Abstract

Reproductive health is a serious problem throughout human life. Vaginal discharge is one of the reproductive health problems of adolescents, especially one that women often complain about. Survey results show that 65% of teenage girls in Indonesia experience vaginal discharge. Self-esteem is an important component in forming a person's self-concept, where self-concept is an important thing in determining a person's behavior, including maintaining reproductive health. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and self-esteem and the behavior of female students in maintaining reproductive health in Islamic boarding schools in Batanghari Regency. This research is a correlative descriptive quantitative research with a cross-sectional, multi-centre research design involving 3 Islamic boarding schools in Batanghari Regency. Sampling used random sampling. The total sample was 98 respondents. The data analysis used includes univariate analysis (respondent characteristics, self-concept, self-esteem, student behavior), as well as bivariate analysis to measure the relationship between self-concept and self-esteem. The results of the research showed that 63.3% of respondents had poor female student behavior in maintaining reproductive health. There is a relationship between self-concept (p-value: 0.008), Self-Esteem (p-value: 0.006) and the behavior of female students in maintaining reproductive health. The research results showed that of the 56 respondents with a negative self-concept, 44 (74.6%) respondents had poor behavior among female students in maintaining reproductive health. Of the 39 respondents with positive self-concept, 18 (46.2%) respondents had good female behavior in maintaining reproductive health. Efforts are needed from Islamic boarding schools to conduct training and health promotion for female students in maintaining reproductive health regarding self-concept and self-esteem.

Abstract

Nationally, the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia in 2018 was 10.9 per mile, an increase compared to 2013 which was 7 per mile. Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability in the world. Two-thirds of stroke events occur in developing countries. Weakness and decreased muscle strength in stroke sufferers occur on one side of the limb, however, in the trunk muscles, weakness occurs on both sides, resulting in limited trunk rotation and difficulty in maintaining balance and gait). Propioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a physiotherapy intervention method that can be used to improve the quality of walking in stroke patients. This method can improve proprioceptor function by stimulating it in muscles and tendons. PNF also improves muscle strength, flexibility, and balance). Description of respondent data was carried out using univariate analysis to determine the frequency of age, weight, height, gender, paralyzed side and Wisconsin values ??before and after the intervention for both groups. Bivariate test to compare the average WGS value after treatment with before treatment in both the PNF group and the conventional group and compare the average difference between the PNF group and the conventional group. The average value of the difference before and after the intervention in the PNF group was 1.75 with a standard deviation of ± 0.463, while in the conventional group the average value of the difference before and after the intervention was 0.63 with a standard deviation of ± 0.518. Statistical tests using the Wilcoxon rink test between the two groups obtained a p-value of 0.024, which is smaller than 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the PNF intervention group and the Conventional intervention group.

Abstract

Final college students tend to lack physical activity accompanied by unhealthy lifestyles, this habit can disrupt body metabolism and potentially cause obesity. Obesity is a risk factor for various conditions including cardiorespiratory disorders. This is related to the accumulation of fat in the abdomen affecting the limitation of respiratory muscle performance. This study aims to determine the correlation between waist circumference and waist-hip ratio (WHR) with lung vital capacity in students. This observational study used a cross-sectional study with the proportionate stratified random sampling method on final-year students of Physiotherapy S1, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Data collection was done using anthropometric measurements of waist circumference and waist-hip ratio using Medline and lung vital capacity using a spirometer. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate with the Spearmen's Rho test. The study's results obtained 127 students, consisting of 37 men and 90 women. Waist circumference of 58,3% of normal subjects, waist-hip ratio of 77,2% normal, and lung vital capacity value of 79,8% of normal subjects. The results of the hypothesis test of this study showed no significant relationship between waist circumference and waist-hip ratio with lung vital capacity with a value of p> 0,05 (p = 0,091 and p = 0,341). The correlation test of waist circumference was negatively correlated but not significant (r = -0,151 & r = 0,085). As the negative correlation value states, the higher the waist circumference, the lower the lung vital capacity. In contrast, the waist-hip ratio did not correlate significantly with lung vital capacity. This study concludes that there is no relationship between waist circumference and waist-hip ratio with lung vital capacity.

Abstract

Asymptomatic forward head posture is a chronic condition without symptoms. Improvement in neck alignment can be enhanced by adding a pressure biofeedback unit to forward head exercises. The aim of this study was to determine if the addition of a pressure biofeedback unit to forward head exercises is more effective in improving neck alignment in high school students with asymptomatic forward head posture compared to forward head exercises alone. This study was conducted at SMA N 1 Semarapura in April-May 2021, using a two-group pre-post test design with simple random sampling. There were two groups consisting of 14 samples each. Group I was given forward head exercises with the addition of a pressure biofeedback unit, and Group II was given forward head exercises alone. The outcome measure for neck alignment was the craniovertebral angle, measured using a goniometer. Analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and Levene's test. The difference in mean neck alignment was tested using paired t-tests. An independent sample t-test showed an increased difference in neck alignment in both groups. In Group I, the mean pre-test score was 45.57±1.45 and the post-test neck alignment was 53.21±1.36, with a mean difference of 7.35±1.49 and a p-value of 0.000. In Group II, the pre-test score was 45.78±1.85 and the post-test score was 50.28±1.22, with a mean difference of 4.5±1.2 and a p-value of 0.000. A significant difference in neck alignment improvement was found based on the comparison test, with a p-value of 0.000. The study results indicate a significant difference in the improvement of neck alignment between the two groups. The addition of a pressure biofeedback unit to forward head exercises is effective in improving neck alignment in high school students with asymptomatic forward head posture at SMA N 1 Semarapura.

Abstract

Background: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a form of non-invasive brain stimulation with the capacity to modulate cortical excitability. Low-frequency TMS (1 Hz) inhibits regional brain activity and allows contralateral cortical excitability through modulation of interhemispheric inhibition. Until now, research on low-frequency TMS that shows its inhibition on regional brain and the possibility of contralateral cortical stimulation is still very limited and not widely known. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory effect of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in post-stroke patients. Methods: Literature review was conducted to identify all articles that discuss the use of low-frequency TMS to determine the inhibitory effect of post-stroke patients on non-lesion areas. Databases from Hindawi, PubMed, Science Direct, and Cochrane with research types of pilot studies and randomized controlled trials published in the last 10 years by entering the keywords “Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation”, “Inhibition”, and “Stroke”. The research was conducted by systematically collecting, processing, and analyzing data.
