Abstract

Recently, the word "Anjay" which we often hear in circles has generated controversy. This incident started with a well-known YouTuber, Lutfi Agizal, who took issue with this word in one of the content he made, so that it finally went viral in the media. The pros and cons of society continue to emerge, giving rise to a very serious debate. According to Lutfi, the word "Anjay" is considered to have a dirty meaning. This is because the word is a play on the word "dog" which is often used to denigrate someone's dignity. The problem is whether the word reflects this meaning if it is not used with bad intentions. With a descriptive qualitative approach and the view of Public Space by Jurgen Habermas, the researcher tries to analyze this phenomenon so that a middle point can be found regarding good language in communicating on social media. This is intended so that the interaction and communication that takes place on social media can run well, and avoid conflicts due to differences in language interpretation

Abstract

This study discuss the barriers to intercultural communication experienced by students from East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur or NTT) while studying in Yogyakarta. This research starts from the condition of Yogyakarta as one of the destination for students from all over Indonesia to continue their educations, especially students from NTT. This research use qualitative descriptive as a method, data collected by interviewing the students from NTT and also collecting data from the media. The results indicate that the differences of language, habits, and perceptions made the barriers to intercultural communication for NTT students. In addition, the  stereotypes attached to NTT students such as troublemaker, came from underdeveloped area, and easily commit to criminal acts are the sources of gaps between NTT students and other people around them

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the multi-stakeholder synergy of AQUA Klaten's CSR in establishing a rescue program for the Pusur Sub-Regional water flows. This effort requires various parties to collaborate, setting a series of rescue programs from upstream to downstream of the Pusur River. This research was conducted in a qualitative approach through a case study method. The data were obtained from the results of observation, documentation, and interviews through purposive sampling technique. To obtain the final result, the researcher then analyzed the data by using a triangulated analysis of sources. The results of this study indicate that the multi-stakeholder synergy formed an organization called Pusur Institute, which encourage the establishment of integrated series on water sources saving programs. The success of this program depends on the responsibilities of each party. The formation of multi-stakeholder synergies can also reduce conflicts between companies and stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the communication network at Small and Medium Enterprises Tris Flower Jambangan Surabaya which has a waste recycling management process that is sorting raw materials, cleaning or washing, designing models, cutting materials and sewing. This study explains the process of forming a communication network that starts from two-way communication and then develops into reciprocal communication so that it can form a convergence communication model. This study uses a network analysis method, which aims to assist researchers in making a relationship map (mapping) through a matrix and sociogram. Through this sociogram we can know the role of the network including Components, Clicks, Bridges, Hubs, Cutpoints, Isolates. The results of this study are the roles that appear in the waste recycling processing network namely; (1) sorting raw materials there are roles of Clicks, Cutpoints, Bridges , and Hubs, (2) cleaning and washing, there is the role of Hubs, (3) designing models or designs there are roles of Clicks, Isolate, Cutpoints, and Hubs, (4) cutting of materials there is the role of Clicks, Cutpoints, and Hubs, (5) sewing there is the role of Isolate, and Hubs.

Abstract

Banyuwangi was once just the easternmost district in East Java Province. This district is famous as an area that has the science of black magic, which is a very deadly black science. But now appear skyrocketed into a tourist area that is very amazing. Many tourism potentials are developed, there are also many tourist visits and ultimately can increase the dignity and economy of the community. This study wanted to find out the effective cooperation pattern of the Banyuwangi Regional Government Tourism Office in developing tourism potential through festival activities, the media used and the obstacles faced. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The theory used is the theory of social exchange.The results showed that the pattern of effective cooperation was carried out by the Department of Tourism by internally dividing tasks with all local government task units related to festival activities, while externally cooperating with all communities, especially cultural communities. Furthermore, the Tourism Office also promotes through internet media, print media, and interpersonal communication media. The results of this study also indicate that the obstacles faced the dilemma between the effort to develop tourism potential and the teachings of Islam, the low mastery of public information technology and the divided support between the people in the south and the people in the north towards cultural products as a tourism potential. Keywords: Banyuwangi, Communication, Tourism

Abstract

Mahasiswa Thailand, yang sedang belajar di kota Jember mengalami banyak sekali hambatan komunikasi. Padahal faktor komunikasi sangat berpengaruh pada keberhasilan dalam proses belajar. Maka penelitian ini ingin mengetahui hambatan komunikasi antarbudaya dan bagimana memecahkan hambatan tersebut. Teori yang dipakai adalah teori yang berkenaan dengan hambatan komunikasi antarbudaya. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah deskriptifyang bersifat kualitatif, sedang yang menjadi informan adalah mahasiswa Thailand yang kuliahi Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa faktor bahasa menjadi kendala utama baik secara akademik maupun non akademik. Selanjutnya perbedaan budaya yang dapat berupa makanan, minuman, busaha dan etika komunikasi juga merupakan hambatan komunikasi antarbudaya.

