Abstract

Waste is one of the many social problems faced by the community. To solve the problem of waste required a technology to process waste itself. Several studies have been done, one of which is design and construction thrasher machine. There are several studies on the design and construction thrasher machine. However, the analysis was conducted on one type of thrasher machine with a particular waste material. This study aims to obtain the results of the efficiency analysis of the thrasher machine results on the type of thrasher machine and waste material. The method used is experimental method. The type of thrasher machine and waste material used as a free variable. The percentage of the chopping result is chosen as a variable depending on the speed of rotation and thrasher time as the companion variable. The results of this study based on the results of experiments, both qualitatively and quantitatively shows that plastic bottle trash has a suit with shear type, grass litter has a match with the type of swing and trash has a match with the type of crusher.

Abstract

Vibration measurement technology using conventional sensors such as piezoelectric (PZT) Accelerometer is still expensive. Currently, many low-cost vibration measuring devices have been developed by using Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology. This study aims to analyze the results of vibration measurement system MEMS Accelerometer ADXL345 with PZT Accelerometer. This research applies design and develop approach with comparative data analysis technique, that is comparing data of result of measurement of MEMS Accelerometer ADXL345 to PZT Accelerometer Vibroport80. The construction comprises the ADXL345 sensor connected to the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller operated by Widows operating system and programming language Arduino IDE 1.08. Testing of measurements at Bearing speeds of 500, 1000, and 1500 RPM with length of time measurements at 5, 10, and 20 seconds respectively. The analysis of the test results shows that the MEMS Accelerometer ADXL345 of vibration measurement system can measure, process and display vibration measurement data larger 3% than PZT Accelerometer and can provide the best measurement accuracy at 20 seconds measurement length of time.

Abstract

This study looked at the effect of severed EDM process parameters on the optimum value of titanium alloy hardness. this study uses Design Expert 9.0 software to help develop an experimental plan of response surface method models and CCD. The machine used is Hitachi Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) brand with Series H-DS02-S. Material used titanium 6Al-4V. Electrode used copper (Cu). The process parameters used are Current (A), On time (?s) and Off time (?s). Coolant fluid using Hydroseal 63H. The results of data processing there are 20 experiments. This research shows optimum machining condition for hardness (HV) is 322. Analysis of variance (Anova) shows the value of F arithmetic is 3,94, MSE is 0,022 and p (0,0794). The increase of current and on-time values ??gives a great influence on surface roughness. The increase of Off time value does not give significant effect to the roughness. The next research will be done with 5 (five) process parameters, Current, On time, Off time, Machining Voltage and Servo feed.

Abstract

Lathe is a tool that rotates the work-piece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation, facing, turning, with tools that are applied to the work-piece to create an object with symmetry about that axis. There are several considerations that affect the lathe to work well, especially geometrical deviations that affect the quality degradation of the product in terms of shape and dimensions. One of the wear on the slide-way of the lathe can affect geometric aberrations. This paper discusses the design and manufacture of grinding tools to fix the lathes bed that can erode three slide-way planes in a single process to achieve flatness and square alignment with one another. The research method used is the experimental method by collecting the data needed to design the tool through literature study and direct observation to the lathe, then the data is processed to obtain the specification of the tool that will be designed by design method based on Verien Deutche Ingenieuer (VDI) 222 , the design result is then continued with the machining and fabrication process; before assembling, parts of the auxiliary equipment are tested in accordance with the design function indicator; the last stage is testing the tool as a whole to know the achievement of the tool against a predetermined goal. Based on the results of the grinding experiment on the three slideway planes with a feed depth of 0.03mm, the average flatness and alignment values ??are 0.02mm / 300mm and 0.07mm / 300mm, respectively. Based on the ISO 1708 standard on the tolerance of geometrical deviations, the grinding results have not allowed the tolerance. Still need more research about the influence of wear of grinding wheels to the grinding results.

Abstract

The design of the press tool is one of the practice courses that teach the skill in designing tool forming and cutting the product from the plate. The quality of the design is determined by the ability to apply the design procedure. Competence is widely applied in the design of drawing prints with a certain level of product complexity. Practice activity of designing drawing drawing of students of Engineering Design Program of Mechanical Polytechnic of State of Bangka Belitung done conventionally, where only using drawing table or computerized depiction software then printed on drawing paper. This results in frequent errors in student design drawings. To overcome these problems required drawing prints that can form a specific product such as ashtrays, with the aim of producing a construction drawing print that can be applied and utilized in the teaching of press tool design. The method of making this tool consists of data collection, concept making, tool design, machining & testing. Based on the results of trials that have been done, carried out on 10 blank by using a lubricant in the form of vegetable oil. Of the 10 experiments the formation showed that the central pool of ashtrays can be perfectly formed, while 4 pieces of the grooves on the ear of the ashtray have not been formed well where there are still folds or curves that are not regular.

