Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of daily body weight gain (PBBH) in mice given feed containing commercial feed mix maggot flour. The material used in the study was 60 mice that were not differentiated by gender. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with unidirectional pattern. The provision of maggot flour in commercial feed was divided into four types of treatment. Each treatment level received three replications, with each replication consisting of 5 mice. If there was an influence on the treatment, the Duncan Multiple Range Test was performed. The followings were the treatments used in the study: P0: 100% commercial feed without maggot flour, P1: commercial feed 95% + 5% maggot flour, P2: commercial feed 90% + 10% maggot flour, P3: commercial feed 85% + 15% maggot flour. The research lasted for approximately 30 days, starting from September 4 to October 6, 2020, at the Basic Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Islamic University of Lamongan. The results showed a significant effect between treatments (P <0.05) and (P <0.01). The best treatment resulted in the increase of daily body weight gain (PBBH) was P1 (0.35 gr / head / day ± 0.10), P0 (0.29 gr / head / day ± 0.05), P3 (0.20 gr / head / day ± 0.08) , P2 (0.10 gr / head / day ± 0.05). This study concludes that the application of mixed maggot flour as feed to the growth of mice's body weight is the addition of 95% of commercial feed and 5% of maggot flour.

Abstract

This study used the AUDI’s technology application with repair rations, aimed at increasing the productivity of Arab’s hens in the 2 nd phase. The repair ration is focused on the addition of calcium minerals. AUDI technology is a combination of water filtering technology with extract beluntas (Pluchea indica L.). The research used seventy two Arab’s hen with homogenous body weight. The study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments, 6 replications, each replication consisting of 3 chickens. The research was conducted in 6 weeks of treatment. The parameters measured in this study were ration consumption, calcium consumption, hen day production (HDP), eggshell weight, and thickness. The results showed that the use of AUDI technology on rations significantly improved (p <0.05) affected ration consumption, calcium consumption, and increased hen day production (HDP), but did not affect weight, and thickness of an eggshell. Feed intake and calcium consumption significantly influenced by differences in calcium and crude protein in the rations. Based on these results, it was found that the use of AUDI technology was able to shorten the clutch cycle in laying hens so that production still reached 60-70% equivalent with phase I. Weight and thickness of eggshells were not affected by the use of AUDI technology and improved rations because the hens used as subject had reached peak production.

Abstract

The breeders' knowledge of the suitability of the breeding environment for cattle breeds may increase livestock productivity. Determining the differences in microclimate environmental conditions, physiological responses, and production capabilities of Bali and Limousine crossbred cattle raised at different altitudes in Sinjai Regency were the aim of this study. The research was carried out on people's farms in Sinjai, which were divided into three locations based on the height of different rearing places; low areas (0-100 masl) were represented by East Sinjai sub-district, South Sinjai sub-district for medium plains areas (100-400 masl), and highland areas (>400 masl) were represented by West Sinjai sub-district. The selection was based on the height of the place and beef cattle business in the area. The materials used were 30 Balinese cattle and 24 Limousine hybrids. This research was conducted from July to September 2020. The method of the research used direct observation in the field. Data collection used the method of direct observation in the field. The parameters observed were; microclimate conditions, physiological responses, and beef cattle production capabilities. The research found that the altitude of keeping Bali cattle and Limousine breeding affected the microclimate conditions such as air temperature and humidity in the highlands. The air temperature is lower in the highlands but the humidity is higher than the lowlands. Besides, on the physiological response parameters, the altitude effected on the Limousine hybrid as well as respiratory frequency and pulse rate of Bali cattle. Respiratory and pulse rates are lower at high altitudes. The height of the breeding ground also affected the height of the Bali cattle, and the chest circumference of the Limousine hybrid.

Abstract

Milk sticks are one of the dairy products that are served in the form of snacks. One of the ingredients added in making milk sticks is wheat flour which has a high amylose content. It causes the resulting milk sticks to be less crunchy. It is necessary to substitute flour with low amylose content, namely mocaf (Modified Cassava Flour). This research objective was to determine the effect of mocaf on the level of crispness and organoleptic quality of milk sticks. Milk sticks was made in animal science laboratory UNISKA Kediri by adding different percentage of flour: P0 (100% wheat flour), P1 (90% wheat flour and 10% mocaf), P2 (80% wheat flour and 20% mocaf), P3 (70% wheat flour and 30% mocaf), and P4 (60% wheat flour and 40% mocaf) in six replications. This research using completely randomized design (CRD). These results indicated that the substitution of mocaf in the manufacture of milk sticks could reduce the moisture content of the milk sticks so that the substitution of mocaf could increase the crispness. The organoleptic assessment was carried out on the parameters of color, taste, and crispness. There were no significant differences between the color and taste parameters, while the crispness showed that P0 was not significantly different from P1, but it was significantly different from P2, P3, and P4.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the response of adding ginseng leaf supplements (Talinum Paniculatum Gaertn) to the diet on the introduction of meat products, including dietary intake, body weight gain and dietary transformation in broilers. The subjects of the study were 100 broilers with five treatments and four replicates grown from DOC for 33 days. A control treatment was a 100% mixed diet (A), and B was a mixed died with 0.5% ginseng leaf mixture supplement. Treatment C was a mixed died with 1% ginseng leaf mixture supplement, with 1.5% ginseng leaf mixture supplement (D treatment), and with 2% additive to the ginseng leaf mixture (E treatment). The blended diet consisted of corn, palm meal, soybean meal, fishmeal, oil, and top mix. The variables measured were diet intake, weight gain, and diet conversion. The research method used an experiment with a completely randomized design. The results showed that the addition of the ginseng leaf meal feed additive to the diet had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on dietary intake, body weight gain, and diet conversion. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of up to 2% of the ginseng leaf meal feed additive to the diet did not negatively affect the appearance of the product and broilers.

