Abstract

This study is about the effect of rationale application usage as innovative learning application to help the students being critical thinker in writing argumentative text. It was attempted to investigate (1) whether there is any significant difference between students reasoning ability, (2) whether there is any significant difference between students structuring ability, and (3) whether there is any significant difference between students analyzing ability who are taught by using rationale application as found in their argumentative writing and those who are not taught without using rationale. To do so, a quasi-experimental designed was administered to a sample of University students (N=50). In order to answer the research questions, the data are analyzed by using independent sample t-test. SPSS 21 is used to do those statistical analysis. In conclusion, the findings showed that rationale application can be chosen as an alternative media of improving critical thinking in argumentative writing. It was proved by the findings of the study that bring us to the point that there was a significant difference on the students critical thinking in some aspects (reasoning, structuring and analyzing ability) as found in their argumentative writing between learners in experimental and control group. Abstract

The aimed of this study is to explore how fake news through the media can disrupt socio-political stability and impede the implementation of various government policies that are being introduced, and how significant efforts are being made by all parties to ensure that hoax coverage does not spread through all lines of social life by providing a literacy education formula in the context of knowledge challenges that are difficult to address. It also analyzes how social media are used to construct strategies that can cloud the atmosphere of socio-political life and public morality, which seem to give priority to pro-people ethics, as is the case in Indonesia. In this study, a qualitative approach and post-truth theory are used as analytical perspectives in the interpretation of topics such as Covid-19 news and details in the presidential election contest of 2019. This study will also document how, through the mediation of hoax reporting through social media, online social media representations such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other personal messaging applications are explored. So, of course, based on the findings of the preliminary observations, there needs to be a strategy for creating new, shifting narratives about different government policies based on relevant references, since modern media have an influence on the social, cultural, and political landscape of life. A proper media literacy and literacy analysis must also be carried out to see if offline communities with limited internet connectivity no longer accept the notion of 'hoax opinion' established in Indonesia. Therefore, literacy education would be able to reveal false knowledge that has spread through society and will correct any myths in social life.

Abstract

Universities and education now require quality assurance to ensure the quality of education. The implementation of a quality assurance system that already underway requires an internal audit process to ensure the quality process continues. Internal audit has an important role in management. Internal quality assurance is carried out through a cycle of establishing, implementing, evaluating, controlling, and increasing the standards of higher education. "Internal quality audits are part of the cycle of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI). A quality audit is not an assessment/assessment but rather a matching between the implementation and planning of an activity/program."

Abstract

This study aims to investigate Indonesian teachers' perspectives of translation or first language used in ELT classrooms as well as to find out the teachers' strategies on how to incorporate translation as their pedagogical tool. This research is applied in a case study methodology, in which the researcher interviewed three English teachers in Indonesia to explore their perspectives. The raw data was analysed by using thematic analysis to find the emerging themes of the interview data which led to the result of this qualitative research. The result of the finding indicates that the teachers mostly have positive perceptions about TILT (translation in language teaching). Most participants believed that when translation use selectively, it can help students with foreign language learning, promote students' metalinguistic awareness, function as a thinking tool, mediate social interaction, and function as social mediation. Additionally, the strategies of TILT applied by the teachers in this study entail explaining difficult concepts and grammar, avoiding chunks of word translation, and nurturing students critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is suggested that if translation is integrated into language teaching, it should be used selectively as a pedagogical tool to support students learning.

Abstract

Social studies education as a science combines a number of selected concepts from branches of social science and other sciences. Students are less motivated in learning history. This condition arises because the variation in historical learning is still lacking because teachers only use traditional methods that place the teacher as the center of information. The Quizizz media-assisted STAD model has the potential to overcome the problems of motivation and student learning outcomes at Trimurti High School. The study was conducted to determine the effect of the STAD (Student Team Achivement Division) learning model assisted by the Quizizz media on motivation and learning outcomes in Indonesian History subjects class XI at Trimurti High School Surabaya. This research is an experimental study using pretest-posttest control group design. The treatment in the experimental class was the application of the STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) learning model assisted by the Quizizz media and the direct learning model (MPL) applied to the control class also assisted by the Quizizz media. T test shows the value of sig 0.03 <0.05, so there are differences in the value of the motivation of students in the control class with the experimental class. T test shows the value of sig 0.002 < 0.05, so there are differences in the value of student learning outcomes in the control class with the experimental class.
