Abstract

This Scrabble-based Arabic learning model basically is an attempt held by teacher in order that student can develop vocabulary, and having competence in active learning i.e. to learn to express himself both as individual or group. According to writer’s observation on Arabic learning in schools including MI Sultan Agung, the learning doesn’t make student as active learner yet. Furthermore, the teacher considers student as an object in teaching and learning process. It is expected from this Scrabble-based Arabic learning model that student can develop vocabulary competence more actively so that they can master Arabic both in spoken and written, and it also can be useful for his/her life in future.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery in a language greatly influences a person's ability to use the language both receptively and productively. Likewise in Arabic, this paper aims to find out the mastery of Arabic vocabulary in class VII B students with the singing method. This type of research is a field research using PTK (Classroom Action Research) design, with a cycle model. Data collection techniques include pretest, posttest, and observation of students' attitudes toward the learning process. While the data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results of data analysis show that the learning process with singing methods can improve students' Arabic vocabulary. This is evidenced in the results of observations and the learning process with the singing method, both in pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II, which is very enjoyable for students. Student activity in classroom learning is memorizing Arabic vocabulary (mufradat) on average 28.2 words (49.47%) on pre-cycle, increasing to 36 words (63.16%) in cycle I and increasing significantly to 48, 8 words (85.61%) in cycle II. Abstract

One of the objectives of teaching Arabic is to improve students' speaking skills. This purpose is to express the skill of speech and the way it is taught. In this case, the researcher wants to know the conditions related to the skill of speech, especially with regard to the way it is taught. The most appropriate model for the description process is the pendekatan kualitatif method, by means of the thesis or the case design. From this research it is known that the teaching of speech skill uses several direct method or oral auditory method of the communicative input. It is difficult to define a detailed definition of both methods, if the term "direct" is simply a sign of meaning, but that term does not refer to the meaning of the meaning of the method mentioned. Abstract

Every language has its own structure and feature. Structure has language patterns that form their own feature and uniqueness. Language universality theory sees that all languages in this world have their own uniqueness as well as similar feature or characteristic for all languages. The different and similar character is studied by contrastive analysis so that students’ language mistakes can be predicted. In turn, the mistakes that caused by mother tongue usage influence can be fixed. The analysis result is used to accomplished students language skill. Furthermore, the aim is to help students to realize language mistakes so that students can master their learned language in shorter time. The contrastive analysis focuses on surface language such as phonology, morphology, and syntax because language is easily compared in this area. By mastering this knowledge, teacher will hold learning that emphasizes on differences between those two languages rather than the similarities.

Abstract

Arabic Language is a tool to understand the Qur'an and Hadith. This is one of the reasons that pushes Muslims to learn Arabic. Many Islamic schools are paying attention to the teaching of the Arabic language which starts from elementary school to university level. Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor is one of the educational institutions in Indonesia that pays attention to the teaching of Arabic, therefore Gontor is known as the oldest educational institution in teaching the Arabic language since it was established in 1926. As it says in the name, Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor is a modern Islamic educational institution, because in terms of Arabic teaching, they have been using direct method. Direct method is a method that corresponds to the nature of the language, i.e. listening to and then speaking in the language. This method relies on the student development with many exercises in listening, simulation, and communication so as to pronounce in Arabic automatically. This method shows its success in teaching Arabic in Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Therefore the author wants to discuss these questions; 1) What is meant by direct method? 2) What is the effect of the direct method in Arabic teaching? 3) How is the application of direct method in teaching Arabic in Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor?

Abstract

This study aims to compare the two KKNI-based Arabic Language Education curricula between PBA UIN Malang and PBA UMY. This type of research is field research which is located in PBA UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and PBA Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Data collection methods using observation, interviews and documentation and data analysis are qualitative. The results of the study show that there are several similarities and differences between the two curricula which are reflected in the curriculum preparation, implementation and evaluation and also found the advantages that are characteristic of each. In addition, there are still some shortcomings because it is indeed a new curriculum that needs to be refined. We hope that this work can be used as a reference as well as learning material for other Arabic Language Education study programs in developing an IQF-based curriculum.