Abstract

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is one of the methods used for multirespon optimization in the manufacturing process. In this research, the material used is Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite material which is stacked with stainless steel material. The machining process used is a drilling process conducted on a vertical CNC machine Brother TC-22A-O. The thrust force and torque is the response used to evaluate the performance of the drilling process. The quality characteristics of this response "the smaller the better". The aim of this study was to identify the combination of process parameters to achieve the performance characteristics required in drilling process the GFRP-SS material using Particle Swarm Optimization methode (PSO). The three process parameters i.e. point angle, spindle speed, and feeding speed is used as a process parameter. Point angle was set at two different levels, while the other two were set at three different levels. Therefore, the 2 x 3 x 3 factorial is used as the experimental design. The experiments were replicated two times. The minimum thrust force and torque could be obtained by using point angle, spindle speed, and feeding speed are 118o, 2330 rpm, and 65 mm/minrespectively.

Abstract

The correct function of helmets is to protect motorcycle riders from head injuries during accident and head collision. Most of helmets existing in markets are produced by helmet factories. The price of used materials is quite high because those materials are still imported from overseas. It causes the increasing of helmet production cost and the helmet prices in the market become quite expensive. This research aims to find how a biocomposite material (85 % PP, 10 % husk of rice and 5 % MAPP) can be used as an alternative replacement material for helmet lid preparation on the condition of passing the SNI standar test, namely the penetration test. The testing process is carried out by using the test tools referring to SNI 181-2007. The results of penetration test with thickness of 4 mm showed that the speciment can not be penetrated by indenter in accordance with the requirements of SNI 1811-2007. So that the testing can be used as a reference for alternative materials to make a standard helmet lid.

Abstract

The development of technology in the manufacturing sector is very fast, the market demand is diverse will the needs of products and components with complex shapes and high level of precision and hardness of material that has high strength. High degree of hardness and precision are widely used nonconventional EDM machine sinking. the electrode wear rate (LKE) and surface roughness (KP) are at least the performance of the EDM sinking machine process to be achieved. The study was conducted to determine the contribution of process parameters in order to reduce the variation of response parameters simultaneously and to determine the appropriate process parameter setting value. Parameters varied current, on time, off time and machining voltage. This research uses experimental design from Response Surface Methodology (RSM) method. And obtained the most refined Ra roughness results on Ton 100 µs, and Toff 15 µs with 10 A Ampere, and the roughest Ra roughness is obtained at Ton 300 µs, and Toff 15 µs with Ampere 20 A.

Abstract

The recondition of the Aciera f3/07 milling machine has been done to restore the machine condition to be ready for use. The machine was damaged and caused the machine to be unable to operate and made electrical and mechanical components fail. The feasibility of the machine is tested to see the achievement of the purpose of machine reconditioning. This paper aims to see the results of the geometric testing of the machine compared with the results of running test and the vibration measurement of the machine parts. This study uses an experimental method, where damage to the machine will be identified and the damage will be immediately carried out repairs or replacement of spare parts. Furthermore, machine performance was testing including machine geometry testing, vibration testing and running test in accordance with ISO-1708 standards. The test results show that there is no significant differencebetween the results of the geometric precision testing of the machine on vibration testing and road testing. This can indicate that all three tests can be used as a reference in validating the results of machine repair, especially repairing irregularities in the geometric accuracy of the Aciera F3 milling machine.

Abstract

The development of industrial in the utilization of composites as a substitute of metal materials that are used is fiberglass. However, fiberglass is considered not environmentally friendly because difficult to decipher. The technology advances, it is now widely used from composite materials with natural fibers.This research was conducted to obtain data about mechanical ability in the tensile strength, impact strength and physical form of Gaharu skin fibers using polyester matrix BQTN 157 with volume fraction variations made by hand lay-up method. This research is expected to be useful in automotive, manufacturing industry and household appliances are environmentally friendly. The maximum value of tensile strength is 34.574 MPa in 45% fiber volume fraction. However, there is a decrease in the tensile strength value in the 50% fiber volume fraction, which is 22,635 MPa, this is due to the large amount of fiber content so that the matrix spread to the fiber is uneven. The maximum impact strength value is 62.76 kJ / m2 at 50% fiber volume percentage. Based on the results of testing the comparison of the fiber and matrix volume fractions greatly affect the tensile strength and impact. The results show tensile and impact tests have met the plastic standards used car dashboards.