Abstract

One important part of an organization is external publics such as customers. Holding some events/activities by organization to their publics is often a necessary things to do. PT Foody Direktori Indonesia is a restaurant directory service company in Indonesia that holds customer gathering activities. This research focused on the implementation of customer gathering acitivites conducted by PT Foody Direktori Indonesia. The objective of this research is to see how the implementation of customer gathering and also to see the obstacles and efforts in the implementation of gathering. To analyze the gathering activities,  this research use the concept from Dennis L. Wilcox of 8 stages public relations activities planning that contain situation, objectives, audience, strategy, tactics, calendar/timetable, budget, and evaluation. This research uses a qualitative method and interviews as the data collection technique. The result of this research is PT Foody Direktori Indonesia conducts their customer gathering activity  according to the 8 stages of public relations activites planning by Dennis L. Wilcox. From this research it was also found that PT Foody Direktori Indonesia have some obstacles during planning gathering activities and already have made an effort to resolve these obstacles.

Abstract

This paper aims to present about media literacy movements and education carried out by the Children's Media Development Foundation (YPMA) with a perspective on media political economy studies. YPMA was chosen as the object of research because it is widely known as an institution that concentrates and is consistent in the development of child literacy in Indonesia. This paper focuses on the strategy of movement and media literacy education carried out by YPMA during the period 2006 to 2016. The method used is qualitative with descriptive research type. It is known that YPMA has a target in every program implementation is at the age of children and adolescents. Therefore, YPMA devised several strategies such as socialization and campaigns through schools and other educational institutions, held training for teachers, and emphasized the involvement of parents as a significant other in media literacy education.Keyword: Media Literacy, YPMA, Political Economy,

Abstract

Masyarakat suku Madura selama ini dikenal memiliki kebudayaan dan adat-istiadat yang unik. Tradisi dan adat istiadat masyarakat Madura, sejauh ini terjaga dengan baik, bahkan tak luntur meski budaya modern gencar melanda kaum muda. Termasuk diantaranya “tradisi” pernikahan di bawah umur atau sering dikenal nikah dini. Tradisi nikah dini ini, dapat dijumpai di Desa Sanatengah, Kec. Pasean, Kab. Pamekasan. Kasus pernikahan dini di desa ini tetap bertahan hingga kini. Itu tidak terlepas dari pengaruh pemuka pendapat yang mampu mempertahankan keberlangsungan adat-istiadat di desa tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji secara mendalam hubungan keberlangsungan pernikahan dini dengan pengaruh pemuka pendapat yang setiap pendapatnya menjadi panutan masyarakat setempat, sehingga tradisi yang ada tetap terjaga eksistenasinya. Penelitian dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif ini, menekankan pada pendekatan interaksionalisme simbolik, terutama pada dimensi fenomenologi. Kata Kunci: Peran Pemuka Pendapat, Pernikahan Dini

Abstract

Film “Alangkah Lucunya (Negeri Ini)” adalah sebuah film karya Deddy Mizwar yang mencerminkan realitas social yang ada di dalam kehidupan masyarakat di negeri ini. Kelompok kami memilih film ini karena beberapa alasan, salah satu alasan pemilihan film ini sebagai analisis film yang akan dikaitkan dengan sistem komunikasi yang ada di Indonesia adalah karena di dalam film ini terkandung berbagai macam makna kehidupan mulai dari makna religi, nasionalisme, kehidupan sosial, serta pendidikan untuk memilih mana yang baik atau benar dan yang mana yang salah. Di era yang sudah berkembang seperti ini, menyampaikan nilai-nilai yang bermakna pendidikan bisa disampaikan melaui media-media yang sudah modern dimana cara penyampaiannya secara luas dengan waktu yang singkat seperti melalui internet, televisi, radio, koran dan lain-lain yang sifatnya media massa. Nilai pendidikan dikemas dengan cara yang menyenangkan melalui musik, film, pentas drama, dan lain-lain sehingga mampu diterima untuk berbagai kalangan dan berbagai umur. Peneliti menganalisa disetiap adegan yang mengandung unsur pendidikan dalam film “Alangkah Lucunya Negeri Ini” mulai dari pendidikan sosial, pendidikan agama, pendidikan poilitik dan lain sebagainya.
