Abstract

The association between social support and mental health at work has been widely established; nevertheless, notably among working women, the significance of age in that relationship remains controversial. This research used age as a moderator to determine mental health from social support. The Interpersonal Support Evaluation List–12 (ISEL-12) and the Mental Health Inventory–18 (MHI-18) was answered by 100 working women (Mage=41.20; SDage=9.80). A significant association between social support and mental health were reported but not between age and mental health. Age moderated the connection between social support and mental health. Younger women demonstrated greater mental health than older women in low-social support environments. With increasing social support, older working women reported better mental health. The findings of this study can be implemented by companies to develop and implement social support methods and policies to improve overall mental health in the workplace.

Abstract

COVID-19 increases the awareness of cleanliness and sanitation in society. Trends in launching sanitizer and disinfectant products have risen significantly to meet customer demand. However, the existing commercial sanitizer products are mostly chemical-based and may cause adverse effects. Therefore, eco- enzyme is a perfect bio-waste utilization for nonchemical-based sanitization products. The authors investigated eco-enzymes' effectiveness in an aerosol spray from fruit waste for a pleasant natural disinfectant. This review aimed to compile results from previous studies on fruit waste by systematically reviewing empirical studies on household waste practices to develop an eco-enzyme following the PRISMA guidelines. A digital search in five databases from Google Scholar, PubMed, Garuda, Sinta, and Open Alex resulted in 24 relevant journals, considering keywords such as eco-enzyme, disinfectant, and organic waste. The mapping results show that eco-enzyme is feasible and economical for disinfecting and sanitizing surfaces due to its antimicrobial activity. The presence of acetic acids and enzymes (i.e., lipases and amylases) can inhibit specific strains of microorganisms, namely Escherichia coli and Enterococcus sp.

Abstract

The rapid outbreak of COVID-19 has initiated the development of mobile applications aiming at helping public health authorities to slow down viral diffusion. The proliferation of these applications engenders challenges to forge a balance between ‘public health utility’ and ‘personal privacy’. This paper scrutinizes various applications that collect personal data according to their functions and data protection compliance. These applications are mostly of three broader categories- contact tracing, self-assessment, and quarantine enforcement. We conduct systematic categorization based on five parameters-type of owner or provider, host platform, functionalities, the existence of privacy policy, and state of the source code. A total of 122 apps encompassing 83 countries were assessed during a research period of 20 days (June 1 to 20, 2020). Findings suggest that although the majority of the applications publish a privacy policy, many applications do not give information in detail, making the issue of privacy obscure. The majority of the applications collect various sensitive personal data irrespective of their functionalities, provider, and platform. Most applications are not open source raising concerns over trust and transparency. The findings are valuable to policymakers who are formulating short, mid, and long-term technology policies to strike a balance between functionality and personal privacy.

Abstract

Sansevieria trifasciata is a plant that has the potential to kill pathogenic bacteria due to its content. An experimental study with a laboratory experimental design was carried out to test the inhibition of Sansevieria trifasciata extract against Escherichia coli in vitro. Antibacterial testing of Sansevieria trifasciata extract was carried out at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 40% to explore the growth of Escherichia coli by maceration method and using 96% ethanol. The medium used was Mueller Hinton Agar which had previously been inoculated with the test microbe (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922) and then the results obtained were compared with the control group for comparison. The ethanol extract of Sansevieria trifasciata with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 40% could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria with the average diameter of the inhibition zone respectively 6.63 mm, 5.42 mm, and 6.55 mm compared to the diameter of the Escherichia coli on the control variable + using the previous ciprofloxacin, namely 20.4 mm, 20.8 mm and 20.4 mm. Sansevieria trifasciata has good inhibition against the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria with low or high concentrations.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore healthcare team members’ perspectives towards the factors that can contribute to the quality improvement of comprehensive emergency obstetric and neonatal care (CEmONC) services at a tertiary hospital. This qualitative descriptive study used convenience sampling to collect the sample. The inclusion criteria were the health workers who have worked for at least one year, in which a total of 119 participants took part in this study. The data were obtained from an online questionnaire, and the collected data were then analyzed with qualitative thematic analysis. This study revealed that three key aspects affecting the success of CEmONC services: i) health human resources (high-quality healthcare workers, in adequate proportion, with excellent teamwork, and commitment to being on time); ii) facilities and infrastructure (the availability of the intensive care unit and 24-hour laboratory, and the access to the obstetric/neonatal ward), and iii) the hospital service system (well-integrated external referral system and internal consultation). As the highest referral healthcare center, hospital managers should monitor and evaluate these three factors periodically to ensure that high-risk mothers and babies can acquire appropriate subspecialty care in the hospital and further can reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates.

