Abstract

The representation and mathematical problem-solving abilities of students are still relatively low. The low ability is due to the lack of attention of the implementers of learning to develop learning that can improve the ability of representation and mathematical problem-solving. One effort that can be done is to apply to learn through the Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) approach. This study aims to analyze the increase in representation ability and mathematical problem solving of students and to examine the interaction between student learning and the ability of representation and mathematical problem solving of students. This research is quantitative research with an experimental method with the design of the pretest-posttest group design. The population of this study was all students of SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh with a sample of two classes which became the experimental and control classes. The instrument of data collection is a test of representation ability and mathematical problem-solving. Data analysis of the study was carried out with SPSS 23 assisted two-way ANOVA for windows at a significant level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that: 1) the improvement of the representation and mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who obtained learning through the CRA approach was better than improving the problem-solving abilities of students who obtained conventional learning 2) there was no interaction between the CRA approach and the student level towards improving representation and solving abilities mathematical problem

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is the state of the industry in the face of the 21st century when there is a massive change through technology that opens a barrier between the digital and physical worlds. There will be many types of jobs lost, and new types of jobs will emerge. Faced with this, high mastery skills are required by graduates. In vocational high schools the mastery of skills is done by sending students directly into industrial work practices. But are IWP activities really able to be used to improve skills in dealing with Industry 4.0? What types of skills students must master when dealing with industry 4.0 This article will conduct a study of various related literature about IWP and industry 4.0. The results of the study will link the effects resulting from IWP activities and needs in industry 4.0. The results of the study indicate that the IWP program in vocational high schools needs some improvement to be able to produce vocational high school graduates who are ready to face industry 4.0.

Abstract

This thesis presents about education concept of Paulo Freire about the education which are critical, humanist, and free. This education concept is Freire's opinion towards traditional education practice. Paulo Freire sees that education reality is an oppression reality. That is reflected in two things in the in education praxis; first, hegemony in education, which is a relation between teacher and student that is not based on humanity relation, but between a sovereign and subordinate. Teacher becomes the dominant subject in the relationship and the student is just an object. Whereas, both teacher and student are the learning subject. Second, education in bank style. Education in this model places student as an empty bottle that must be filled by the teacher. Seeing that condition, Freire proposes different concept and school praxis. That is critical education, humanist, and independence as the writer says in this thesis. The result of that education process will create a mindful human being. Freire calls it consientization. This thesis will also examine the coherence with education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to deepen our understanding of how school organization factors can be used to predict students academic performance. In particular, factors examined were leadership skills, nature of students, parental involvement and the school environment. Using stratified and simple random sampling, a total of 152 principals were selected for the study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data whose variance and regression was analyzed using ANOVA. The findings consolidate the importance of leadership skills, nature of students, learning environment and parents in predicting students learning success. All the four aspects of school organization contributed differently to predicting students academic performance with the Principals' Leadership Skills having the highest impact while parental involvement made the least contribution. Findings of this study are important to educational administrators to ensure a supportive learning environment for the students. In addition education authorities both at national and local levels should enhance field inspections to rate the learning atmosphere. The study also serves to contribute to the body of knowledge on school organizational factors in addition to triggering the need for more research in this domain.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournaments (TGT) learning model which has an impact on consistent changes in students' critical thinking skills in Social Science subjects. The study used a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was students of MTs N 4 Sidoarjo class VIII determined by the cluster proportional random sampling technique. The experimental class is taught using the TGT model and the control class is using the discussion learning model. Both research classes were measured critical thinking ability. The data obtained were tested using an Independent-sample t-test to see the difference in the two research classes to see the difference between the pretest and posttest of critical thinking skills. The results showed that there was a positive influence on students' critical thinking skills in using the TGT model. In the experimental class taught using the TGT learning model, their critical thinking skills were better than the discussion learning model. The final assessment shows that critical thinking skills show Sig. (2-tailed) 0.011 < 0.05, which means that there is a significant difference. The existence of a significant difference indicates that there is an effect of the TGT learning model on students' critical thinking skills.
