Abstract

This study aims to develop an Islamic Guidance and Counseling (BKI) service model integrating Stoicism principles to enhance emotional awareness among vocational high school students. This holistic approach combines Stoic wisdom with Islamic spirituality. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using semi-structured written interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving 27 students of SMKN 1 Sumedang. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation for validity. The findings indicate: (1) students initially lacked systematic emotional identification strategies, which improved through Islamic-Stoic reflective approach; (2) integrative counseling services effectively helped students understand and manage emotions rationally and spiritually; (3) significant improvement in emotional awareness based on indicators K1–K11; and (4) a systematic Stoicism-based Islamic counseling service unit was designed for replication in schools. These findings provide conceptual, methodological, and practical contributions to integrative Islamic Guidance and Counseling.   Keywords: Islamic Counseling Guidance, Stoicism, Emotional Awareness, Adolescents

Abstract

The phenomenon of overthinking has now become a real challenge experienced by many students, especially in facing the uncertainty of the future and career choices. At SMAN 1 Dayeuhkolot, it was found that most students felt excessive anxiety, doubt, and difficulty in designing the right career steps. This not only impacts their emotional condition, but also interferes with the learning process and decision-making. Departing from this anxiety, this study was conducted to test the effectiveness of the Cognitive Defusion technique in Islamic counseling as one approach to dealing with career overthinking in students. The method used is a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest experimental design. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test through SPSS software. This study was conducted on grade XI students who had previously been identified as experiencing overthinking related to careers. The results of the study showed that the Cognitive Defusion technique in Islamic counseling was effective in reducing the level of career overthinking in students. Students became better able to recognize and free themselves from negative thoughts, and had a clearer view of their career future. This approach not only touches on psychological aspects, but also spiritual ones, thus providing a more comprehensive impact on students' inner peace and future planning.   Keywords: Overthinking, Career, Cognitive Defusion, Islamic Counseling, High School Students

Abstract

Domestic crises and the phenomenon of toxic relationships are increasingly complex issues in the modern era, characterized by increasing conflict, verbal and emotional violence, and couples' inability to manage differences. This situation demands the presence of Islamic counselors to provide a more transformative approach to da'wah (Islamic outreach). Da'wah transformation is considered crucial because it can provide solutions that not only emphasize the spiritual dimension but also address psychological and social aspects. This study used qualitative methods with data collection techniques through semi-structured interviews and indirect observation, and involved five Islamic counselors actively providing family counseling services. The sample collection was analyzed using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic analysis approach to explore in-depth the counselors' experiences and strategies in handling cases. The results show that Islamic counselors interpret da'wah transformation as a process of family empowerment through the integration of applicable spiritual, psychological, and social values. The strategies used include strengthening spiritual communication between couples, moral guidance as a basis for building relationship ethics, and the application of religious coping-based counseling. These strategies have proven effective in reducing conflict, improving communication quality, and preventing the negative impacts of toxic relationships.   Keywords: transformation da’wah, toxic relationship, Islamic counselor.

