Abstract

Teaching and learning activities are required online to reduce the spread of the corona virus. All subjects are transferred to online media, including biology which in its teaching requires practicum for student understanding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of online biology learning during the Covid-19 pandemic for high school/ equivalent students in Muaro Jambi Regency. This study uses a quantitative model with a survey method. In this study, researchers only describe problems of learning and the media used for online learning. The implementation is done by collecting data, managing, and presenting the data objectively. In the research conducted, 36.8% of students answered in doubt and 27.3% did not agree in understanding biological material. This shows that the effectiveness of learning biology during the Covid-19 period is still not effective, because of the obstacles experienced by students, namely the media or learning methods provided by educators do not attract students' interest, learning is boring, and some students do not have adequate facilities for online learning. Giving a lot of assignments makes it difficult for students to understand biology learning.

Abstract

Local potential in South Kalimantan, especially plants, can be used as a source of learning. Valid learning resources are learning resources that are validated by experts. Validation can be interpreted as an act of proof appropriately through certain stages to always achieve the desired results. The purpose of this study was todesribe the validity of the 3D pageflip based pocket book of the Cyperaceae Family in the Galam Vegetated Swamp, Bati-Bati District. This research method uses Education Design Research (EDR) with the Tessmer formative evaluation model by 2 experts. The results of the validation stage research by 90,97% of experts with the criteria “very valid” so that it can be used as a learning resorce.

Abstract

Local potential, especially pteridophyte plants and based on local potential can be used as a source of learning, plant development based on local potential. Validity can be interpreted as an act of proving precisely through certain stages to achieve the desired results. The purpose of this study is the validity of the 3D Pageflip Pocket Book based on the Pteridophyta species, Kurau sub-district, validity. The study used a descriptive approach to research on Pteridophyta in the Mangrove Area. The results showed that the test of the validity of the expert's assessment obtained an average result that was very valid, namely 92.10%. Based on the scores obtained, the Pteridophyta species pocket book based on the 3D Pageflip developed is very valid.

Abstract

The learning process in the classroom will work well with the active participation of students in the activities in it, which can increase interest and motivation and deepen understanding of ongoing learning, especially in this digital era. Most student learning activities cannot be separated from what is called a smartphone or device. many learning resources that can be accessed by students, one of which is the "Mutasi ver 1.1" application for android. Mutation application ver 1.1 is an Android-based product that can be developed as a learning medium for students while mutation is an abstract 12th grade Biology Concept and tends to be difficult for students so it is interesting to develop. This development research aims to provide an overview of the validity and practicality of the learning process facilities for the Mutation Application ver 1.1. This development research uses a 4D model but only reaches the Development stage. The results of the development of the Mutation ver 1.1 application show that the application is very effective with a value of 94.80% and practical with a value of 85.27% as a learning process for the concept of Mutation for class XII.

Abstract

Indonesia has an abundance of Artocarpus species. The genus Artocarpus has 30 species spread across Indonesia. This research is a type of development with research results oriented to field data which is then made into a product in the form of an HTML 5-based electronic pocket book enrichment material that will be used for high school students. HTML 5 based electronic pocket book, which is about the diversity of Artocarpus species on the riverbanks of Beringin Kencana Village, Tabunganen District which is compiled as enrichment material. The research method is research and development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model. The results showed as many as 6 types of Artocarpus namely Nangka (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk.), Nangka Bilulang (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk.), Nangka Bubur (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk.) which was included in one variety, Sukun (Artocarpus altilis (Park.) Fosberg.), Cempedak (Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Merr.) and Keledang (Artocarpus lanceifolius Roxb.) are other species. The electronic pocket book that was developed obtained the criteria of "very valid" on the validity test conducted by 3 experts and "very good" on the readability test conducted by 7 students.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires students to be able to think at a higher level or High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). HOTS is a thinking ability that not only requires the ability to remember, but also requires other higher skills, such as critical thinking skills, problem solving, and decision making. HOTS is very much needed in the world of education, especially in learning biology. One of the teaching materials that can be used to train students' HOTS is the student worksheet. The purpose of this study was to find data at the stage of defining high-order thinking skill-oriented student worksheet. The sampling technique was observation, interviews and questionnaires to teachers and students of SMAS Adabiah Padang. The results showed that the teaching materials available at SMAS Adabiah Padang and already used the 2013 Curriculum, but this worksheet used had not been able to train students' high-level thinking skills. Based on the results of interviews with students that 94% of students agree to develop worksheet-oriented. Therefore, it is necessary to develop HOTS-oriented worksheets to train students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

Students tend to have concerns in carrying out learning to achieve good learning outcomes, so students want to add to their learning outside of school. In the current era of globalization, there have been many tutoring institutions that have developed in various regions in Indonesia. This causes the interest of students to take tutoring outside of school. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the learning independence of students between those who take and those who do not take tutoring. This descriptive research was conducted in the even semester of 2019/ 2020 with a population of 266 students. The research sample was students who attended and students who did not take biology tutoring outside of school. The sampling technique used was quota sampling technique, and a sample of 37 people was obtained. The data analysis technique used is the two-average difference test. The results of data analysis showed that the two data were not normally distributed and also not homogeneous, so the U test was used. The test results showed that U count 89.5 while U table 103, in other words U count < U table therefore it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between students' biology learning independence follow with those who do not follow tutoring outside of school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine efforts to improve learning outcomes of biology students through flipped learning model assisted by Google Classroom on metabolic material at SMA Negeri 1 Cikarang Barat. The research subjects were all students of class XII IPA 4 at this school, total 36 students. Samples were taken by simple random. The average score of students before being treated was 64.86, and then learning outcomes increased to 74.86 in the first cycle, 80 in the second cycle, and 87.50 in the third cycle. The number of students who scored 78 increased in every cycle, namely: 50% in cycle I; 61.11% in cycle II; and 86.11 in cycle III. We conclude that our model can improve learning outcome of our students.

Abstract

Raising of science and technology in education often used in learning process, one of which is the use of interactive multimedia. The development of maritime-oriented interactive multimedia is carried out to improve student understanding and increase learning outcomes, and also to increase number of existing instructional media. This study aims to develop interactive multimedia based on Articulate Storyline on Plantae topic maritime oriented for class X students in Senior High School. Development model uses Plomp (2013). This model has three stages; 1) preliminary research, 2) development or prototyping phase, and 3) assessment phase. The data collection technique were a questionnaire, test instrument, and interview. Based on research result, the overall validation results are 87.65% with a very valid category. The level of practicality in interactive multimedia based on teacher and student assessments obtained an overall score of 91.15%, very practical. The product is proven to improve student learning outcomes, seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test through N-gain test, which obtained a value of 0.77 with an increase in the effectiveness of the high category. The results of the N-gain score showed an increase from before to after learning with. It can be concluded that interactive multimedia based on Articulate Storyline on Plantae topic maritime oriented can be used in the learning of biology.
