Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the patterns and functions of questions expressed in conversational implicature found in market transactions. A descriptive qualitative method was used in this research. And conversation analysis was applied to determine question patterns, while conversational implicature was to examine question functions. The research data was collected in the form of recorded and transcripted conversations along with the corresponding situations or contexts. The data of this research was primarily obtained from both sellers and buyers in Way Halim Market, Lampung, Indonesia, and it was gathered by listening and taking notes. This study showed that there were six types of question patterns found in such transactions that contained conversational implicature, namely (1) yes/no question for asking, (2) tag question for rejecting and ordering (3) declarative question for ordering, (4) alternative question for asking, (5) wh-question for asking and sugesting, and (6) rhetorical question for rejecting. The results also indicated that the sellers used persuasive implied questions more often than the buyers. These questions functioned to persuade buyers politely to make purchase.Keywords: question patterns, implicature, market transactionsPOLA PERTANYAAN DAN IMPLIKATUR PERCAKAPANDI PASAR TRADISIONAL LAMPUNG-INDONESIAAbstrakTujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pola dan fungsi tuturan pertanyaan yang disampaikan dalam implikatur percakapan ketika melakukan transaksi jual beli. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun jenis penelitian dalam menganalisis data menggunakan analisis percakapan untuk menentukan pola pertanyaan dan implikatur percakapan untuk menentukan fungsi tuturan pertanyaan. Data penelitian berupa tuturan percakapan hasil rekaman yang telah ditranskrip serta situasi atau konteks percakapan yang melatarbelakangi peristiwa tersebut. Sumber data penelitian ini diperoleh dari para pedagang dan pembeli di Pasar Way Halim, Provinsi Lampung, Indonesia. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dan metode catat. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan enam bentuk pola pertanyaan dalam transaksi jual beli yang mengandung implikatur percakapan, yaitu (1) yes/no question fungsi meminta, (2) tag question fungsi menolak dan menyuruh (3) declarative question fungsi menyuruh, (4) alternative question fungsi meminta, (5) wh-question fungsi meminta dan menyarankan, dan (6) rhetorical question fungsi menolak. Dari data yang ditemukan, penjual lebih sering menggunakan tuturan pertanyaan bersifat persuasif dengan makna yang disampaikan secara tidak langsung kepada pembeli. Fungsi penggunaan tuturan persuasif tersebut yakni penjual terlihat memiliki kesantunan sehingga mempengaruhi pembeli dengan harapan akan terjadi transaksi jual beli.Kata kunci: pola pertanyaan, implikatur, transaksi jual-beli

Abstract

Globalization era causes local wisdom such as seloko oral literature begins difficult to be found in certain events. Seloko is one of the oral traditions owned by Jambi Province. Seloko can be found in the event of marriage reception, custom event, officer inauguration, etc. This research aims to describe seloko utterance uttered in the Malay community's marriage event living in Sarolangun Regency. Particularly, this research aims to describe the function of seloko and educational values obtained in seloko. The research results show that there are three functions of seloko in marriage advice such as ordering, suggesting, and forbidding. Meanwhile, there are four values of character education in seloko. First, the religious value that relates to obeying the religion and custom. Second, the character value relates to oneself that covers social care, respecting other people, and loyal. Third, the self character value, which relates to society's environment that covers cooperation and democracy. Besides that, seloko can be used as a reference in running life because it contains the teaching and advice.

Abstract

The using of yes/no question is a productive tool for reaching the function of communication discourse. The aimed of this research is testified the function of yes / no question in implicature discourse on e-commerce advertisement. The sources of this research were 8 enterprises advertisement of e – commerce which had variation of e-commerce advertisements. This research is merged the conversation analyses and implicature on conversation. The question yes / no in implicature conversation have different functions, such as: ordering, asking, suggesting, and rejecting.