Abstract

Patients with hypertension and diabetes are at risk of developing chronic kidney failure. A common occurrence in patients with chronic kidney disease is pruritus. Pruritus can affect all parts of the body, which can have an emotional impact on the patient, affect the quality of sleep and mood of the patient, and cause discomfort. The study's goal was to determine whether there was a long-term link between hemodialysis and the onset of pruritus among patients with chronic renal failure who were receiving hemodialysis. Quantitative research with the cross-sectional method A total of 45 patients are in the RSI Sultan Agung Semarang Hemodialisa Unit, Central Java, Indonesia. The instrument in this study was the 5D pruritus scale. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 24. The Spearman rank test was conducted to test the relationship between two variables of the study, namely the duration of hemodialysis and the occurrence of pruritus. The study was conducted in April–June 2022, along with the ethical test. The results of the study obtained a p value of 0.004≤0.05, which means there is a relationship between long-term hemodialysis and the occurrence of pruritus in patients with chronic kidney failure. In conducting treatment, it is important to pay attention to basic needs and comfort, as well as implement pruritus management.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCD) and oral disease problems can arise in all age groups, including teenagers. Risky behavior is caused by a poor lifestyle and other factors. This study aimed to determine risky behavior and NCD incidence as well as oral problems in students at the Yogyakarta campus. This can lead NCD and oral problems. This research is quantitative descriptive-analytic research condected in a private university in Yogyakarta. The data was collected through an electronic questionnaire (Google form) and analyzed descriptively. Among the students' risky behaviors, 87.27% consumed excessive sweet food, 87.88% salty food, 82.42% oily food, 80% of seasonings, 57.58% consumed instant noodles, 84.85% consumed too little fruit and vegetables, and 87.27% did not participate in physical activity for 30 minutes. In the last 12 months, there was a high incidence of dental and oral health issues among students without symptoms. It was concluded that the most dominant risk behavior for non- communicable disease correlated with poor diet related to food consumption and lack of physical activity. All students had no symptoms or no doctor's diagnosis, but students experienced oral health problem within 12 months. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and good oral hygiene can reduce the risk of NCDs and dental and oral diseases.

Abstract

Appendicitis is one of the most common abdominal inflammations in daily emergency cases. The diagnosis of appendicitis is often delayed because the symptoms resemble other abdominal emergencies. The present research aimed to describe the clinical and epidemiological profile of acute appendicitis patients. The research design is a cohort retrospective study employing appendicitis patients' medical record data at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2020. The variables obtained through the patient records were age, gender, domicile location, vital signs, physical examination, blood laboratory, ultrasound, histopathology, postoperative diagnosis, the incidence of peritonitis, and length of stay. The median age value in patients with appendicitis was 27 years (0-95), and the largest group was young adults (19-44 years). Abdominal pain was found in almost all research subjects. The median of leukocytes was 10.1 (3.32-65.80)×106/ml and the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was 3.52 (0.47-30.57)/μl. The median percentage of the neutrophil count was 70.7 (27.90-94.81). The final diagnosis of complicated appendicitis was more than uncomplicated appendicitis (51.2% vs. 48.8%). We conclude that several detailed parameters, such as the location of abdominal pain, leukocyte count, and NLR can help the physician diagnose appendicitis and guide surgeons in deciding the type of surgery.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to observe the nutritional balance of fisherman's families in the Mandeh area of West Sumatra, Indonesia, in terms of food diversity, a clean and healthy lifestyle, physical activity, and nutritional status during the nutritional transition period. The sample size was 119 fishermen's families from the Mandeh area who were chosen randomly. An interview method that included a questionnaire and anthropometric measurements was used as the data collection technique. The interaction trend of nutritional status with food diversity, a clean and healthy lifestyle, and physical activity was seen by Chi-square analysis. The results found a significant relationship between physical activity and the nutritional status of fishermen's families, with a p-value of 0.020. Meanwhile, there was no correlation between food diversity, a clean and healthy lifestyle, and nutritional status (p>0.05). Additionally, nutritional problems, particularly obesity and malnutrition cases in fishermen's families in the Mandeh area of West Sumatera during the nutritional transition period, require attention; for instance, increasing prevention strategies to maintain nutritional balance.