Abstract

Abstract This article discusses the elements of language and language skills, specifically the elements of mufradat and qowā’id as well as the skill in writing Arabic (al-maharah al-kitabah). The present study aims to prove the theory of the importance of language element in language skill, i.e. the correlational relationship of the mastery of mufradat and qowā’id with the ability to write in Arabic of grade X students of MAN 1 Sleman Yogyakarta majoring in Religion in the academic year of 2016/2017. This is a quantitative descriptive study that uses the said students as the subjects. There are 27 students involved in this study who show that: 1) The average score of mufradat mastery of the students is 75.74. This score is including in the category of average. 2) The average score of qowā’id ability of the students is 42.74 which is including in the category of average. 3) The average score of the kitabah ability of the students is 64.81 which is including in the average category. 4) The result of r calculation referring to the Correlation Coefficient (R) regression formula shows the value of 0.800. The value significance obtained is (0.000). Thus, it could be interpreted that between the mastery of mufradat and qowā’id simultaneously with the ability to write Arabic of the students shows a positive and significant correlational relationship. Keywords: Correlational, Mastery of Mufradat, Qawaid and Kitabah Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang unsur bahasa dan keterampilan berbahasa, lebih tepatnya unsur mufrādat dan qawā’id serta keterampilan menulis Arab (al-Mahārah al-Kitābah). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan teori yang mengatakan pentingnya unsur bahasa dalam keterampilan berbahasa, yakni tentang hubungan korelasional penguasaan Mufrādat dan qawā’id dengan kemampuan menulis Arab siswa kelas X Agama MAN 1 Sleman Yogyakarta pada tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan bersifat kuantitatif deskriptif dengan menjadikan siswa kelas X IIK MAN 1 Sleman Yogyakarta sebagai subyek sekaligus sampel penelitian dengan jumlah sebanyak 27 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Nilai rata-rata penguasaan Mufrādat siswa sebesar 75,74. Nilai tersebut termasuk dalam kategori sedang atau cukup. 2) Nilai rata-rata kemampuan Qawā’id siswa sebesar 42,74, termasuk dalam kategori sedang atau cukup. 3) Nilai rata-rata kemampuan Kitabah siswa sebesar 64,81. Nilai tersebut termasuk dalam kategori sedang atau cukup. 4) Hasil perhitungan r mengacu pada nilai koefisien korelasi (R) rumus regresi menunjukan nilai yang diperoleh sebesar 0,800. Kemudian nilai signifikansi diperoleh sebesar (0,000). Maka dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa antara penguasaan Mufrādat dan qowā’id secara bersamaan dengan kemampuan menulis bahasa Arab siswa kelas X IIK MAN 1 Sleman Yogyakarta terdapat hubungan korelasional yang positif dan signifikan. Abstract

The art of writing or calligraphy or better known in Arabic as khat has given a touch of art in learning Arabic. This article describes teaching Arabic with calligraphy. This media is proven to be a stimulant and a tool that teachers use to encourage students' interest to learn Arabic. In the learning process as well as in the form of the work, it has made the Arabic and calligraphy into a unity. The model with a touch of calligraphy art is aimed at learners who are just getting to know Arabic to have a sense of joy and affection to learn Arabic. The impact of pleasure can change the mindset of learners that Arabic is easy and fun.

Abstract

Method in teaching-learning process is very important, especially in learning foreign language, for instance Arabic, as a tool achieve the determined goal. Learning method is always changing from time to time in line with the developmentof the epoch. It is not surprised that new methods of learning are developved rapidly. However, the new methods are usually created as the “ reaction” to the old  methods that have been used before. The new methods are often claimed as the best method to be used, Nevertheless, a method is not viewed as good or not, but a method is viewed as whether it is proper or not  for certain condition. Every method has its own advantages that can be used by considering the existing condition