Abstract

Self-awareness is the primary foundation for building family harmony. Amidst the currents of modernization, rife with social pressures, the influence of digital media, and shifting moral values, many individuals struggle to identify themselves, understand their emotions, and balance them within the family. The method used was a descriptive qualitative literature study, which examined various theories and previous research findings related to the topic. The study's findings indicate that Islamic counseling plays a significant role in fostering self-awareness through a process of spiritual reflection, emotional management, and continuous self-evaluation (muhasabah). Individuals with a high level of self-awareness tend to be better able to understand their strengths and weaknesses, manage psychological stress, and foster empathy for other family members. This contributes to healthy communication, mutual respect, and harmonious relationships within the family. Therefore, Islamic counseling serves not only as a means of psychological healing but also as a comprehensive mental and spiritual training medium. Through Islamic values such as sincerity, patience, and responsibility, this counseling contributes to fostering self-balance and creating a family that is peaceful, loving, and compassionate.   Keywords: Islamic counseling, self awareness, family harmony.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing number of drug abuse cases in Indonesia in recent years, which has caused anxiety for all Indonesians. Rehabilitation is one way to deal with drug abuse, although there are consequences for those who cannot adapt to the environment and the pressures of change. Stress can arise in drug addicts undergoing the rehabilitation process if they cannot adjust. However, the increase in drug cases in Indonesia is inversely proportional to data found by the author at one of the Social Welfare Institutions that cares for drug victims and participates in rehabilitating drug addicts in Indonesia, namely the Pondok Tetirah Dzikir Yogyakarta Rehabilitation Center. The author found a fairly significant decrease in data from 2021 to 2024 on students under the care of drug addicts. In this case, The Pondok Tetirah Dzikir Rehabilitation Center utilizes environmental factors and natural elements in its treatment. This study aims to determine, describe, and analyze the approach of the healing environment concept to address the stress of drug addicts at the Pondok Tetirah Dzikir Yogyakarta Rehabilitation Center.   Keywords: Healing Environment Approach, Stress of Drug Addicts, Rehabilitation.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a mindfulness e-book as an interactive self-regulation guidance medium for vocational high school (SMK) students. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model adapted from Robert Maribe Branch. Analysis of needs was conducted with 49 students, comprising 4 validators (2 content experts and 2 media experts). The BRS (Brief Resilience Scale) was administered to one group (small group) and 30 students. Data collection utilized self-regulation and mindfulness questionnaires. The research findings indicate that students possessed low self-regulation skills, with awareness aspects lacking judgment, attention, and ability to self-regulate emotions. The design phase yielded an e-book in PDF format with portrait layout, utilizing a combination of blue and white colors. The development phase produced an e-book with a validity percentage of 97% based on expert judgment and 96% from student assessment, categorized as highly valid. The practical category attained 95% after expert judgment, categorized as highly practical. This research concludes that the mindful self-regulation e-book has been proven valid and practical as an interactive guidance medium for enhancing students' self-regulation through private counseling services.   Keywords: e-book mindfulness, self-regulation, vocational high school students

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of individual counseling based on the Person-Centered approach integrated with Islamic values in addressing emotional deprivation resulting from a lack of emotional support within the family. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach involving a female client identified as NDF who experienced emotional distress related to family relationships. Data were collected through counseling interviews, observation of the client’s emotional responses during counseling sessions, and reflective documentation by the counselor. The counseling process was conducted in four sessions, including rapport building, problem identification, empathic confrontation, reframing, and evaluation. The findings indicate that the Islamic value-based Person-Centered approach effectively enhanced the client’s self-awareness, emotional regulation, emotional independence, and assertive communication skills. The integration of Islamic values such as sabr (patience), syukur (gratitude), and tawakkal (trust in God) strengthened the counseling process by providing a spiritual meaning framework for understanding emotional experiences. This study concludes that integrative counseling based on Islamic values contributes not only to reducing emotional distress but also to fostering sustainable psychological and spiritual well-being.   Keywords: person-centered counseling, Islamic values, family emotional support, emotional independence

Abstract

This study explores how parental support groups facilitate the acceptance process among parents of children with disabilities. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative comparison using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Data were collected through a self-acceptance questionnaire and in-depth interviews with five parents who had actively participated for at least six months, and limited observations during group meetings. The findings indicated a significant improvement in parental self-acceptance after joining the support group (Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, p = .041). Qualitative findings revealed that acceptance developed as a relational process characterized by reduced social isolation, emotional normalization, and an increased sense of belonging. The support group functioned as a collective safe haven that provided emotional security and as a secure base that fostered parents' identity transformation, enabling them to become more confident, proactive, and empowered. Parents also reconstructed their perceptions of themselves, their children, and family life. Nevertheless, acceptance remained dynamic and was continually challenged by social stigma, caregiving burden, and concerns about the future. These findings underscore the importance of developing community-based Islamic guidance and counseling grounded in the values of ta'awun, sabr, ikhtiar, and tawakkal to strengthen parental resilience and acceptance.