Abstract

This study aims to describe verbal expressions and speech functions in the form of verbal conversation implicature in invite Sarolangun Malay society. Pragmatic analysis is used to analyze data. Related to the results of this study indicate that there are nine conversation implicatures inviting. First, there are four verbal forms and declarative speech functions. Second, there are four verbal forms and interrogative speech functions. Third, there is one verbal form and an imperative speech function. The results of this study are expected to be a consideration for subsequent research and serve as a consideration for someone to communicate indirect. Keywords: conversation implicature, invate, malay

Abstract

Anak Dalam Jambi Tribe (ADJT) lives in the forest, far from the population, and the existence is rare. This research aims to determine whether ADJT uses illocutionary speech act, function, and type of speech act used. This research uses qualitative with pragmatic research type. The data is in the form of an illocutionary speech act, which is then transcript by putting out the conversation context. This research's data source is from ADJT, who lives in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province, Indonesia. Result research shows that ADJT uses three types of speech acts, which are (1) directive with the function of prohibiting, ordering, and asking, (2) expressive with the function of thankful, and (3) commissive with the function of refusing. It can be concluded that ADJT  frequently uses illocutionary to deliver information to interlocutors. This research is expected can become a preliminary step in further research, especially in the use of language related to indirect meaning in ADJT.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe the function of interrogative utterance contained in conversation implicature in the discourse of e-commerce business advertisement. The source of data in this research was in the form of interrogative utterance obtained in e-commerce business advertisement such as online shopping, online transportation, and drop shipping existed in YouTube. E-commerce advertisement of online shopping is an advertisement which frequently has conversation implicature. Meanwhile, online transportation advertisement and drop shipping seldom have conversation implicature. This research employed pragmatics in order to analyze the transcript data. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found out five functions of interrogative utterance, they are (1) instruction function, (2) asking function, (3) forbidding function, (4) refusing function, and (5) suggesting function. From these five functions of interrogative utterance in the conversation implicature, it can be concluded that the discourse of interrogative utterance in the advertisement of e-commerce leads to persuasive form.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi ujaran interogatif yang terkandung dalam implikatur percakapan dalam wacana iklan bisnis e-commerce. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah dalam bentuk ucapan interogatif yang diperoleh dalam iklan bisnis e-commerce, seperti belanja online, transportasi online, dan pengiriman drop yang ada di youtube. Iklan e-commerce dari belanja online adalah iklan yang sering memiliki implikatur percakapan. Sementara itu, iklan transportasi online dan layanan dropshipping jarang memiliki implikatur percakapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pragmatik untuk menganalisis data transkrip. Berdasarkan analisis data, peneliti menemukan lima fungsi ucapan interogatif, yaitu (1) fungsi instruksi, (2) fungsi bertanya, (3) fungsi melarang, (4) fungsi menolak, dan (5) fungsi saran. Dari lima fungsi ujaran interogatif ini dalam implikatur percakapan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa wacana ujaran interogatif dalam iklan e-commerce mengarah pada bentuk persuasif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The acquisition of language can not be realized this happens naturally that takes place in a child's brain. Processes when the child is acquiring a language consists of two aspects: the first aspect of performance that consists of aspects of understanding and delivery. Both aspects of competence (linguistic ability). The linguistic ability of the child consists of three components, namely: phonological ability, semantics and sentences. The acquisition of this language is also commonly divided into the acquisition of syntax and semantic acquisition. Semantic acquisition is the acquisition of lexicon or vocabulary. This study aims to analyze the acquisition of language on the semantic level where the child's residence is multilingual, in children aged 2-5 years in kos-kosan western region west, klojen district, Malang, East Java. To obtain accurate results, the need for accurate research methods as well. This study uses a qualitative method. The data in this research were collected using observation method with recording technique and recorded then analyzed by collecting data through observation and recording of conversation conducted by children of Java 2-5 years into field note then describing data result and concluding data analysis result. Abstract