Abstract

Fluctuating climatic and transportation conditions in Indonesia cause problems in the storage of feed ingredients. Estimating the shelf life of feed ingredients is very important to know in order to help the feed industry in the storage, availability and maintenance of the quality of the feed produced. The purpose of this study was to determine the shelf life of pollard and wheat bran at different storage temperatures based on the value of the peroxide number using the Arrhenius model. In determining shelf life, pollard and wheat bran were stored at 15, 35, and 45°C for 49 days. The parameter used in this research is the peroxide number. The results of this study were based on the calculation of the Arrhenius model in pollard based on the number of peroxides at a temperature of 15, 35 and 45 °C, the shelf life of which was 27.3 months, 22.2 months and 13.1 months, respectively. The shelf life of wheat bran is 25.1 months, 15.1 months and 14.8 months. The conclusion is that the temperature and storage time are directly proportional to the peroxide number. Meanwhile, temperature and storage time are inversely proportional to shelf life.

Abstract

This research which aims to determine the effect of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations in the fermentation diet on growth of broiler has done in Takengon, Central Aceh District from August until October 2020. This research used 160 chicks strain Cobb 89 produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand. This study used a complete randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations were: 0% (A), 0.1% (B), 0.2%(C), 0.3%(D). Parameters observed were achievement of final weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion, and feed efficiency. Data was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test if significant effect was detected. The result showed that the differences in supplementation of probiotic and Acidifiers effected significantly (P <0.05) on the final weight, weight gain, feed conversion and feed efficiency. However, there was no significant effect on rate of consumption. The result of present study showed that the combination of probiotic and Acidifier had a best impact on broiler growth and it was also decreased mortality of chicken.

Abstract

Cats are animals that are widely kept by the people of Indonesia. Both domesticated and feral cats can be attacked by ectoparasites. Ectoparasites that attacks cats are ticks, mites, fleas and fleas. Ectoparasites can breed well if the sanitation and cleanliness of the cat's cage is not maintained. Data collection was carried out for one month from February 1st - 28th  2021 .Ectoparasite samples were taken directly from every cat that came to RSHP. The results of the examination showed that 27 cats were positively infected with ectoparasites from 29 cats that had the potential to be infected with ectoparasites. The prevalence of ectoparasite infestation in domestic cats that came to RSHP was 93,1%. A total of 27 cats were infested with ectoparasites consisting of 2 Rhipicephalus sanguineus fleas, 11 Felicola subrostratus fleas, two Sarcoptes scabiei infection mites, 14 infectious mites Otodectes cynotis and infection mites. Ctenocephalides felis as many as 7 tails. One individual cat may be more affected than one type of ectoparasite. The calculation of the prevalence of ectoparasites in cats observed was 93,1%, which consisted of the prevalence of Sarcoptes scabiei infestation 6,89%, Otodectes cynotis 48,27%, Ctenocephalides felis 24,13%, Ripicephalus sanguineus 6,89% and Felicola subrostratus 37,93 %. The presence of ectoparasites can be minimized by always maintaining cleanliness and routine caring for cats.

Abstract

One of the comestibles that have high nutritional value and are easy to obtain is chicken. The higher demand for chicken must be accompanied by an increase in production. It is important for the breeder of broiler chicken to choose high quality Day Old Chick (DOC) from the broiler breeder which also has high quality and productivity. The type of broiler breeder that is grown in PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi is Ross 308. Observations were made when the chickens were 18th to 21st weeks old in 6 henneries totaling about 10,000 chickens. The performance of broiler breeder observed were feed consumption, bodyweight gain, feed conversion ratio, and uniformity. Feed consumption of broiler breeder at 18th to 21st week was 659.4 g/chicken, 700,583 g/chicken, 742,116 g/chicken, 767.2 g/chicken. Bodyweight gain at 18th to 21st week was 143.51 g/chicken, 193.3 g/chicken, 63.43 g/chicken, 167.96 g/chicken. Feed conversion ratio at 18th to 21st week was 4.5, 3.6, 11.6, 4.5. The uniformity at 18th to 21st week was 77%, 81%, 81%, 81%. In conclusion, the value of feed consumption for broiler breeder at PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi was increasing every week. Bodyweight gain at 20th week was lower than 18th, 19th, and 21st week. The value of feed conversion ratio at 20th week was higher than at 18th, 19th, and 21st week. Chicken uniformity value at 18th week was not good it was at 77%, while at the 19th, 20th, and 21st week it was quite good at 81%.

Abstract

The need for equestrian sport is increasing for local horse grading with Thoroughbred horses used for racehorses. Pamulang Equestrian Centre is one of the horse farms in Indonesia that acts as a pioneer in creating local Indonesian racehorses. The purpose of this paper is to explain the reproductive performance of the Indonesian Kuda Pacu Indonesia (KPI) through a case study at Pamulang Equestrian Centre. Primary data was obtained directly from the documentation and interviews of the farmers. Meanwhile, secondary data was collected from literature studies. Horse farming at Pamulang Equestrian Centre was the result of breeding horses G3 with G3, G3 with G4, G4 with G4, G3 or G4 with KPI that produced KPI. Horse breeding was carried out annually during the breeding season, from August to January. The reproductive performance of male and female KPI at Pamulang Equestrian Centre was mating time from August to January, at the age of first estrus was 12-15 months, the first mating age was 4 years, estrus duration was 7 days, and duration of gestation was approximately 11 Months.
