Abstract

P Americana Mill contains some phytochemicals such as phenols, saponins, and flavonoids which have beneficial effect on meat quality of broiler chicken.  The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of inclusion of avocado seed flour (ASF) in basal diet on meat quality of broiler chickens. A total of 80 broiler chicks of Cobb- strain were randomly assigned with following treatments: T0 (basal ration without ASF as the control), T1 (inclusion of 5% ASF in l diet), T2 (inclusion of 10% ASF in diet) and T3 (inclusion of 15% ASF in diet) and were kept for 5 weeks.  The parameters measured were meat pH, cooking loses after slaughtering and water holding capacity. The completely randomized design was used in this experiment with 4 treatments and 5 replicates.  The result showed that the inclusion of ASF significantly (P<0.01) decreased the meat pH and cooking loses after slaughtering but significantly increased (P>0.01) water holding capacity.  It is concluded that the best level inclusion of ASF in broiler diet in order to improve the physical quality of broiler’s meat is 15%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the prevalence and identification of gastrointestinal helminthiasis in beef cattle in Lamongan Regency. The subjects in this study were 100 cow feces divided per district as many as 20 cow feces, saturated sugar solution, PAM water, Aquadest, and 10% formalin. The stool examination was carried out using three methods as native, sedimentation, and floatation techniques. The result was positive if the analysis on the microscope shows worm eggs in beef cattle feces. The data in this study was presented in quantitative descriptive by calculating the numbers of prevalence. The results showed that the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminthiasis in beef cattle in Lamongan Regency was 24%. In Kedungpring District, it was 25%, and Paciran District was 15%, Sukodadi District was 20%, Mantup District by 20%, and Tikung District by 40%. This study concluded that the prevalence rate in Lamongan Regency was 24%. This figure tended to be high because taking the feces was done in the rainy season with high humidity, which was a factor in the high incidence of helminthiasis. Treatment of worms has not been carried out routinely by breeders, and the drums' hygiene was still not right; it was still traditional.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the ability of spermatozoa cells to maintain the use of a yolk citrate (YC) diluent with the addition of palmyra palm juice during preservation. The material used for this research was 2 Sumba Ongole bulls as a source of semen. Semen was collected by using an artificial vagina that is processed twice a week. The obtained semen was macroscopically analyzed, including volume, colour, consistency, pH and smell. Meanwhile, microscopic evaluation includes mass movement, motility, concentration, viability and abnormalities. The semen showed >75% motile sperm divided into four treatments and dilute each with YC (P0), 95% YC+5% palmyra palm juice (PPJ) (P1), 90% YC+10% PPJ (P2), 85% YC+15% PPJ  and each was stored at 3-50C. The results of statistical analysis showed that P0, P1 treatments were significantly different (P<0.05) between P2, P3 from day 0 to day 4 of storage. The addition of palmyra palm did not affect the motility of spermatozoa, but had a positive effect on the viability of spermatozoa with the addition of 5% palm sap during storage for 4 days at a temperature of 3-5 0C.

Abstract

Cases of clinical reproduction in crossbred cattle have been reported with the incidence of decreased reproductive performance. Crossbreeding resistance is usually followed by low immunity. Blood profile is one of the parameters that illustrate the immunity of livestocks. Goat crossbreeding resistance has never been studied. The purpose of this study was to analyze the crossbreeding resistance of the F1 BoerPE goat and her mothers by analyzing their blood profile. F1 BoerPE goat is the offspring of crossbreeding between Boer buck with PE goat. The research method was case study. The primary data were obtained from examination of blood profile and Physiological Status of F1 BoerPE goat and her mothers. The secondary data obtained from recording age and body weight. The blood profile data were analyzed by t test. The observed blood profile indicators were neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes. The results showed that the  physiological status of F1 BoerPE goat and her mothers was not significant. Nevertheless, the number of neutrophils, lymphocytes and monocytes was significantly different (p˂0.01). The average (%) number of neutrophils, lymphocytes and monocytes of PE goats was 37.92 ± 1.37; 51.85 ± 1.4; 3.87 ± 0.21. while the average blood profile of F1 BoerPE was 46.16 ± 2.1; 58.06 ± 3.4; 5.51 ± 0.18. The average number of neutrophils, lymphocytes and monocytes F1 BoerPE goat was higher compared to the parent. It is indicated that there were crossbreeding resistance of F1 BoerPE goat.