Pattern of indirect directive speech acts on online advertisementsThe technological advancement and emergence of online advertisement become the underlying reason of the implementation of this current research. This paper discusses the pattern obtained in directive speech act delivered indirectly. Data of this qualitative research were utterances expressing directive speech act that had been transcribed by inclosing the conversation contexts. The data were collected from 30 online advertisements in online shopping application. The research results show there are various ways in delivering directive speech act indirectly such as (1) giving narration; (2) using opposite coordinative conjunction; (3) applying alternative questions; (4) using yes/no question; (5) wh-questions; and (6)  utilizing rhetorical question. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that online advertising product makers tend to use indirect directive speech act communication patterns. The use of indirect speech patterns is intended to persuade online advertisement readers to use the goods and or services offered. Therefore, the persuasive language of online advertising aims to instruct, command, suggest, and guide readers to order goods and or services offered by online advertising product makers. The findings of this research provide online advertisement readers ways to understand the indirect directive speech acts made by the online advertisement producers.Keywords: pattern, speech act, directive, advertisements, e-commercePola tindak tutur direktif tidak langsung dalam iklan onlineKemajuan teknologi dan munculnya iklan online menjadi penyebab penelitian ini dilakukan. Artikel ini bertujuan mendiskusikan mengenai pola-pola yang terdapat dalam tuturan direktif yang disampaikan secara tidak langsung. Dalam penelitian kualitatif ini datanya berupa tuturan yang mengandung tindak tutur direktif tidak langsung yang telah ditranskrip dengan menyertakan konteks percakapan. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah 30 iklan online dengan jenis aplikasi belanja online. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat berbagai cara dalam menyampai­kan tindak tutur direktif yang disampaikan secara tidak langsung. Cara-cara tersebut yaitu (1) memberikan narasi; (2) memakai konjungsi kordinatif perlawan­an; (3) menggunakan pertanyaan alternatif pilihan; (4) memakai pertanyaan dengan jawaban ya dan tidak; (5) bertanya dengan menggunakan dengan kata tanya; dan (6) menggunakan pertanyaan retoris. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembuat produk iklan online berkecenderungan menggunakan pola komunikasi tindak tutur direktif tidak langsung. Pemakaian pola tidak tutur tidak langsung tersebut dimaksudkan untuk memberikan persuasi kepada pembaca iklan online untuk menggunakan produk barang dan atau jasa yang ditawarkan pembuat produk iklan online. Oleh karena itu, bahasa persuasif dalam tindak tutur iklan online bertujuan untuk memerintah, menyarankan, dan mengarahkan pembaca supaya mereka memesan barang dan atau jasa yang ditawarkan oleh pembuat produk iklan online. Temuan dalam penelitian ini dapat membantu pembaca iklan online memahami tuturan direktif tidak langsung yang diproduksi oleh pembuat iklan online.Kata kunci: pola, tindak tutur, direktif, iklan, e-commerce

Abstract

The society of Malay Jambi has an oral tradition in the form of seloko which can be found in the marriage proposal event. Nowadays, the existence of seloko in the midst of the globalization era begins to be threatened and rarely found. This research is one of the way to document and preserve seloko so that it can be inherited to the next generation. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The type of research conducted was the research of speech act proposed by (Searle, 1979). This research aims to describe the type and the function of speech act. The data in this research was in the form of utterances that had been transcribed. The source of data was obtained from the marriage proposal event that occurred in the city of Jambi, the result indicates that there are four types of speech act used in the marriage proposal event. First, the directive speech act with the function of requesting and suggesting. Second, the commissive speech act with the function of giving promise. Third, the expressive speech act with an apology function. Fourth, the representative speech act with the function of the disclosure statement of the information. Seloko on the marriage proposal event is absolutely very useful and important for the both families since it can be used as the foundation and consideration before marriage. dx.doi.org/10.23960/aksara/v21i2.pp156-168

Abstract

This article discusses the life of Suku Anak Dalam or usually called as SAD who live in rural area of Jambi Province, Indonesia. Transmigration program at SAD area in Merangin Regency creates multi-language areas. Transmigration and multilanguage makes SAD life experiences social change and its origin language and culture are threatened of extinction. Another factor is Industry Revolution 4.0 that has given positive impact towards SAD life. Beside that, its negative impact is that the cultural heritage which is the nation civilization  can be extinct. Therefore an effort of maintaining the language needs to be done. A qualitative research was used to describe the data. Beside that, this article is also a multidisciplinary science in this case studying the social change occurs in SAD life then sociology study was employed. Meanwhile, language plan in the effort of maintaining the language is a language science study especially sociolinguistics. The research data were obtained from interview result and field observation. Social changes that occur in SAD life are residences, using communication devices, owning religion, vehicle, and fashion style. There are seven languages used in the transmigration area such as SAD language, Malay language, Indonesian language (national language), Javanese, Minangese, Sundanese, and Batak Language. The efforts for conserving the language done by the government (The Ministry of Education and Culture, Jambi Province Government, Jambi Language Center) are making the policy and SAD language dictionary but these actions are not optimal yet. Beside that, SAD also has done some actions in the effort of maintaining their language and culture. Based on the findings of this research, a special attention about SAD life is pivotal so that their language and culture do not become extinct.
