Abstract

Tin mining activities on Bangka Island, which have persisted since the colonial era, have made a significant contribution to Indonesia’s national economy. However, the dominance of marine space by mining concessions has triggered ecological and social conflicts at the local level. This article aims to analyze the dynamics of coastal community resistance against the expansion of tin mining in the waters of Batu Beriga Village, Central Bangka, through the lens of spatial production. Drawing on the socio-spatial approaches of Henri Lefebvre and David Harvey, this study explores how the state and corporations construct the sea as a commodity through exclusionary spatial planning policies. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis. The findings reveal that the dominance of marine space by mining companies, enabled by exclusionary spatial policies, has led to spatial exclusion and the marginalization of traditional fishers. The forms of resistance that have emerged reflect community efforts to reclaim their living space from exploitative capitalist power. This study contributes to the literature on socio-ecological conflicts in coastal areas and expands critical discourse on the production of space in the context of natural resource governance in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research examines the strategic role of school committees in improving the quality of education in Indonesia through a systematic literature review method. The background of the research is based on the gap between the ideal legal basis as stipulated in the National Education System Law and its derivative regulations and the realization of implementation in the field, which results in limitations in monitoring the use of education funds, especially School Operational Assistance (BOS) and Special Allocation Funds (DAK). The lack of training, lack of transparency and low stakeholder involvement are the main factors that open up opportunities for corrupt practices and budget irregularities, which have a negative impact on the quality of education services. The purpose of this study is to identify factors that influence the effectiveness of school committees and formulate strategic recommendations to improve supervisory capacity and accountability in the management of education funds. The method used is a systematic literature review, which is a structured approach in collecting, filtering and synthesizing secondary data from various sources such as scientific journals, policy reports, education regulations, as well as official documents from relevant institutions such as Indonesia Corruption Watch and OECD. The results show that despite a strong legal basis, implementation in the field still faces significant operational and structural obstacles. The gap between theory and practice indicates the need for capacity building through structured training programs and the implementation of digital reporting systems to improve transparency. Thus, this study concludes that optimizing the role of school committees is key to improving the quality of national education and suggests policy reforms that focus on improving oversight and active stakeholder participation

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the influence of ethnic identity in political communication in Teluk Pulai Village, Kualuh Leidong Sub-district, Labuhanbatu Utara Regency. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data was collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with community leaders, village heads, and residents from various ethnicities. The results show that political communication in Teluk Pulai Village shows that ethnic identity becomes social and symbolic capital in strengthening community cohesion. Traditional and political leaders utilise culture, language, and traditional rituals to build legitimacy and emotional closeness. Informal communication and cultural symbols are effective in conveying political messages. However, unwise ethnic politicisation risks divisiveness, so inclusive, dialogic and contextualised political narratives are needed to maintain unity and democratic participation. While the politicisation of ethnic identity can lead to social fragmentation, inclusive, dialogue-based political communication across ethnic lines strengthens social cohesion and the legitimacy of local leaders. This study confirms the importance of integrating socio-cultural aspects in political communication to support democracy and stability in coastal multiethnic societies

Abstract

This research investigates the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Rahmatan lil Alamin Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5RA) in several Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Pontianak City, specifically MTs Walisongo, MTs Almadani, and MTs Negeri 1 Pontianak. Adopting a descriptive qualitative method, data were gathered through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the P5RA initiative was developed in a structured manner, beginning with the establishment of a facilitator team, followed by program socialization and teacher capacity-building sessions. A variety of project-based activities, including student exhibitions, social service programs, and interfaith visits, served as platforms to cultivate core values such as collaboration, tolerance, and social justice. Teachers played a key role as facilitators, guiding students who were actively engaged in the learning process. The program significantly contributed to the development of students' character, particularly in enhancing their empathy, teamwork, and openness to diversity. Despite these positive outcomes, the study also identified several ongoing obstacles. These include time constraints, inconsistent teacher comprehension of the project’s goals, and insufficient involvement from parents. To overcome these challenges, the study recommends ongoing teacher training and strengthening partnerships among educational institutions, families, and community stakeholders. These efforts are crucial to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the P5RA in nurturing well-rounded students aligned with the values of Pancasila

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is an essential 21st‑century skill, yet Indonesian students continue to face difficulties in reasoning and applying mathematical concepts in real‑world contexts. This study aims to describe the numeracy literacy profiles of senior high school students based on verbalizer-imager cognitive styles and to formulate alternative learning strategies suited to these characteristics. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed with 12 grade‑X students from two public senior high schools in Serang Regency, purposively selected based on their numeracy literacy levels (high, medium, low) and cognitive styles. Data were collected through numeracy literacy tests, cognitive style questionnaires, and semi‑structured interviews, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model with the assistance of NVivo 12 Plus. The findings indicate that verbalizer students rely on narratives but struggle with visual interpretation, while imager students excel in visualization yet require reinforcement of numerical concepts. These differences influence their problem‑solving strategies, highlighting the need for adaptive multimodal learning that integrates narratives, visualization, and reflection to enhance numeracy literacy.

Abstract

Conflict between neighbours is a social challenge that often disrupts community cohesion, especially in rural areas with close social interactions. This research aims to examine the dynamics of social conflict in Bakti Makmur Village, Rokan Hilir, Riau, by exploring the causal factors, forms of social disintegration, and a Qur'anic values-based resolution approach. The qualitative case study method was used through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation with residents, community leaders, and religious leaders. The findings show that conflicts are often triggered by unfair business competition, social jealousy, and weak intervention of social institutions. Broken communication, innuendo on social media, and lack of islah facilitation exacerbate social disintegration. Although the values of ukhuwah, islah and itsar are often combined, the actualisation of these values is still low in daily practice. The Qur'an emphasises ukhuwah Islamiyah as the structural foundation of the ummah that must be realised through justice, empathy and social solidarity. This research also found that some residents still uphold the ethics of muamalah and tolerance in competition, representing the praxis of Qur'anic values in social life. However, the dominance of individualistic approaches and the weak role of social institutions hinder the transformation of values into social structures. This study recommends the integration of Qur'anic value-based conflict resolution strategies and local community approaches to build a peaceful, just society and create prosperous conditions
