Abstract

Kampoeng Kopi Banaran is an agrotourism destination in Semarang Regency with significant potential to attract tourists. This study aims to analyze the current tourism appeal of Kampoeng Kopi Banaran, identify influencing factors through a SWOT analysis, and formulate development strategies to increase the number of visitors. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and document studies. The findings indicate that Kampoeng Kopi Banaran's main attractions are its coffee plantation landscape and coffee processing education. However, several weaknesses were identified, such as a lack of innovative tourism attractions, limited infrastructure, and suboptimal digital promotion. The SWOT analysis reveals that the main strength lies in the unique coffee-based tourism experience, while the primary weakness is the lack of diversified tourism activities. Opportunities include the growing trend of experiential tourism and government support, whereas the main threat is competition from other tourist destinations in Semarang. Recommended strategies include product innovation, digital marketing optimization, and infrastructure and facility improvements. With the right strategies, Kampoeng Kopi Banaran can potentially become a leading agrotourism destination in Semarang Regency.

Abstract

In this chapter, the research aims to discover Otanaha Fort's existence in the current context. The research uses a qualitative-phenomenological approach, carried out in Dembe I Village, Gorontalo (July-December 2024), and data is collected through observation, interviews, FGDs, and tourist surveys—a total of 16 informants. The results of the study showed. That Otanaha Fort is recognized as a cultural heritage through national and regional regulations, including Law No. 11 of 2010. However, threats such as physical degradation and weak legal sanctions remain challenges. This fort has an important role in the identity of the Gorontalo people, reflected in the oral tradition and the tourism sector. Although the number of tourists has increased, their contribution to PAD has decreased. Revitalization efforts have been made, but less attention has been paid to historical conservation. The main obstacles include coordination between agencies, limited accessibility, and inadequate tourist facilities. Infrastructure improvements, strategic promotions, and sustainable conservation are needed to increase the attractiveness of Otanaha Fort.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of the “Marriage is Scary” phenomenon on the views of marriage among the younger generation. This study used an experimental approach with quantitative methods. Data collection techniques included questionnaires from individuals aged 12-30 years old as well as content analysis and comments on social media. The results showed that 83.2% of the younger generation were affected by the “Marriage is Scary” content, especially in terms of emotional and financial uncertainty. This stigma is often related to the fear of losing independence, financial worries, and domestic violence. However, this phenomenon did not result in an increase in pre-marital sexual behavior, with young people still choosing committed relationships. This research shows that access to positive information and sexual education is crucial to changing negative views of marriage. In addition, good sexual education also needs to be supported by broader approaches, such as understanding mental health, communication in relationships, and social expectation management, to help overcome the negative stigma associated with marriage among young people.

Abstract

The social approach of Madura barbers in Ternate in carrying out their work colors the social dynamics of the community. This research aims to examine the socio-cultural dynamics of the Madura barber community in Ternate by using historical research methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The social history approach is used to extract information from informants.  The results showed that the Madura barbers brought not only their technical skills, but also cultural values such as peer-to-peer solidarity and a close social relationship system. This dynamic also involves an acculturation process with Ternate's local culture, although it still maintains Madura identity and traditions. The social transformation that occurs among Madura barbers reflects that migrant groups can maintain their culture while interacting with the dominant culture in their new environment. In addition, it provides insight into socio-cultural diversity and the role of migrant communities in shaping cultural identity in overseas areas.

Abstract

Traditional dumbleg food is increasingly threatened with extinction due to the regeneration of business actors and changes in public consumption patterns due to globalization. This study aims to analyze the business strategies applied by traditional dumbleg food sellers in maintaining their existence amid the growing culinary competition. This study uses a qualitative approach with a narrative research design. This research uses James S. Coleman's Rational Choice Theory and the methods used are observation, interviews and documentation. The main subjects in this study were 3 traditional dumbleg food sellers, 4 community members and 3 young people who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there are two strategies used by traditional dumbleg food sellers in maintaining their business, namely conventional strategies and modern strategies. Conventional strategies such as offline marketing at Gondang Market, Rejoso Market and Nganjuk Square and marketing through bazaars at certain events. Meanwhile, modern strategies are carried out by marketing through digital platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook as well as flavor innovations in products in order to reach a wider market and attract public interest. The combination of the two strategies can help increase the competitiveness of dumbleg food in the face of current culinary competition. The implication of this research is the importance of innovation in business strategies to be able to maintain the existence of traditional food.

Abstract

The increasing elderly population in Japan has contributed to a significant rise in elderly criminality in recent years. This study aims to analyze how criminal behavior functions as a coping mechanism among elderly Japanese, particularly those affected by poverty and loneliness. A literature study and descriptive analysis were employed using data from various sources such as TBS News, CNN World, FBS Fukuoka News, previous research, scientific articles, books, and other relevant references. Data were processed qualitatively using categorization techniques, including open, axial, and selective coding. The findings reveal that criminal acts committed by the elderly reflect a dominance of emotion-focused coping strategies, namely, escape-avoidance, emotional distancing, and a combination of both. Elderly individuals facing economic hardships, such as the loss of income post-retirement or imbalances between income and living costs, tend to commit minor crimes to be incarcerated and meet their basic needs. Meanwhile, those experiencing psychological distress such as loneliness, social isolation, and lack of familial affection often choose imprisonment as a means of withdrawing from a distressing reality. A combination of avoidance and emotional distancing was found among elderly individuals facing both economic and psychological pressures. Prison is perceived as a safe space that offers basic facilities and social interaction, thereby contributing to the phenomenon of repeat offenses or recidivism among the elderly. In conclusion, criminal behavior among elderly Japanese can be understood as a maladaptive coping strategy emerging in response to an inability to positively cope with life’s limitations.

Abstract

This study reveals the motives for curhat on Instagram, as well as the front and backstage appearances. The approach used in this study is qualitative research with a descriptive research type. The dramaturgy theory proposed by Erving Goffman is used to describe the motives for curhat on Instagram. Based on the results of the study, there are three motives for curhat on Instagram. First, to overcome loneliness and the absence of friends to talk to. Second, self-presentation. Third, seeking validation and social support. In carrying out the activity of curhat on Instagram, it is evident that there is a dramaturgy practice carried out by students. The front stage aims to create the impression as expected. The front stage is divided into two parts, namely setting and personal front. Setting includes the selection of certain features, such as stories and feeds. Personal front includes appearances such as filters, song choices, and post designs. Styles such as captions use metaphors, poetic diction, and symbolism. While the backstage is related to considerations for uploading content and editing before appearing in public.
