Abstract

One of the classic and very unique traditions on the island of Madura is in the case of underage marriages and underhand marriages (not registered at KUA). This happened in one of the villages, namely Sanadaja Village, Pasean District, Pamekasan Regency. Underage marriage is a marriage where both the bride and groom are under the age range of 14-16 years for women and 15-19 years for men. The existence of the marriage above is due to the strong tradition that has existed since the past and continues to be preserved until modern times as it is today. In addition, religious figures such as kiai, bendoro (lora) and community leaders such as Kalebun (village head), Pangaseppo (traditional leaders) and bajingan (village thugs) are also very influential in maintaining the tradition and become a problem in itself which until now has not been able to be removed from the habits of the local community. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews and observations.

Abstract

Pandemi covid-19 dialami sejak merebak di Wuhan Desember 2019. Hingga  kini, jumlah terkonfirmasi covid-19 terus bertambah dan belum ada tanda-tanda pandemi akan berakhir. Indonesia berupaya menekan angka kasus aktif covid-19. Hingga tiba momentum dimana Indonesia kedatangan vaksin covid-19 dari produsen Sinovac asal Tiongkok. Wacana vaksinasi menjadi topik hangat di tengah masyarakat publik berharap vaksin dapat menghentikan pandemi covid-19. Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika turut memproduksi dan menyampaikan berita terkait vaksinasi covid-19 ke publik. Tidak hanya mengandalkan situs berita, Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika memanfaatkan media sosial Twitter agar distribusi informasi bisa cepat diakses oleh publik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui opini publik yang muncul pada unggahan Twitter sebagai ruang publik oleh media Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika terkait berita vaksinasi covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menetapkan unggahan berita akun Twitter Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika terkait berita vaksinasi covid-19 sebagai objek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa topik berita yang berkaitan dengan wacana vaksinasi covid-19 menjadi perhatian publik. Opini publik yang beragam bermunculan di berbagai media daring, termasuk Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika. Dengan sudut pandang berita yang bervariasi, Tirto, Tempo, dan Republika mampu menarik perhatian publik, tiap-tiap kolom reply unggahan berita vaksinasi oleh ketiga media daring tersebut memunculkan beragam tanggapan publik.

Abstract

This study discusses messages in government communications about vaccination campaigns. The object of research is the government's message in the vaccination campaign with the "halal" narrative. This study uses the discourse analysis of the Teun Van Dijk model. Discourse analysis looks at how text, sosial cognition and sosial context in a discourse are raised. Data collection in this study will go through the stages of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study reveal that the use of "halal" diction in vaccine campaigns in Indonesia is considered capable of building "public trust" so that public doubts about vaccination can be handled properly. Halal is a benchmark for Muslims in consuming various things, including vaccines. So that the use of "halal" in government campaigns is deemed right on target. However, it cannot be denied that in this case the word "halal" has been commodified, meaning "halal" has changed its function and meaning from its actual function.

Abstract

Gender discrimination causes inequality between men and women, which impacting women’s representation in America which has democratic values. This contradicting the equality aspect which causes difference between values held by America and reality that is happening. This research aims to determine the representation of women's discrimination shown by American television series as visual media. This research’s object is Cult, seventh season of American Horror Story series which discusses horrors and fears caused by discrimination. Television series was chosen as research’s object because its power and abiliy to reflect social reality and reach many audiences from various demographics. This research was conducted through collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data process, with documentation and observation methods, and uses Roland Barthes' Semiotics model because of its ability to reach signs that are close to social life and myths. Results showed that representation of Cult’s women character is a person who is limited in social reality, functionally and in role, which includes Marginalization, Subordination, Stereotypes, Violence, and Double Burden as the outcome. Women’s discrimination departs from America’s culture and gender construction which close to patriarchy and subordination. This research’s myth is that women's discrimination and gender inequality prevent them from fully contributing to American life.

