Abstract

The health and well-being of infants throughout their lives are significantly influenced by adequate nutrition. Nutritional deficiencies, often associated with stunting, can negatively impact a child's physical growth, motor development, and cognitive abilities. Infants who receive complementary foods (MPASI) before 6 months of age are at higher risk of experiencing essential nutrient deficiencies. This study aims to determine the relationship between the history of MPASI provision under 6 months of age and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Lumpue Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. The method used was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The study population included all toddlers registered at the Lumpue Community Health Center in May 2025, totaling 97 children, with a sample size of 78 toddlers. The research instrument was a questionnaire, while data analysis used the chi-square test. The analysis results showed a p-value of 0.000, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Thus, there is a significant relationship between the provision of MPASI before 6 months of age and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. It is hoped that further research will be able to examine in more depth other factors such as the quality of complementary feeding, parenting patterns, and the role of health education in shaping the behavior of providing complementary feeding.

Abstract

Background: The smooth process of breast milk (ASI) production and secretion is often an obstacle for postpartum mothers, and this condition can affect the success of the exclusive breastfeeding program. One of the non-pharmacological approaches that can be applied to overcome this problem is by giving warm compresses to the breast areola area. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effect of warm compresses on breast milk secretion in postpartum mothers at the independent midwifery practice of Juliana. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model. A total of 35 postpartum mothers were selected as samples using purposive sampling techniques. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, hypothesis testing was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. Results: Before the intervention, all respondents (100%) experienced insufficient breast milk secretion. After applying warm compresses, 28 respondents (80%) showed improvement with smooth milk secretion. The Wilcoxon test yielded a value of Z = -5.292 and p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The administration of warm compresses proved to have a significant effect on improving breast milk secretion in postpartum mothers. This intervention can serve as a simple, effective, and easily applicable non-pharmacological alternative to support successful breastfeeding.

Abstract

During pregnancy, the mother's body undergoes postural changes as a form of adjustment to the increase in the weight of the uterus. Back pain experienced by pregnant women can hinder daily activities and cause discomfort that affects the mother's physical and emotional condition. Therefore, back pain in pregnant women needs to be treated as early as possible so that the health of the mother and fetus is maintained during pregnancy. Endorphin massage is a form of therapy performed through gentle and calming massage, which is very beneficial for pregnant women. This study is a quasi-experimental quantitative research design, using a pretest-posttest one-group design to examine the effect of endorphin massage on back pain in pregnant women at the Putri Ayu Community Health Center in Jambi City. The average pain score before intervention was 6.00, indicating a fairly high level of pain. After the endorphin massage intervention, there was a significant change in pain distribution to 2.27. The results of the study indicate that endorphin massage has a significant effect on reducing the intensity of back pain in pregnant women in the working area of the Putri Ayu Community Health Center, with a significance value (p = 0.000).

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is still a common health problem and can have serious impacts on the health of both the mother and the fetus. Iron deficiency is the main cause, thus effective prevention and management efforts are needed, either through supplementation or the intake of nutritious foods rich in iron. One natural food ingredient that has the potential to increase hemoglobin levels is red beans (Phaseolus vulgaris). The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of red bean preparations in increasing hemoglobin in pregnant women experiencing anemia at the Mars Clinic. The study used a Quasi-Experimental method with a One Group Pre Test Post Test approach. By using a total sampling technique, 17 respondents were obtained. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test showed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant effect of giving red bean porridge on the increase of hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. It is recommended that healthcare workers, especially midwives, promote the prevention and management of anemia by utilizing foods such as red beans.

Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are extraordinary physiological experiences but can also be a source of psychological stress for women, especially for primigravidas who have no previous experience. Fear of childbirth often arises from uncertainty about pain management, concerns about the fetus's condition, and a lack of adequate information. This condition results in increased stress, sleep disturbances, and even mild depression, which can affect the mother's physical and mental readiness for childbirth. This study aims to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on fear of childbirth in primigravida mothers. The type of research used is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest without a control group. The sample consisted of third-trimester primigravida pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria, using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention in the form of progressive muscle relaxation exercises was given for 2 weeks at a frequency of three times per week and independent practice at home. The research instruments used were the Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire (W-DEQ), a demographic and obstetric history questionnaire, and a compliance sheet. Data analysis used dependent and independent t-tests. The results showed a significant decrease in fear of childbirth scores after progressive muscle relaxation with a p-value of 0.001. In conclusion, progressive muscle relaxation training is effective in improving the physical and psychological readiness of primigravida mothers for childbirth. This study recommends that health workers, particularly midwives, integrate progressive muscle relaxation training as a non-pharmacological intervention in prenatal classes.
