Abstract

This study aims to describe verbal expressions and speech functions in the form of verbal conversation implicature in invite Sarolangun Malay society. Pragmatic analysis is used to analyze data. Related to the results of this study indicate that there are nine conversation implicatures inviting. First, there are four verbal forms and declarative speech functions. Second, there are four verbal forms and interrogative speech functions. Third, there is one verbal form and an imperative speech function. The results of this study are expected to be a consideration for subsequent research and serve as a consideration for someone to communicate indirect. Keywords: conversation implicature, invate, malay

Abstract

Hemingway is a noted American writer and a mouthpiece of the Lost Generation. His writing style and life attitude of the characters in the novels lent color to the whole world. His words are simple, full of emotion and symbolism and strong emphasis upon dialogue. Any efforts to fathom Hemingway must include his writing style in his novels. Abstract

Today people tend to use advertisements to promote politics. This is called campaign advertising, one of which is promoting prospective leaders. On the occasion of int. Will be discussed the language functions contained in the campaign proposal on the Regional Election Committee in the City of Padang. To get an explanation of the language found in campaign advertisements, data was collected by listening to the use of language and its function in advertising campaigns. More than that the data that has been collected is analyzed. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was found that the language function was used in campaign advertisements in the Regional Election Commission in the City of Padang. The language in the campaign advertisements is expresssive, informative and directive.

Abstract

Padang Panjang can be considered as a heterogeneous city in the existence of a communal community. The city can position itself as a party that can explain the benchmarks of the critical attitudes of the reading community towards billboard texts. The thoughts of billboard readers can be transformed to a formulation model for the readers' critical attitude towards the billboard texts displayed on the roadsides. The readers' thoughts are perfunctory, inquisitive, curious, and their critical attitudes are influenced by a very complex city environment. Factors of education, religion, trade, intersection city (Ikua Darek, Head of Rantau) could be a practical barometer of politic. This study is aimed to answer what formulation model of the critical attitude of billboard texts readers in the city of the Veranda of Mecca is like and whether in Is the city full of complexity there is a possibility that ideology is seen as the cultural expressions both in verbal and communication form reflected on the billboard texts. This paper examines the meanings and how the myths of the Veranda of Mecca city in the cultural expressions are presented in the signs billboard texts.

Abstract

Tulis Sutan Sati Works “ Sabai Nan Aluih”: Androginic Phenomenon in Minangkabau Matrilinial Communuty. The aims of this research are 1) To know the cultural difraction of society in a drama text steming from the legendary story. 2) To know the understanding of matrilini concept in a drama text, 3) To know the way the author approaches women’s position in a story. This research employed gender studies to analyze the androginic phenomena of women figure in the text. The result the study shows that Tulis Sutan Sati does not give place to women as equal to men. Though culturally Minangkabau is matrilineal society, women remain sub ordinate to men as reflected in their literature.Keywords: androginik, matrilinial, drama text.

Abstract

This article is a result of a research about Minangkabau societal ideology which is reflected by the novels written by West Sumatran’s author. The Minangkabau societal ideology can be as a tool to form and to  educate children. Base on the works analyzed, the ideology message was found and became the foundation to form the children character such as keep strugglins, to have empathy to other people, to have responsibility, creative and innovative, the feeling of togetherness, mutual aid and hard work. Therefore, the benefit cannot be neglected that literary works such as novels can be use as one effective media to form and to lead the character of Indonesian children, especially to establish the uniqueness of Indonesia society in global relation. Abstract

The writing of this paper is motivated by the phenomenon of the use of adverb in print media, especially in local newspapers in the city of Padang. The use of adverb, shows the diversity of forms with different behaviors. In this connection, this study aims to describe the forms of adverb used in local print media in the city of Padang and explain their morphological, syntactic and semantic behavior. There are three research methods and techniques used in this paper, 1) data supply methods and techniques, 2) data analysis methods and techniques, and 3) data analysis methods and techniques. The population of this study is the entire use of adverb in local newspapers in the city of Padang. The research sample is adverb used in two newspapers, the Padang Ekspres newspaper and the Haluan newspaper. Based on its shape, there are two forms of adverb used in local newspapers, namely monomorfemis and polymorphemic adverbs. Abstract

The problem in research, namely how is the choice of words in mass media framing of crime news? What are the techniques and models of mass media framing of crime news? What is the response of the community to the use of non-criminal news language and its influence on society? This study aims to describe and inventory the concept of the crime language news framing in the mass media. The concept of framing described is related to the choice of words in mass media framing, techniques and models of mass media framing of crime news and public response to the use of non-criminal news language and its influence on society. The method used in this study consists of three stages, namely the stage of data collection, the stage of data classification, and the stage of data analysis. Data obtained from print media mass media. Technically, this research was conducted using the method of listening and proficient methods in providing data. The proficient method can be compared with the interview method. In data analysis, editing, coding, and matching methods are used. Based on data analysis, the choice of words in the language of news framing of crimes is generally in favor of the victim. News writers choose words that can accompany the reader's mind to sympathize with the victim. In addition, the focus of the news is framing with cognitive, empathy, and packing techniques. The framing model in crime news language has four structural dimensions of news text as a framing device, namely syntax, script, thematic, and rhetorical. Abstract

Pantun is a group of rhymed verses that support the beauty and finesse, which embody a strong and influential idea. Traditional Malay pantun works in almost every activity of the life of the Malay community, including expressing the values and culture of a tradition, questions of love and affection, concepts of humour as well as religious values. It also serves to convey the ideas and thoughts of its speakers and reflect the lives of its creator. In the creation of Malay pantun, all the experiences, views and philosophies of life conveyed in it use the nature background as a hint or meaning. The use of such elements reflects the intimate and bonded connection of the Malay community with the elements of nature around them. The creation of pantun often uses words related to the elements of nature that are present in the environment of the Malay community, especially in the form of symbolism or those imagining a variety of symbolic images that can exemplify the aesthetic value besides the meaning and profound message. The privileges and strengths of the Malay pantun can be seen in the use of certain symbols chosen based on the perception and worldview of the life of the Malay community and on the semantic relationship between hint and meaning. Abstract

This paper aims to describe the relationship of Literary Works (novels) to nature. Literary studies that emphasize the relationship of literature with nature entered into the realm of literary ecology and specifically called Literary Ecocritics. In the presentation of this paper it leads to a descriptive description as a characteristic of qualitative research. The scientific method applied in this study is the discourse approach that exists in eco-criticism. In the novel Kubah di Atas Pasir by Zhainal Fanani, nature is not only used as a setting of place and atmosphere in literary works but also an aspect that helps build the story and aesthetics of a literary work. In this novel, nature is used as a medium of communication by humans in their lives.Keywords: Nature, eco-criticism, media, and literature
