Abstract

Nunukan district has resources and strategic position that should be managed efficiently. One of the few things that need to be prepared to achieve the efficiency is to plan and manage the spatial appropriately. Nunukan Regency has set the agricultural area, however it is still global, zoning of beef cattle livestock sub-sector is not markedly available. Determination of the suitability of the development region was undertaken with a study of agro-ecological condition, analysis of potential of natural resources, human resources, contributing factors, and the region designation. This study aims to provide an overview of how to analyze the suitability of region for beef cattle development, direction of development and program orientation in beef cattle development based on secondary data on the islands of Nunukan and Sebatik. The level of regional suitability was expressed relatively between districts. Determination of classes conducted by the method of scoring and weighting refers to a method of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and directorate general of animal husbandry with modifications according to the field conditions. The result showed that Nunukan district is the highest priority for the development of beef cattle, so an acceleration for development is needed, districts of South Nunukan and Sebatik are in medium category with an orientation program in the form of training, while the other regions of Sebatik are in the low category with an orientation program in the form of beef cattle farm development.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the performance of body size at the age of 205 days and 365 days of cross-breeding offspring from Bali cattle and Brahman bulls. This research was conducted from March to September 2021, which took place in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The materials used were 50 cows that were artificially inseminated by Brahman bulls with Balinese cows. Parameters observed were body length (cm) aged 205 days and 365 days, chest circumference (cm) and shoulder height. The research results are; The body length of a cow aged 205 days was 96.04±2.4 cm and the body length of a cow aged 365 days was 106.28±1.82 cm, the chest circumference of a cow aged 205 was 125.78±2.94cm and a chest circumference of a cow aged 365 days was 143 ,78±4.09 cm, shoulder height of 205 days old cow 96.1±2.69 cm and shoulder height 105.74±2.17 cm. The conclusion is,, The performance of body measurements (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) cattle aged 205 days and 365 days from cross-breeding of Brahman bulls with Balinese mothers through artificial insemination programs is better than the marriage of Balinese bulls with cows. Bali. Crossing the Indicus (Brahman) cattle with the Sondaicus (Bali) cattle can improve the performance of the body size of the cattle.

Abstract

The high application of NPK fertilizer in the development of Panicum maksimum caused damage to the soil. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are biological agents that can be used as an alternative to increase soil fertility, increase the efficiency of using inorganic fertilizers, and increase the productivity of Panicum maksimum . The purpose of this study was to see the changes that occurred in the roots after application of NPK fertilizer inoculated with Arbuscula Mycorrhizal Fungus on Panicum maksimum . The method used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and repeated 5 times. The first treatment was without the provision of NPK, the second treatment was 1.5 grams of NPK/polybag, the third treatment was 3 grams of NPK/polybag, and the fourth treatment was 4.5 grams of NPK/polybag. Each treatment was inoculated with 5 grams of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi/polybag. Parameters observed were root length, root weight, root volume, and root/shoot ratio of Panicum maksimum . The results of this study showed that the application of NPK fertilizer had a very significant effect on root length, but had no significant effect on the parameters of root weight, root volume, and the ratio of shoots/roots. It can be concluded that NPK fertilizer did not affect the growth of Panicum maksimum roots inoculated with the mycorrhizal fungus Arbuscula.

Abstract

People with autism have an allergic reaction to foods containing gluten and casein. Food processing innovation is needed. Whey powder, the by-product of cheese, have a high protein but can be consumed by people with autism safely. The objectives of this research to evaluate organoleptic and chemical characteristics of different whey powder-based biscuits to obtain the best formulation as a special food for people with autism. Biscuit formulations with the different addition of whey powder 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% was observed organoleptic and chemical characteristics. Casein and gluten protein of the best formulation biscuit was analysed by SDS-PAGE method. The results of this research showed that the addition of whey powder had a significant difference to organoleptic characteristics, the content of ash, protein, and free fatty acid. The SDS-PAGE analysis showed that protein fraction of casein and gluten were not seen significantly with band protein standard on 5% whey powder-based biscuit.