Abstract

Traditional cloth is currently in a state of concern due to a lack of buying interest, which impacts many traditional cloth industries going out of business. On the other hand, many young people in Indonesia are not familiar with various types of traditional fabrics typical of the archipelago. This paper discusses the quality of the #BerkainGembira campaign message on the attitude of Generation Z Instagram Followers @swaraharga on the use of traditional cloth. This study uses a survey method with a questionnaire instrument. It uses a non-random sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with the criteria for followers of the Instagram account @swarahasil who belong to Generation Z, namely those born in 1995-2009 or aged 12 to 26 years with a total of 100 samples. The results showed that there was a strong relationship between the quality of the campaign message #BerkainGembira) and the attitude of Generation Z Instagram followers @swaraharga. The quality of the message of the #BerkainGembira Campaign, which includes aspects of message content and message structure, has an influence of 61.2% on Generation Z Instagram Followers @swaraharga, namely on the cognitive, affective, and conative aspects.

Abstract

With the creation of cyber media, nowadays almost everyone is able to do their own live broadcast. For example, today almost everyone is able to broadcast live through cyber media such as Instagram, Twitch, YouTube, Discord, and others. The fact is that today many people who work full-time and make a living are livestreamers or what can be called live broadcasters. One of the platforms that is widely used for live broadcasts is YouTube, actors who play a role in live broadcasts on YouTube are known as livestreamer youtubers. This phenomenon eventually created the term Virtual YouTuber (VTuber) or can be called a virtual YouTuber. This study aims to analyze Ayunda Risu's live broadcast. Virtual ethnography is a method used to investigate entities (users) on the internet and when these entities (users) explore when using the internet, there is a method that is able to describe this through the Cyber Media Analysis Method. Ayunda Risu's live broadcast content contains interesting and non-stale content and is monotonous to watch. So the findings from the Cyber Media Analysis on Ayunda Risu's Live Broadcast, it was found that when the Comivuro Virtual 1 and Comivuro Virtual 2 events were held, Ayunda Risu was able to replace humans as the master of ceremonies and grab the attention of the Japanese culture fandom in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pseudo-relationship that created by EXO-Ls as fans and audiences with their media character, EXO through social media Twitter, is called a parasocial relationship. Through social media Twitter, fans can find out a real-time information and can interact with EXO, where in parasocial relationships the effects are sense of companionship, personal identity, pathological attitudes, pseudo-friendship, and behavioral guidelines. This research aims to find out, describe and analyze how the effects of parasocial relationships that occur on EXO fans, namely EXO-L in the city of Samarinda on Twitter. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of purposive sampling to obtain maximum information and data. Using Hoffner's Parasocial theory and Horton and Wohl's Parasocial theory, the results of this study indicate that the effects of parasocial relationships that occur in EXO-L Samarinda on Twitter are sense of companionship, personal identity, pathological attitudes, pseudofriendship, and behavioral guidelines.

Abstract

Children are great imitators of those around them, so teachers as educators have an important role in teaching early childhood to be able to say good things. This research was conducted on teachers in Kindergarten of Tahfidz Ummul Quro at Banjarmasin using descriptive qualitative method. The results obtained are that teachers use three methods of communication in education, namely: Intrapersonal communication, by motivating themselves before learning begins; Interpersonal communication, invites children to say istighfar and give appreciation when children succeed in saying good words; Group communication by reading adzkar first before starting the lesson, inviting children to sing an angel's duty song that includes the need to say good things and songs about the function of the body's limbs, that is a mouth used to say good things. Anak adalah peniru ulung dari orang sekitarnya, sehingga guru sebagai pendidik memiliki peran penting dalam mengajarkan anak usia dini untuk dapat berkata yang baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada guru TK Tahfidz Ummul Quro Banjarmasin dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu guru melakukan tiga jenis komunikasi dalam pendidikan, yakni: Komunikasi intrapersonal, dengan memotivasi diri sebelum pembelajaran dimulai; Komunikasi interpersonal, mengajak anak untuk mengucap istighfar dan memberikan penghargaan ketika anak berhasil mengucapkan kata yang baik; Komunikasi kelompok dengan membaca adzkar terlebih dahulu sebelum memulai pembelajaran, mengajak anak menyanyikan lagu tugas malaikat yang menyelipkan tentang perlunya berkata baik dan lagu tentang fungsi anggota tubuh, yaitu mulut yang digunakan untuk mengucapkan hal baik.
