice of jhungrojhung and the hadith of the Prophet as its main basis. Furthermore, this research focuses on two problem formulations; First, what is the essence of the Jhungrojhung tradition in Kajjan Village, District. Blega Kab. Bangkalan?; and second, how does the Jhungrojhung Tradition correlate with the hadith of the Prophet saw? These questions were analyzed using a qualitative approach based on field studies and supported by a phenomenological approach. As a result, there was no shift in values in the practice of Jhungrojhung in Kajjan village because there was no economic class dichotomy in the Kajjan village community. Apart from that, the Prophet's hadith regarding for people who assist others is the main motivation and practical basis for this practice, so its existence can still be felt today.

Abstract

The term "Living Hadith" represents a new variant in Hadith studies. The author will elucidate the interdisciplinary approach that has been employed in Living Hadith studies and its contributions. This research applies literature review methodology. Data is collected from Google Scholar research within the timeframe of 2017-2023. Subsequently, the data is classified and analyzed. This study identifies three interdisciplinary approaches most commonly utilized by Living Hadith researchers: phenomenology, sociology of knowledge, and ethnography. The study also demonstrates the contributions of interdisciplinary approaches in Living Hadith studies, including preventing Living Hadith researchers from falling into subjective judgment and unilateral justifications, as well as avoiding the limitation of Living Hadith studies to the mere description of a tradition subsequently grounded in Hadith. Instead, these approaches make the study more intriguing by drawing diverse conclusions in line with the interdisciplinary approach employed.

Abstract

As one of the pillars of Islam, the Hajj has great urgency to be carried out by every Muslim who is considered to have the ability. Apart from being an obligation, the Hajj also has many advantages, as explained in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. This research examines the congregation's acceptance of the hadith on the virtues of the Hajj and its implementation in carrying out the Hajj pilgrimage through two problem formulations; first, what is the reception of the Hajj pilgrims towards the hadith; and second, what is the form of implementation of the hadith by the congregation? This question was analyzed using a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods supported by data related to the pilgrims' understanding of the hadith of the virtues of the Hajj and the practices carried out during the Hajj pilgrimage. The research results show that the majority of Hajj pilgrims understand and accept the hadith and the virtues of Hajj well. They try to practice the teachings in the hadith, such as increasing worship, protecting themselves from immoral acts, and increasing spirituality during the Hajj. This shows the high awareness of Hajj pilgrims about carrying out the Hajj pilgrimage as well as possible. This research concludes that the congregation's acceptance of the hadith on the virtues of the Hajj is quite good, and they try to apply it in the implementation of the Hajj, so that this can contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of people's spiritual life.

Abstract

The urgency of the Prophet's hadith often clashes with practical politics, so its meaning is no longer independent and is more directed towards individual and group interests. Indirectly, there is a reduction in meaning and purpose, so it is important to research this matter. In this paper, the researcher examines the hadith of the Prophet saw on riwayah of Imam Muslim no. 1320 in Riyād al-Sālihīn, to answer at least two problem formulations; 1). What is the formal legal form of hadith Muslim narration no. 1320 in Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīnand 2). What is the form of politicization of hadith in practical political practice in the contemporary era. The method used is qualitative analysis, which is descriptive with a contextual-historical approach. The results of this study show that the hadith as the second holy text after the Qur'an has a strategic position in the belief of a Muslim and confirms the formal legal "prohibition" of politicizing hadith because it can urge the ralization of religious values.

Abstract

Gog and Magog are often the subject of speculation and give rise to various interpretations among scholars and the Muslim community. As a creature mentioned in the Qur'an and Hadith, the Gogg and Magog entity is necessary. However, an explanation of who they are, how they appear, and their traits that tend to be destructive still requires further research based on authentic Hadith. There are also quite a few who interpret Gogg and Magog as an attribute, not an attribute. Therefore, this research aims to determine the physical identification and characteristics of Gog and Magog through a review of the Hadith. The method used in this research is library research using a content analysis approach. The research results show that Gog and Magog have striking physical characteristics such as wide faces, small eyes, curly hair, and short bodies. Apart from that, they are also described as beings who are destructive, know no mercy, and cause great damage to the earth. This research emphasizes the importance of an in-depth understanding of related hadiths to provide further insight into the role and impact of Gog and Magog in the context of Islamic eschatology so that society can be more aware of social issues.