Abstract

This study was conduced to determine the reproduction performance characteristics of rabbits in Ngelegok sub-district, Blitar district. The material used in this study was rabbits in 5 people's farms in Ngelegok sub-district, Blitar district. The method used in this research is interviews and surveys directly to the location of the rabbit farming business. The data collected are primary data derived from a survey of reproduction in livestock breeding rabbits as many as 5 people in the Ngelegok sub-district of Blitar district, then conducted direct interviews with breeders using a list of questions available on the sheet questionnaires. The results of the study showed that the first breeding male rabbits was at least 6 months old, while for female cattle the first mating age was at least 5 months. The litter size produced by each type of rabbit varies. Litter size between 4-12 rabbits per birth. S / C of each type of rabbits there is no difference, with 2 or 3 times a marriage, rabbits likely to experience a pregnancy. Lambing frequency rabbits around 4.5 to 6 times per year, while the distance mating rabbit for mating again at least 14 days and a maximum of 55 days. The conclusion that the reproduction performance of rabbits in the Ngelegok sub-district of Blitar District is good enough, but every kind of rabbits have different reproduction performance characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to identify Escherichia coli bacteria from drinking water poultry in layer farms, Ponggok sub-district, Blitar district. 7 samples of water were collected from layer farms in the village of Kebonduren Ponggok Blitar. Water samples were examined for Escherichia coli bacteria using the Most Probable Number (MPN) method and analyzed descriptively. The results in this study were from 7 farms found 1 farm whose drinking water was contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria, the number of E.coli was 210 MPN/100 ml, these results still met the MPN Coliform threshold value for class II farm water according to PP no 82 in 2001, which was 5000 MPN/100 ml of water and 2000 MPN/100 ml of E. coli.

Abstract

The Mx gene (Myxovirus) is a gene that functions to control the immunity of poultry against viral diseases. This gene is a native antiviral and is able to respond to influenza virus infections such as avian influenza. This study aims to identify the diversity of the Mx gene in ducks using the PCR-RFLP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) molecular technique. The number of samples used were thirteen ducks from Indragiri Hulu Regency (Riau Province). The restriction site of the Mx gene using the Rsa1 enzyme is in the base sequence GTN|NAC. There are two alleles namely A and G, and three genotypes, AA, AG and GG. The results showed that the Mx gene in ducks was monomorphic. The frequency of the resistant allele (A) is 0%, while the frequency of the susceptible allele (G) is 100%.

Abstract

A good semen diluent should have a high preservation ability, the addition of simple sugar such as glucose can act as a source of energy and a cryoprotectant for spermatozoa. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding glucose in the AndroMed® diluent to the sperm quality of Limousin crossbreed bull during the cryopreservation process. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatment levels and 5 replications. The level of treatment used was diluted semen with added 0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1% glucose, respectively. Semen was collected using an artificial vagina, diluted, and packaged in straws with a minimum concentration of 25 million spermatozoa per straw. Straw was equilibrated for 2 hours at 5 oC. The next step is prefreezing, freezing, and thawing at 37 oC for 30 seconds. Parameters observed were sperm viability and abnormality after equilibration and recovery rate. The results showed that the addition of glucose in the AndroMed® diluent had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the sperm viability after equilibration, but had no effect (P>0.05) on the sperm abnormality after equilibration and the recovery rate of spermatozoa after freezing. The addition of 0.6 to 0.8% glucose was able to increase the sperm viability (91.2-94.49%). The conclusion of this study was that the addition of glucose in the AndroMed® diluent only affected the sperm viability of Limousin crossbreed bull after equilibration and the best glucose percentages used were 0.6%.

Abstract

The large amount of poultry egg production in South Sulawesi caused the most of poultry egg seller moved their wares to some of the regions including the destination of Central Sulawesi. The transportation process was allegedly causing the decreasing of quality and quantity of eggs such as egg weight, yolk index, albumin index to location and height of the rack arrangement in the truck. The aim of thestudy was to observe and determine the effect of the location and height of the rack arrangement in the truck during transportation from Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi to Palu City, Central Sulawesi. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 3 x 5 with 3 repetitions, factor A was the location of the container in the truck diagonally and factor B was the height of the rack. The results showed that the rack location resulted in a shrinkage of 0.7%, the yolk index had no effect, while the albumin index had an effect.

Abstract

Musi Banyuasin is one of the regency in South Sumatra Province. The population of cattle based on 2017 data is 31,834 heads spread across 14 districts. The type of cattle that is mostly kept is Bali cattle which are scattered throughout the Musi Banyuasin. SPR Maju Bersama is one of the SPRs under the guidance of IPB University in Musi Banyuasin. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the male Bali cattle breeding program at SPR Maju Bersama. The method used in this study is purposive sampling with the observed parameters, namely the pattern of maintenance, the mating system of male sires and the relationship between the rearing system and the results of the livestock BCS assessment as a program evaluation parameter. The results of this study indicate that SPR Maju Bersama is quite good in carrying out the male Bali cattle breeding program as superior breeds. The BCS value is at a score of 3 with a total of 53 heads from the total sample population of 89 heads.
